What a modern age we live in. Imagine if you went back in time and told a DJ in 1977 that one day you could have hundreds of thousands of songs on a computer the size of a book and control music using a wireless remote that sits on top of your record? Oh, and while your at a gig you can acquire pretty much any song ever recorded in less than a minute.

That awkward moment when you realise you just bought loads of replacement styli and won't even be using them when Phase becomes available...

You don't even need a turn table. Just put one on the end a drill.

Personally the sound of the needle on the control vinyl drives me crazy. This is a great solution to that. I would like to see a modded Technics platter with space for this under slipmat.

Sign a deal with Serato or recordbox, & build the reciever in to the DVS interface.

Can't wait. I'm going to wait, though, until the product has been out for a few months to that they can work out the bugs. Hopefully their customer service is great, because the wireless system does concern many of us DJ's. But definitely interested in this product... too many bass heavy stages affect my sets using needles... I hate CDJ's and Controller's...

You could stack a small 45 with a mini slipmat on top of the a record actually playing with the tonearm and use rane 12 on the top one - giving you 4 simultaneous records playing

I hope they rea design it. Me and other DJ. When mixing grab the centre pin of the deck and twist it to slightly speed up the record. You can't do this with this device on there. Hopefully they make a thin version.

So here’s the issue with mixer and Phase you’ll be using both USB ports on the computer? Wonder if it’s okay to run these off a hub🤔 cause If you have an external you’re fucked🤷🏼‍♂️

Crazy question but i was thinking about this i have a pioneer DDJ-SZ and i have Traktor as my primary software loaded via TSI. files now because i'm trying to scratch using Traktor the TSI. file is not allowing me to do so ( the way i want to) , i can on Serato but i want to use Traktor and scratch the same way or better. The latency is bad via Traktor (for scratching) so i was thinking and i know sounds dumb or cheap but i do not want to purchase Turntables to be able to use Phase so what i've thought about doing is adding a spindle on the surface in the middle of the platter or centering the Phase and applying it that way i can use the Phase with Traktor. What i've also noticed even with Serato is even when setting up to scratch there is a very small crossfader lag even after doing the adjustment via the companies info on how to close the gap it still is just a little off so using this device i could use for both pieces of software and have no cross fader lag and be able to scratch on both pieces of software. So I wanted to hear your thoughts on this I know sounds crazy right? I'm only a hobbyist DJ in my home but i do want to be able to mimic and practice things i've seen on youtube by DJ's such as yourself without any issues small or large and this here has bugged me for the longest time that i can't scratch on Traktor loaded up on the DDJ-SZ because it just won't work I"m a big Traktor guy and Serato is powerful indeed but i've been with Traktor for 12-13 years so i kinda know the software in and out Serato not so much i'm still learning it.

the question is who will be the first company to integrate this into their mixers with charging docks and adaptable switches.

Mojaxx, I'm in a family of 3 djs, everyone with their individual setup. Everyone wants their own Phase receiver, will this be an issue if everyone is playing all at once together in the same room???? What if remotes get crossed??? Thanks in Advance

This completely obsoletes the Rane 12 and turntable cartridges. Good riddance-I hate expensive, delicate needles that break, wear out, get covered in fluff, and cost an arm and a leg.

So...you are turning real turntables into control platters. Not sure I understand why you would do this. If you want platters, use platters. If you use this product, you are proving turntables are obsolete, and you just use them because you think it makes you “cool” or a “real dj.” This goes against all that turntable DJs hold to be holy.

I know it sounds like so much extra work , but I'll stick with the purists way of using an actual needle to scratch.

Did anybody notice that throughout the entire video he never actually said what this thing is. Even while mentioning functionalities/perks and benefits. He assumes the only people watching are DJs or at least experienced. Not SB gathering info to get into it.

Cool idea but, too much extra crap I have worry about and plug in. I’m looking for LESS wires to hook up not more! And having to make sure they are always charged is just a pain.

There is only one issue I see for real battle/blend scratch mixtape DJ's are going to have a hard time not using the spindle/stem on the turntables to make quick speed adjustments. I wish I could help design the next design as a dot as small as a vinyl marker in height, I know they have the technology to do it... Hit at illreel@yahoo anytime

Man no disrespect to these turntable guys ...have at it but the crowd just want hot music played all that mixing and scratching shit is great if that’s your thing ...your skills either disgust or impress other djs clients that actually hire you in most cases don’t give a shit about a mix or scratch just play hot fucking music I can’t stress that enough!

Love this technology but sounds overpriced since it needs to be used in conjunction with an already expensive dvs system. Maybe if it came with a license for Virtual Dj or something like that, the price would sound reasonable.

Does it have any wireless security features to keep hackers from messing with it remotely?

I can't wrap my head around the idea that you don't need good turntables to use these. What if you have a TT with a laggy platter motor? Won't that cause a slight delay in speed to normal rate?

What is the latency on HD sound obviously not enough to matter, but do you feel any lag at all?

Mojaxx, thank you! I finally understand what it's doing after watching your video. The Phase box is outputting the timecode signal, not the serato output audio. Don't know why I didn't get that from the others. So, the Phase really just replaces the control vinyl, you still need the DS1 or SL2 or DVS-enabled mixer. Got it. Thanks!!

If I currently don't own a DVS system now, would it be recommended to buy one of them such as the Denon DS-1 (which comes with Serato DJ) before I spend money on Phase? Thanks

I feel bad for rane cause if this didn't come out then the twelves would have been everyone's first choice but with this............ Yeah..... Ima have to "phase" those out of my want wishlist.

Is the sound actually coming from the record is the is already digitized and in the computer. If it's coming from the physical record in real time that's just nuts. Very interesting product.

Wait so this thing doesnt actually read the vinyl? whats even the point then might as well just be using CDJs or a controller. Never understood why people use vinyl yet their music is on the computer that just seems totally unnecessary. Like if ya gonna use vinyl why not just cut the computer bit out and spin some actual vinyl

All I know is Shure didn't have to jump out the game like that. They could have hung around for at least a year post Phase. Then maybe stopped production. I do like this tech I think it will change things.

thats a great ... real vinyl, dvs, or without tonearm... nice dvs upgrade for an affordable price - i wanna see a portable 10"(pls not 7") player less than 400$ next time- that would be great! But hey you only need a tt motor, pitch and you could build this in a custom player ...amazing tech!!!

This is super gimmicky. While it might take some issues out of the equation like dusty needles and table vibration, it also introduces new issues like the battery dying, the sensor getting unglued, the wireless signal getting blocked or having issues connecting to the base unit. Also I backspin the record using the label so this thing is going to get in the way. This won't be a problem for most of you DJs who press buttons to backtrack though lol

the RF technology is what bother me the most in this thing. I'd like to by this product, but what if I have 5 wireless mics on the stage? What if I have 10 of them, which happens very frequently in my case? Can I adjust the frequency on transmitters and the receiver?

Try to build that technology actually inside molded in the record that way there's no bulky piece sitting on the vinyl which I believe still could get in the way of turntable list
