I'd love to see Ma Long play many, many more years to come, but realistically, I see him retiring after the 2020 Olympic Games. 2 Olympic Golds and 3 World Titles would be a great way to end his unbelievable career. Like I said in my other comment, there may not be a player quite like him after him, and we should really appreciate seeing him play while he's active.

I think he will want to do such thing but I don't believe it will be possible. Even for Ma Long the up and coming competition is too fierce for a 35 year old to handle. Lately we have seen Ma Long forced to take so much time off for injury. The training is just too intense for a 35 year old body to handle, no matter how much he is careful. I would rather he retire at his peak than watch a slow and gradual decline. Considering all that he has accomplished, he has nothing left to prove.

What are you talking about? Rules are rules, and you play by the rules in any sport. Rule changes are never a persuasive excuse for the records and achievements of the individual athletes. Besides, you can't assume that the current players couldn't adjust their game if they played in the past. You're making an unfounded assumption.

Also, you must realize the styles you mentioned became less effective because of advancements in table tennis in terms of technique and strategies.
