The guy who played one of my favorite fills ever: the ride cymbal shuffle on "Sultans." So simple, so perfect

I have watched a number of your videos and now my first comment. I really enjoyed watching this. I really like Pick Withers' drumming on the 'Straits albums. It is great to hear about his days with Spring. I have both Spring albums (reissues) and I really enjoy that music as well. He seems like a great person as well as a great drummer. Thanks for this excellent interview!

He appeared on OGWT in the mid 70s playing behind Rab Noakes with Charlie Harcourt on Guitar and Rod Clements on bass. I'd love see that footage on YT if it's not been obliterated entirely.

I have to know something before I die. As a (non-professional) drummer and a hi-hat freak, I honestly have been trying for decades to find out what Withers' hi-hats are on the first Dire Straits album. I consider Withers hi-hat work to be phenomenal. He can make any hi-hat sound fantastic, just from his technique. But I have heard/read various "answers" to this question on his hats on the first record and I still don't know for sure. To me, the hi-hat sound throughout the first D.S. album is the ultimate sound. It's possible he may have used different hats on different songs. Who knows? If someone could ever get the answer from the man himself, I would be forever grateful! I am already aware of the Paiste Profiles book that lists the Paiste 14" Sound Creation Dark Sound Edge hats as his hi- hat. But that does not mean he was using them on that album. I can die in peace once this burning question is answered! I need to know the exact model and the size. I also love his hi-hat sound in a concert from 1980 and it can be seen in the video that he was using his 15" Zildjian Quick Beat hi-hat, and they sound awesome. But I really need to know about the first D.S. album.

Can't see it happening for many reasons, the main one being that Mark doesn't want to and seems to have zero interest in bringing back 'Dire Straits'.
