Today on Aussie Garage we drop in on fellow RU-vidr Shane from @Shanes_Shed . First we check out his 1989 Chevrolet Suburban. Shane found this on Facebook advertised in Queensland and brought it sight unseen after the sale of his LJ Torana that was not family friend. He was living in Tom Price, Western Australia at the time and was starting to moving back to Perth, so this Chevy Suburban was a huge help.
This thing is a beast with a ton of room inside and big footprint on the road. It's running a standard 454 big block Chevy engine that is Fuel Injected, turbo 400 and what sounds like a small truck diff of a GM 14 Bolt Diff. The Chevy Suburban is 5.5metre long, so parking in this rig is reversing in only.
Shane had enough room to fit 16 full moving box whilst traveling back Perth from Tom Price, so you know the family will be very comfortable in this truck.
Although she's a good runner these things were never built for performance so Shane has some plans to bring the engine to life with some improvements in the future by rebuilding the engine with more performance power. The interior feels huge, there are 3 rows of seats all with ample leg room and they are all super comfortable to sit in. And you feel like your stepping straight back into the 1980s as the trim is still original and has held up well over the years. Its even got a roof consul. It has Electric Windows and electric rear window on the tailgate as well.
On the outside the unknown paint colour glistens blue with a nice metallic flip, toped off with an aftermarket shiny grill and 8 stud chrome wheels. this land tanker is built to haul whether it be people or moving boxes its up for it.
Shane also has his own RU-vid channel called Shane's Shed (@Shanes_Shed ) he likes to fix things so his content is all about fixing different things on different cars, whatever is needed to keep his, friends and families cars going. As a result, his how to videos helps others with there GQ Patrols, Defender 3 and other cars to find the solutions to there problems. He lets them know what tools, parts and time they will require to fix it at home. Now Shane's Workshop is just the average garage at home, no hoist or fancy tools, but pure old fashion elbow grease and thinking outside the box.
