For everyone who's been rooting for these series to continue: We're finally back after a long Odyssey :) The second Arcana session is now up (specially dedicated to you), and there's more to follow shortly! Thanks so much for your heartwarming, motivating words and for your support -it means everything! Bright weavings to all of you for a better year ahead. Stay safe in 2021!
Absolutely amazing .. I have come to the end of the line and the beginning it seems lol I had started out a constant drawer and lover of mythology and philosophy as a teen .. to a hard nosed non fiction please know it all , all about the material and science and psychology of the mind type of strategy to understanding and working with life .. then had my world flipped upside down to realize there is much more to it then we realized as was ripped out of my body and travel through time now and awareness in most fractals yet strung together mannerism of a god with a major sense of humor and mild sense of obsessions with water and flowers lmao .. To back to now rediscovered love for using art and stories to understand this reality .. and understand how reality works on me .. and how we are all connected and so on .. in so many more ways on this journey, then I ever could of believed I have no in the flesh friends like me yet who experiences such versions of perceptions of reality and time .. so ty .. I felt like as it feels when talking to guides and “ friends “ from other spaces and places .. just as it felt when randomly stumbled upon Alan moores promethea work this week It gets me all warm and fuzzy and light up like a lightening storms skies ;) I look forward to discovering more of both of your works. The interviewer who I just now stumbled upon who seemed just as genuine as he.
I have listened to and read almost all Alan Moore interviews and this one is unique enough and comprehensive enough to be my new favorite. Who in God’s name gave this a thumbs down? WTF. Seriously.
Thanks so much! There will always be people who don't resonate -it's all about frequency...We're all transmitters and receivers. Those on the same frequency get the message. To the rest, it is as if we don't exist, as they can't tune in (and vice versa) :)
@@TheBrightlightlion Just think he's a clown. Sigil magic doesn't really work in the way he professes to understand. He gets on my wick, I might turn him into a frog if he's not careful.
Thank you wholeheartedly! You're too kind :) I'm just a polymath (or mega nerd :) who spent her childhood and youth as a bookworm when everyone insisted I should be partying I guess (and I wouldn't have it any other way) :D I dream therefore I exist!
@@themaskandthemirror777my wife is the same; she speaks 6 languages and knows everything,a paragon of knowledge. She had a very sheltered life and read books constantly. I feel like a turnip of knowledge compared tae her. She is a wonderful woman. I love her so much but don't have the vocabulary to express it enough. I love this interview - I could listen Moore talking for years on end. The Daemon encounter was really frightening. I would never get involved in that.
“Art is how we measure ourselves” I found this tremendously valuable, I listened two days ago and he words still resonating inside me. Alan really makes you think about what being an artist ( or being an human) really is . This interview is transformational , it lifted a fire inside me. It’s very difficult to believe in oneself sometimes but after listen this man and his integrity it obvious to me that’s the name of the game! It was a pleasure to listen to your questions and insight and I’m looking forward to your content. The comments about the last issue of Promethea were gold !
Thank you so much for your interest and good words. ''Integrity is the name of the game'' -with you 100%. It's vital that artists like Alan are heard - to quote Rushdie, ''a poet's work is to name the unnameable, to point out frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it going to sleep''....
Magickal blessings upon the algorithmic Gods for putting this in my path this evening! Upon a vapid sea of "content" this conversation feels like a little life raft. Very inspiring, thanks.
Been listening to a lot of moores interviews. Never heard of anyone who was as well educated on these topics. You kept up incredibly well. Very impressed
In a maddening world, this stuff keeps me going. Thank you for sharing your conversation with Alan Moore. May everyone find their own version of Glycon.
Jonathon D Thanks for this Jonathon -this stuff has always been what kept me going too. This is why I started this channel, trying to help others going too (you need to howl to the rest of your pack in this maddening world). Love
This is the art of con verse at ion at its most gently balletic...an empathetic duet of listening and inspiring. Beautiful to witness one more jewel in Indrah's net shining...marvellous both of you.
One of the best Alan Moore interviews I had the pleasure to listen to. And the animations are wonderful! Looking forward to more videos from your channel.
Can't thank you enough for this comment Victor -it means everything. Thank you for joining us on the same wavelength -High Priestess coming up next (all I can say is my choice will surprise you:)
He's one of the wisest and kindest people alive. It's really striking how much better read, and better at thinking, he is than most politicians and people in the media. Society really needs this stuff.
Thank you for this comment -I completely agree with you and this is one of the main reasons I started this series. High Priestess is to be interviewed shortly after the 23rd this month. Hope you like the next episode and stay with us!
Great interview, really enjoyed it. I've noticed that when Alan Moore gets going about his favourite subjects (Northampton, magick/art, eternalism), his "chats" tend to turn into lectures. However, you did a good job of staying involved. I've also noticed that Alan has certain routines, like the "bits" of a stand-up comedian, that he seems to know play well. For example, the bit about, "if a bard put a satire on you" - I recognised that from "The Mindscape" (from 2003!) But there was plenty of new content, too. I particularly liked it when Alan went into some detail regarding his thoughts on magick - such as when he talked about Qabalah symbolism. It did not escape my notice that he referred to The Moon And Serpent book as "hopefully forthcoming" ... It's been "Coming Soon" on the Top Shelf website for about 9 years now! I know Alan has released a ton of stuff in that time - Dodgem Logic, Jerusalem, Jimmy's End, Provenance, Cinema Purgatorio - and there's the not-insignificant business of Steve leaving the physical plane of Malkuth for the lunar sphere .... I'm just saying, maybe it was premature to start talking about The Moon And Serpent book so early on (like a decade before release). Anyway, thanks again for the interview. And the accompanying graphics are really great, too.
I asked the question about the moon and serpent book on a thread that was on his Facebook page about a year ago and his daughter Leah commented back and said that it had been very difficult for him to finish the book since Steve had passed as Steve was his best friend and mentor but also said that he had hopes of completing and releasing it soon.
This is a simply wonderful interview, Lena Korkovelou. You have a very rare talent. The visuals are actually well-selected and genuinely resonate with the subjects. We look forward to more, no pun intended.
What an amazing interview ^^ Just finished reading Promethea, and reading Jerusalem now. Alan Moore becomes a woman with a really full cup... 1200+ pages full.
Fantastic discussion. I've listened to many Alan Moore conversations and interviews but have never actually read anything by him as I'm not a reader of comics or fantasy in general, but listening to this reminded me to rectify that and I ordered Jerusalem.
So many beautiful and enlightening threads woven into this conversation. There is a point near the end of the interview at 2:01:12 where Lena's question leads us into drifting red embers flickering to the purposeful deep resonance of Alan's voice that gives me hope in 2020.
This is an interview I'm going to come back to, it's a dream to have such a massive and wide-ranging interview with Alan Moore. Would that I had known of this a year ago, but oh well. Back to winding my way through Jerusalem, with fresh inspiration!
God he's such a legend and this is such a wonderful interview. I love the beginning talking about MYTH and mysticism and people looking away from that tradition is favor of rationalism.♥️ Thanks so much.
It's still here, at least in certain places, although you have to look harder for it. We just need to not let it completely fade away (dare I say rekindle it or am I reaching? I still have hope we won't turn into...Granbretan ;) Thanks for listening!
Alan Moore is my idol, but he repeats a lot of what he said in The Mindscape of Alan Moore. Lena seems to be very knowable in art, history, mythology and magick, really looking forward to see what else you can share for us.
I agree and disagree. He does comprehensively cover much of the stuff in mindscape but also much is added too it, with much perspective no less. I’d say at least 25% more material. At least!
Wow! This is a truly phenomenal appearance and display from both parties, kudos to whatever frequency these two were dialed into. Such beautiful chemistry.
You and the rest of the people who took the time to listen and comment here are the gift to me. It's all about getting messages across, sharing, and I can't really express how it makes me feel that this has touched so many of you so profoundly. It's taken quite some time as I work with limited time and resources, but the next ''card'', the High Priestess has found us and her interview will be up soon, beginnings of next month. Hope you like it and thank you, from my heart!
I absolutely love this, there’s far too much I love about it for me to comment on it at all or I’d be writing for weeks. I love the VR talk especially. That level of immersion can do incredible things for us. I try to use that idea in my own life these days, even just by surrounding myself with images that make me feel a certain way. Which isn’t anything unusual obviously, everyone’s done that for millennia. But knowing how profound an effect it has can completely turn your life around
Alan, please, for Earth's sake, have a conversation with Duncan Trussel. That young man is in a mental space where your ideas would blow his mind currently. I know you aren't a fan of Netflix probably, but the show that he did with Pendleton Ward, The Midnight Gospel, is a true occult masterpiece in my opinion. Also maybe peruse my own works? I'm trying to bring magick into new cultural areas. Thank you for the lifetime of inspiration, brother!
And thank you Lena! Your background knowledge seemed invaluable in moving this dialogue forward past points that I've seen Alan get stuck on with other interviewers. For example, the close relationship between language and magick seemed like more of a mutually understood underpinning to the dialogue here rather than a point to be extensively expounded. It left room for much deeper explorations later on.
This was beautiful and extremely touching. You both are such dears! I loved hearing your childlike wonder. Looking forward to the rest of the series, and delighted to find your meticulous bookshelves on goodreads as well ♡
Anyone who enjoyed Alan in this would also probably enjoy The Mindscape of Alan Moore, it's a bit more biographical but it contains many of his same ideas but with more detail. I love the Promethea stuff at the end. Im actually working on my adaptation of Promethea right now. I do narration and voice acting for old forgotten comics, come play in my imagination sometime if you want on my channel. I did Alan's Lovecraft trilogy already.
Thank you for this. I agree with others on here this is the very best interview with Moore I've listened to. It's something you can go back to over and over again and find something new. Well done!
Your projet has been just starting and you seem to have attracted some attention interviewing Alan. Best of luck for your channel. The production and the interview are really good!
Fantastic interview Lena, thanks for putting this out. I am glad that RU-vid actually brought this up for me after searching for 'Alan Moore', took it's time as I normally search out interviews or whatever with Alan on here monthly so am not sure why this hasn't come up before, the most recent interview that I can find. I hope he's okay during this pandemic and I am sure he is, and you! Thanks again, Ian aka Dr Nitrogen
this is excellent. definitely one of the more inspiring conversations I've heard in awhile, and I'm only 1/2 through. Thank you for making this, truly making my night richer
Really enjoyed the interview, Lena. Letting the interviewee speak freely and moving the conversation on when the time was right. Visuals must be a lot of work too. Love the concept for the series and hope there are more in the pipeline.
Thank you so much for this fascinating interview, When Moore expounds on anything that he’s passionate about I can never get enough of it, if he gave a history on the history of ice cream parlors in Northampton I think I would want to hear the entire thing. 😁
Fantastic conversation and points raised. Opening up and making such content approachable and inclusive the way Lena and Alan unravel the language of MAKING and the practice of creating as a tool available to all, is a very necessary path to be carved and rendered carvable, especially nowadays, considering the visual and verbal cluster a current mind has to swim through. Μπράβο Λένα!
I can't really convey in words how beneficial was this interview. Im obviously gratefull for sharing this marvelous pice of knowledge, but I also want to let you know that I'm going to use as inspiration a lot of this make my own "stuff". Thank you.
The interesting thing in adulthood I found that when a book was present that I had been reading conversation often seemed to have an element of fear on the part of the other speaker depending upon the other person’s proclivity in obtaining knowledge
This has been highly enlightening. Even (or especially) because I'm not new to these topics or Alan Moore's work and talks (and being an artist myself). Thank you so much. Great conversation!
The references to consciousness being plugged into a virtual / synthetic realities reminds me of Iain M Banks’ Culture novels - he describes this kind of thing in a number of those books. Human imagination becoming reality ( Gene Roddenberry inventing the concept of iPads in the form of tricorders approximately half a century before they appeared in the ‘real’.
The Mask and the Mirror thank you so so much ! Here’s one that’s inspired by his work - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uuji3MnyudU.html
Your wish has been granted -I actually thought it would never happen for some time, but I have recorded two more interviews and scheduled another two, so it's looking great for the new year:)
I been inspired by Moore as an artist and writer myself for years, actually working on comics that pull from his philosophies and ideas, I have listened to so many interviews and even though this one has a lot of similar discussions I heard before, hearing this one was an amazing trip. Almost like magic, I feel re energized and ready to tackle my art block again.
@@ThunderChunky101 If the definition of communist (and I am assuming you mean Stalinist and Maoist dictatorships like the ones my family was killed in and escaped) that are Big Gov police states that use the police to suppress individuals, kill people, suppress free speech and media, and put people in cages while suppressing individualism and rights for person freedom, that also have some figurehead people worship in a zealot religious fashion with their own flags and slogans, then I think that is the former NYC Democrat friend of the Clintons and Epstein, Mr. Trump. Who not only is an unreligious serial adulator, but current wife is an illegal immigrant from a foreign Communist Party family. Not only that Trump was so cozy with Communist and USSR dictators like Putin, Kim, and the PRC, that it would make Reagan spin in his grave. Moore called out Stalin in V for Vendetta, so if he's a communist then all the cultist Blue Line police police supporting Trumpers are basically Stalinists by that scale.
I've always wondered if his rebirth as a magician at 40 had anything to do with him losing all his Watchmen money on the Big Numbers project, that project breaking down, and his wife, girlfriend and kids all leaving and moving to Liverpool, which all happened a year or two prior.
Thanks so much for your support! The High Priestess is coming soon -her interview is to take place shortly after the 23rd this month and uploaded in July :) Hope you like it as much as this one!
Great conversation! Can't wait for more from you Lena! Love this man, he has deeply affected my life and my ideals. I've listened to this many times, and you do a great job of keeping a guy with a lot of information in his head on track. Very excited for the future of your channel! Always try to learn Moore;)
Our High Priestess is coming beginning of July, but her identity will remain secret for now (I think most of you would appreciate the surprise element :) Really excited too,and so grateful for your support! Nothing is possible without you -the ''cards'' want to reach you, it is you that they speak to, really, I'm just the messenger :)
@@themaskandthemirror777 Can't wait! That sounds amazing. What do you mean by "cards"? (I ordered a new tarot deck this morning, what a wonderful coincidence)
simon lopez Thanks Simon! It means a lot to me to know you love this channel. I am a freelance journalist so it’s this love that will keep it going :) Love back
I found this channel through synchrony. My friends was telling me about alan moore the other day. I already knew about him and his magical practice, although not very much... but my friend was referencing him a lot the other day because me and my friend have been talking about magic lately.. and my friend is much more knowledgeable about occult stuff. and then earlier today I found an author that I really like named Mark Warren who is an author of nature-related topics. I looked this guys name up on google and a completely unrelated book called "spirits of place" came up because there were 2 separate contributors to the book, one of them having Mark in his name, and another having Warren in his name... and then i saw that in this same book, alan moore was also a contributor.. so i started reading the book, and the books content was actually particularly relevant to a lot of things that I've been contemplating lately.. so I instinctively dove into it... after reading a bit through it I decided to look up Alan Moore only to find this seemingly particularly good interview uploaded only a few days ago by a new channel. I'm definitely going to listen to alan moore much more now. and I'm now a subscriber... your channel seems like it will go places! Keep interviewing/discussing stuff! it's helpful!
Great story, thanks for taking the time to write it and for sharing! Life can be stranger than fiction ;) Also many thanks for subscribing -it's vital for freelancers such as yours truly. Wishing you many happy journeys on the feather's of Mr Moore's pen:) And I'm glad to have you on board!
@@themaskandthemirror777 I would like to recommend the two authors that were relevant in my recent contemplations regarding the "things that I've been contemplating lately" as mentioned in my comment. i'd like to recommend them because that book 'spirits of place' that alan moore contributed to - talks about very similar things I've heard these 2 other authors talking about... and something tells me to refer them to you. the first author is David Abram - who is a magician/anthropologist/ecologist/naturalist/etc. this guy studied magic with indigenous shamans by travelling to Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. he was able to study with them because he has actually been a street magician performing magic for people and used his skill to become apprenticed to actual shamans. here's a good article scott.london/interviews/abram.html and the second author is a guy named Stephen Buhner.. this guy talks about all kinds of stuff (20+books under his name) but one of the first things that caught my attention with guy is his claim that (paraphrasing): "all throughout our historical and anthropological records, indigenous people worldwide have claimed that they gained the knowledge of medicinal plant uses through communion with the plants themselves. through sensuous immersion in the plants world as a daily meditation - your consciousness begins to merge with the plants and the knowledge sometimes comes in the form of visions/dreams/etc wherein a plant spirit will visit you". now this is completely paraphrased but that's the gist.. he actually goes insanely in-depth with the whos/whats/whens/where's/why's and even how's!. this guy helped opened me up to spiritual dimensions and he's VERY well articulated; which is another thing that drew me to him. both of these guys... Buhner's work is riddled with magic and has helped me understand magic. anyways... check these 2 people out when you get the chance. I think they might be of interest
Resonance , Portsmouth and sell out .... I was that 11-plus disconnect. Great interview. Who does the graphics and with what engine ! Keep up the great work.
