"Sleep on a win, you'll wake up with a loss." Real gems dropped in this interview. Conor could be a case study in sports psychology and mental strength in general.
he LOVES sports-related quotes and in fact he spoke one of the wisest things about his approach to mma. look up obsessed quote mcgregor and ull know wat i mean.
Love him or hate him, the takeaway for anyone listening to Conor should be how valuable the mental aspect is to anything in life. I'm currently dealing with a serious illness and when I am feeling defeated I go on RU-vid and listen to this guy speak. I immediately feel stronger. I think his mental game accounts for a large proportion of his skill set and success.
It's not "talking trash" or being arrogant. He is applying the practice of positive thinking, visualization and realization. Those who see it otherwise are, like most people, limiting themselves and don't even know it. Thank you Connor. You are a great conduit of the Universe!
I mostly agree with you, but I also think that he has a lot of preconceived ideas that haven't been tested yet. As we've seen with the Nate Diaz fight, never underestimate anyone. When I first heard about the Rafael dosAnjos fight my first reaction was "no, he can't win against dosAnjos". Rafael has proven over and over that he's a beast in his class. I'm glad that he's positive but as we've seen with the Diaz fight pride comes before a fall and like Rhonda Rousey he needs to reign it in. At least he's likeable unlike Rhonda.
Wet a well spoken and intelligent young man, with wit. There is nothing fake in this man, hes what Chael Sonnen wanted to be, but lacked the integrity. I can only imagine this guy in 2 years. He reminds me of ALI, talked and delivers, witty and serious. He is something special and only he himself can ruin it. He has an entire country counting on him, riding his back, motivating him.. If you understand the Irish people you know they are fighters with hearts bigger than their chest with national pride.
@@davidnelson1090 done mate predicted the same shame about the downfall but you were right about that as well only Conor that brought his own downfall with all the inactivity
Say what you want about Conor McGregor but since him joining the UFC and me watching his fights and interviews it has inspired me to go back to my local mma gym every week and focus on my goals. A true inspiration!
In 2021. It makes complete sense now why he isn't as hungry. He was never hungry for the fight game. He was hungry for financial security. Much respect.
I get your point but thats not exactly accurate , Conor is a true fighting man but just because you want to fight doesn't mean you'll win , being willing is only the 1st step , there are so many more factors influencing his life than just his will to fight. For most fighters , fighting is their identity , but its not for Conor because he transcended fighting. At his core he is still a fighter and he always will be he'll always have that fire and you can hear it when he speaks but its not all he is or his only identity he's became so much more than that. Something that only 4 fighters have ever achieved : Muhammad Ali , Mike Tyson , Floyd Mayweather , & Conor McGregor. Even other big ppv stars still have not completely transcended their own sport the way those 4 did. There's not much left for Conor to do he needs to set new goals but this leg break seems to have gotten his mind back on track we'll see
At this point in time he was either 26 or 27 years old. He's awfully young and has yet a lot of obstacles to encounter in life. I love him because he epitomises the Celtic spirit. The Celts always had a loud mouth and a lot of bravado. They told tales of unbelievable bravery about themselves because they lived in a brutal world and it helped to bolster them for future wars. Connor is very much a Celt. A vulnerable tough guy. I didn't think he lost against Diaz, he gave Diaz a pretty mighty beating and Diaz looked a mess. In the 2nd round Diaz got a punch in to the side of Connor's head and after that he slowed down. I don't think he gassed even though Connor thinks he did. I think Connor would massacre Diaz in a future rematch. Plus I think he's great for Ireland.
Financially you're doing well now Connor but you're also a big spender and as you've said the fighting game is finite, so protect yourself. I'd love to see him in movies. Apart from Scott Adkins there are no action stars anymore, I'd love to see the action genre come back.
so transparent, so humble, so wise, love listening to Conor, on "the perfect storm" (or systems theory as it applies to becoming genius), on the mental side of the Force, on presence, on the journey, hopefully he stays true to his word at 35.41
4 years ago I graduated, having a predisposition to influence others, I learned in an unconscious way the ways of speaking of McGregor, needless to say that they gave me the highest marks and the professors were moved saying that I was a determined and brilliant soul, from there I began to have a great job, Good relationships and a high quality of life, thanks Conor, if I ever succeed in something really great lo I owe it to you
35:50 'I am smarter than I look' haha I love what he says about Martial Art on 35:02.. really cool thoughts and interview held by CMG (which is not usual)
Conor has a very strong mental game and that's a big advantage in this sport. I'm confident he will beat Aldo and knock him the feck out come July 11. Hopefully the Brazilian midget doesn't pull out of the fight coz of his rib injury! It's clear as day that Aldo fears Conor 😁
Arjan Tv no one knew Khabib would be this dominant 3 years Agos. Everyone knew he was a dangerous challenger. No one knew he would be this good. Come on now
He performed great in is first two fights against low tier fighters and then was fed and under trained deigo brandao in his home town still looked very impressive it will be intresting too see how he fairs against one of the higher tiered fighters in the ufc with a full camp and if he wins with his mouth and a 4-0 record in the ufc i think his popularity will get him a title shot
Brilliant stuff. Far too many people have a hatred for Connor, much like they do for maywether. Self belief is frowned upon these days and it's fucking sickening.
Daniel Gallagher because people like to watch nasty shits and then post nasty comments because he is a nasty arrogant shit ,its human nature ,and also it is human nature to say domething nice or good or praise them when they do something good, and if by chance he did something good i would say so
One hell of a character and even a very likeable cockiness with just enough overconfident mixed within! I really hope he wins this next fight he seems good for the sport, but if he loses wow London bridges! If he loses I would bet he comes back stronger the next time !
crazy to think "this might not be for me".. thn ur givin a shot nd ur brain chemistry alters drastically while it aligns w ur soul.. once mind body soul are aligned the doors open nd no1 can stop you but urself
My main takeaway from this is that Connor has always had lapses in motivation and is prone to slacking off, he’s one of those people who can either work at an insane capacity or can drift into slacking off. Crazy to think that after he became Cage warriors champion he thought about quitting then the UFC rang 😂 he did the same before fighting khabib and Dustin 2, it’s always been part of his character
there's no doubt Conor is a special fighter with a big personality, and not a fake forced personality but his real self and it maybe a cocky at times but every fighter needs that at this level he just verbalizes it in a different way but as special as he is he has a high risk style, and in a sport like ufc everyone has holes and this style like Silva's is a style where you can pay a big price when those holes are exposed. I just don't think he'll have anywhere near the career of a Jones or Silva or other awkward style fighters have, but he's a great talent regardless
think Dustin as much as i love the guy..isnt as good against more flashy and unorthodox type strikers. He also gets impatient sometimes and a bit emotional. They are both well rounded.. but conor is alot more crisp. That being said if conor has improved in ground game in the last year or so as well. This is his fight. BUT if Conor hasnt....On top of the fact that his only losses are by SUB. Dustin may get the sub on conor. I think this will be at least a 2 round fight though..i expect a back in forth fight. The longer it goes the better chance for Dustin. The answer is has conor worked his ground as good as the rest and his sub defense from the past? And will dustin get too impatient and emotional? I want Dustin to get a title shot..more than mcgregor cuz dustin has worked harder and been around longer. So i WANT him to win based only on that. But ima gunna pick against who i want considering everything ive said and go with Conor for the WIN. Im also a Louisiana here..but just tryna keep it honest.
There will be very tough fighters coming his way so we ll see what he's made of then. I'd like to see him do well, but when he gets on the ground and tussles with a tough guy and grinds it out, and it's not soo easy, then we can see.
So sometimes its got nothing to do with money, then its all money. At least hes more honest this time. His is an extremely inspirational story but now he needs to think about what he says. Its sad, very sad for someone like him to talk about how its all about money.Youth looking up to him, future generations hearing this, that sucks. The world is already too competative, too much about money, people like him should know the impact they have. Shouldnt say sh*t like that. And then people say, "but its true...blabla". No, nothing is "true". "Truth", changes and is rebuilt constantly. And it needs to be changed so we are less about money, enormous egos, material sh*t and more about being there for one another. Perspective like this is what brought the world to where it is today, wars and presidents not talking to one another. GSP is such a better rolemodel.
Ron Wils Sorry if I wrote a bit awkward, you miss understand me. I dont like how he went from talking about other things that motivated him, about life, about whats important to something like this interview, where he claims how money is really the only focus and is behind everything. The more we build that impression in the minds of our youth (and not even only young, everyone) the worse the future will be. Going after money and giving it priority is a very selfcentered way. It sucks cause people dont realize how much impact media and special individuals like McGregor have on the perspective of those watching him.
He was on social welfare, do you think he cares about my opinion or yours? thats why i love him he is real not fake like jon jones. after all he is in the business of destroying other people dream to accomplish his dream (to become a world champion) i dont think there is such thing as rolemodel in the the MMA world.
He has always talked about money being his main motivation, along with human movement. Why do you work? Understand that money is something to be wanted and that it is ok to want it. The worst thing to say to young people is that money is not ok to be desired. Do some research on the Law of Attraction my friend. Money is a beautiful thing and is the effect, not the cause.
Conor is a one of those rare individuals who is the complete package. He is well on his way to becoming the greatest MMA artist of all time. I cannot wait to see him kick Aldo's ass!!!!
