I doubt that it still exists but in the early 80's GM had a White Caprice Classic Wagon that was used as a chase car for the C4 test mules. Car and Driver Magazine did a small piece on it. It was equipped with a TPI Corvette mill as well as C4 Corvette wheels & tires. Maybe Corvette seats & steering wheel, I can't quite recall.

Back in 2000 I surprised my wife with a new 2001 Corvette convertible that we picked up at the NCM during the Labor Day event. Chief Engineer Dave Hill presented her with the keys and autographed the inside of the hood. Very cool! Now we are in the order queue for a Z06 convertible for NCM pick up.

I like the early Vetts a lot and up to 69, but have not been a fan after that as they have traditionally represented the midlife crisis and or were better suited for old men polishing them up in their garages. That is until we saw some C8s at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale AZ last January, and was really impressed with it. They've needed to go with a mid engine for a long time, and really like the design of the body as well. I wasn't sure how it would do on the street or track, but have seen some u-tube vids of it and is impressively quick. And that's all coming from a forever Mopar guy, but would still rather have an ACR Viper though. Because they are King of the blacktop and hold the world record for the quickest times, plus Mopar or no car 💪🏼😎

There are only 6 cars in the GTLM/GT2 class, soon to be only 4 when Porsche drops out next year!!!! Corvette race cars are not made by GM like Porsches are, but by Pratt and Miller. The flat plane crank V8 in the race car is shared with the upcoming Z06, not the current Stingray. Still not as potent as a Ferrari 458 Speciale and doesn't have the American pushrod V8 we know and love. We'll see about the reliability. Another great infomercial.

Those new Corvettes have cast wheels that are cracking. Chevy isn't covering them under warranty. If they were forged, it wouldn't be happening. A class action lawsuit is pending.

Its a shame GM engineers have ZERO understanding of BASIC physics. HP is a result of 0-60, not a predictor. The dyno measures torque at the wheels, then uses RPM to figure (Force x Distance/Time), the definition of Power. So 495HP means its a 4 sec car. 3 sec cars are rated ~800HP, morons, thats the DEFINIFION of HP. Its so disappointing that GM engineers are so bad. So its no big shock that C8s are doing 4.12 secs on Dragy, the worst 0-60 per dollar of ANY new sportscar. Its an unmatched failure, even for GM, whos engineers are so horrendous, they don't understand a simple dyno result already embeds the car's measured 0-60 time.
