My (RB Senior) worked as a United States Air Force exchange officer with RAF Intelligence in London from 1961-1964. He always raved about the dedication and intelligence of those he worked with there. I see from this interview with Air Marshall Stringer that both remain. A farmer agrees to sell all his crops and invest in new equipment and land to supply a lucrative contract to a supermarket, then once they are all in they squeeze the supermarket margin and the farmer is working flat out for nothing. I think if someone could play close to the end of Monty Python's Life of Brian to Olaf Schultz telling him that Germany is the PFJ (People's Front, not the Popular Front - Splitters) in this scenario I think he might get the message concerning his response to permitting Leopard tanks to Ukraine. I remember the sarcastic complaints of "sipping tea in Brussels" with respect to the formation of the EU. Nothing has reminded me of this until now, however, it is not labeling cheese, but people's lives in the balance. The words from this program I liken to those of St Augustine to a cloistered monk. "This is the first war of the information age" is a statement of such profundity worthy of my setting up a cot in the basement of the ISW to emerge months later with an equivalent to a PhD thesis in hand. I strongly hope the youths at Sandhurst are hanging on ever word and debating at every opportunity. Thanks for your world class reporting.

Nice going Edward Stringer. Go in and biff the Russians now when they are on the ropes and worry about what is going to happen, ten years in the future. The Challenger is an old and close to being a dead duck with nobody wanting its gun or ammo, so use it when there is some use left in it then buy something new and more useful and adaptable for the British forces and its commitments.

There is another narrative circulating and that is the Russian missile was en route to a military infrastructure target when it was shot down by air defences located near the civilian residential building. Russias intention is to demilitarize Ukraine, not decivilianize the country. Civilians don't pose a threat where as a hostile military does so why would Russia lob a million dollar missile on a civilian target when it serves no purpose and would be a public relations setback. This report may be completely wrong but there is a certain reasonable logic to it. If the US spent 100 billion dollars looking after the welfare of its own people and not interfering in the domestic affairs of other countries by way of coups and proxy and not so proxy wars, US population would be 100 billion dollars better of with free schools, hospitals, affordable housing for the working American poor, US infrastructure like rapid rail and functional public transport systems and the rest of the world wouldn't be guessing who is the next country on the US list to destroy. God bless the vulnerable and poor in the US and we pray that at some point the war criminals who have slithered their way into influential government positions will finally behave like responsible adults and abandon the cold War paranoias that were beaten into them from childhood and see the rest of the world as potential friends rather than enemies to slaughter.

My reply comments: 1: Ramstein (in private) will change everything for Ukraine. The US is prepared to send a full Combined Arms Brigade by the end of March. If Europe does not do its part, a 2ND CA Brigade will be deployed by the end of May. These will be the spearhead of 2 Ukrainian Offensive Divisions of 4 CA Brigades each. The US would like a UK CA Brigade including Warriors and a EU CB Brigade of Leopard 2s and Marders. We will see when everything is deployed. Euro Talk is plentiful and cheap. The US talks softly and carriers the biggest stick. 2: UKs future military development can go one of 3 ways: UK only; UK partners with US; UK partners with Poland. The UK is great at experimenting and development. It has a superiority in fire control, ammo, and armor. Poland will certainly absorb Ukrainian tank and IFV/APC factories as part of Ukrainian Reconstruction. UK should partner with Poland to ensure any future Polish-South Korean technology includes UK input built in part in the UK. If this is not done, the UK has to become a subsidiary of a US firm with government mandated production partly in the UK. 3: The UK, maybe in cooperation with Jordan, should supply Ukraine a full Combined Arms Brigade based on Challenger 2s, maybe Challenger 1s, and Warriors. The UK is training the Ukrainians to man this CB Brigade. 4: Post WW2 important events have both historical +/- than were described. A-Korea defined the Pacific. B-Arab/Israeli Wars displayed ew weapons and tactics used to this day. C-Russia’s Afghanistan combined with Reagan’s US arms build up accentuated by a Polish Pope all led to the Soviet Union collapse. D-Putin’s War On Ukraine is decisive immediately for Europe and possibly for the world if Russia has a regime change. 5: He only dropped a tidbit at the end about Ukrainian Reconstruction. Here is my quick fill in: A-Ukraine needs a defendable barrier border 3000M to 5000M deep with NO roads or railways crossing it. This will have wire, traps, mines, manned fighting positions, and cameras/sensors where it’s not manned. B-All bridges crossing the Dnipro River have to be rebuilt as drawbridges rising to the west. C-All Ukrainian railways have to be relayed to EU standard gauge. All engines and rolling stock need wheel adjustments. D-Both an Air Force base and Army base have to be built halfway between Kyiv and Odessa for US/NATO security guarantees for Ukraine.
@lesterquintrell4844
@lesterquintrell4844 Год назад
Bomb all the bridges over the Dnipro and nothing is getting to the front, Ukraine has to have people to use these weapons, ukraine just hasn't got them and won't have, NATO will in the end turn tail and run leaving Ukraine on their own .. the people of the west will not be going along with this even if this dream of yours comes true, we have already had enough, Zelensky will be removed soon anyway.

@Stephen Sipe - These are really great ideas. I'm so glad people are thinking about the rebuilding phase of Ukraine and how to keep them safe from an inevitable renewed Russian invasion in a few decades. I especially liked the draw-bridges idea!!! One question on number 4 - what impact did the Polish Pope have? Was it on the population of the USSR or the leaders? Or something else?

@@velvetmagnetta3074 The Polish Pope did 2 things. He gave the Solidarity Unionists the courage of faith to stand down Poland’s Communist Military government. The other thing the Pope did was call a united Christian conclave to pray for the Consecration Of Russia. This was a Command from the Vision at Fatima, Portugal in 1917.

Ukraine should have started moving it’s considerable Military industries to Poland as soon as the war began. This way when the west runs it if things to give, Ukraine’s own industry would have been ready to pick up where they left of and brought the war to final victory.
