Strikes on Russian oil refineries have a significant impact on Russia’s ability to conduct warfare. Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, Commander of U.S. Forces Europe in 2014-17, stated this during the 16th annual Kyiv Security Forum. “Of course, attacks on oil refineries have a significant impact. Russia is less able to pay for this war, and it also deprives it of the necessary fuel to continue hostilities. I would recommend ignoring the calls for an end to such attacks.”
The Lieutenant General emphasized that sanctions against Russia need to be strengthened. He also added that 2024 will be the year of industrial competition. “Ukraine and the West should win this competition. I am talking about of course building up ammunition supplies, but also moving forward maintenance capabilities so that the Ukrainian soldiers can fix forward equipment that is broken or damaged on site, as well as increasing their ammunition stocks.”
According to Hodges, Ukraine should put pressure on Russian logistics, particularly in Crimea, to make the peninsula unusable for Russian troops. “I would not expect a dramatic drop in Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. The job of (new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) Syrskyi will be to stabilize the situation on the front line, but industrial competition will play a role here, while the Ukrainian army needs new units to ensure rotation”.
----------
Ben Hodges is a retired United States Army officer, who became commander of United States Army Europe in November 2014, and held that position for three years until retiring from the United States Army in January 2018. He was most recently a Senior Advisor to Human Rights First, until summer 2023, and serves as NATO Senior Mentor for Logistics. Until recently was the Pershing Chair in Strategic Studies, at the Centre for European Policy Analysis, specialising in NATO, the Transatlantic relationship and international security.

I’m a little person. I’m moderately educated. I’m old. I have lived all over the world. I have seen the Cuban missile crisis, the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the folding of the Soviet Union and my brain is screaming “Stop taking this conflict lightly!” All elements are in place for the perfect storm. The only rationale for western sources discouraging attacks on Russian oil refineries is a potential increase in gas prices in the U.S. during an election year. Losing the white house is worse than a several months ban on those attacks.

Concur. I'll reluctantly vote for Trump, but I hope he'll be smarter than his supporters are and make opening the American energy sector a primary objective. If Pedophi|e Joey had done so early on, Putin would have been beggared & destabilized last year. Furthermore, Pedophi|e Joey could actually, I dunno, *LEAD* by rallying conservatives to support Ukraine & facing down the handful of Froot Loops like MTG who are believing Kremlin claims. It's pretty hard to pretend Russia should be anything but an international pariah once one becomes even moderately familiar with the vast assortment of crimes against humanity being conducted in the ethnic cleansing of Ukraine. EDIT - I'm generally shadow banned by YewTub

An excellent (and quite detailed!) composition of what has happened, plus a myriad of deep thoughts on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 24 February 2022. Lieutenant General Ben Hodges has given us, the bystanders, a small insight into what could really be extracted from the bag of Defence (and dare we say attack!) in the coming months....let's hope & pray it is not Years!! RIP to those having lost souls during this truly dreadful time! God Bless Them 🙏

Now we're knocking on nuclear war, and the stupidity of mass delirium is saying "Let's keep it up, Russia won't do it". The Minsk Accord was to stop this WAR before it even started!!! Ben Hodges comments at 29:00 shine the light on a lack of US political will to lead and follow through. It is embarrassing and disgusting that they have the gall to shake a finger at Ukraine on their successful attacks against Russian oil refineries while refusing to do what's needed to end Russia's horrendous warring attacks against Ukraine.

Studying the lay of the land and the resources available along with the people involved within the conflict on both sides. Bluntly reasonable ideas to resolve the conflict in a post cold War arena. For those civilians who don't understand the rules of modern warfare, this is a good crib sheet to study. Lt General Ben Hodges has many videos in several venues to watch. Always on point.

General Hodges' willingness to participate in key organizations, as well as accept interviews readily accessible to the public is much appreciated. Regarding the Suwalki gap, why there is so much fretting over a ~60 mile section of border between Poland and Lithuania? That it is the shortest path between Belarus and Kaliningrad could pose as much a liability for Russia as an asset. NATO has 'boatloads' of defensive assets nearby, likely making it the WORST place for Russia to attack. If they did, NATO would declare 'open season' to invade Kaliningrad, sink all ships, and block use of the Baltic sea. Russia then must deal with a long, very narrow 'finger' of forces surrounded on 3 sides by NATO. That sounds like a nightmare for Russia.

Jonathon Fink is so smart that he goes above most people’s heads, let’s face it. The level of education in the U.S. is so dreadful, kids that graduate college can’t even understand plain English. Even Ben Hodges, who has been living in Europe for some time, is head and shoulders intellectually above most American generals of his rank, which is why all the European channels love to interview him. To have Ben Hodges be President of the U.S. would be a dream come true! I’m so proud as an American to have him speaking to the world on behalf of my country. 🇺🇦🇺🇸

It worries me, to see the world getting crazy while this generation of experienced & clear minded individuals has been tetired. The EU is helping with taking in millions of Ukrainien women, children, elders giving them shelter, work and money to live and send home. Just like the arab countries live off selling their oil, the US lives off selling their military to the world. Indeed it would not be a violation of International Law to insist that any ship that does not meet safety and inspection standards NOT be allowed to transit. That you claim otherwise is based on ignorance of the law or simply displays your unwillingness or fear.
