Sweden: About 400000 licensed players, Costa Rica: About 20000 licensed players. Must be one of the Biggest moments in history if you are a Costarican football fan. But for a Swedish football fan... this still hurts.

That was when Costa Rican football was still amateur, despite being the #1 sport and having huge attendaces in almost every stadium of the domestic championship. After that world cup everything changed towards professionalism

@@anthonymcken6050 It's a tough group with Germany and Spain, Japan also have good players playing in Europe. Right now Costa Rica is a very good defensive team and Keylor Navas is magnificent. The thing is that in offensive we don't have so many options. The players that have played there are youngsters of 18-19-22 years with huge talent but no experience on international major tournaments. I think Costa Rica will be a team that maybe will put Spain or Germany in trouble. I think they will do good, but I don't think they will make it to the last 16 due to the group in which they have to compete. Even tho, everyone said the same thing in 2014 and Costa Rica led their group over Italy Uruguay and England, and managed to reach the quarter finals against Netherlands.

@@agrafl96 I think this is regarded as the Biggest Sport failure in Swedens history, together with the Failure to qualify for WC 86 in Mexico and Swedens loss in Icehockey against Belarus in Olympic Games 2002. In the Sense that it was Humiliating due to the High Expectations Sweden had before the Tournaments. Not just the Loss against Costa Rica. It became like the drop that made the cup overflow.

Incredible how many shots on and off goal the Swedes had in this game. During the 2016 EUROS, Sweden didn’t take a single shot in goal in three games. Erik Hamrèn was finally sacked after that.

@@juanperaza5471Brolin was my favorite player from the swedish team in the 90's. What Sweden did in the 1994 world cup is even more impressive than Costa Rica did in the 1990 world cup run considering Sweden couldn't get out from their group in 1990 . In the 1994 world cup, Sweden scored the most goals than any other team.
