Okay its Day 1 at Meguiars MotorEx 2024 at the Melbourne Showground and there is loads to see. Let's get cracking with Interviews and checking out the greatest builds and displays in Australia.
1955 Ford COE (Cab Over Engine) Truck with Darren
This 1955 Ford COE Truck started life in Arizona as a C600 Prime Mover and now has been transformed into a oversize F100 truck. Darren and the team have customized every panel and piece of sheet metal on this vehicle, including lengthening the front by 120mm, changing the side steps to suit and customising the rear guards to fit the Dually set up of the wide tires. This build has taking 12 years to achieve, but what a awesome job they have done.
Classic Fab and Finish are responsible for most of the work and Johnson Restoration and Paint finished it off. There were loads more involved along the way, but Darren thanks them all. Its still running the wide block V8 engine with a turbo 400 transmission and 2 speed electronic diff. The response that Darren has been receiving at MotorEx is overwhelming and so it should be.
Allan 1978 HZ Holden Premier - Unrestored and Original
Allan's 1978 HZ Holden Premier may be the base model Premier released with no Power Steering or Air Conditioning, but this vehicle is original and unrestored. All brought this in 2016 from a elderly gentleman that had it sitting in the garage for over 10 years not moving.
Since then, Allan has spent over 1500 hours detailing this car to get it back its former glory and he has achieved this for sure. The Interior is immaculate in every way and Allan purchased a rare find in deed.
Tuff Streeter Interview and Display
Josh from Tuff Streeters are trying to give access to regular Australian to win tuff American and Australian Muscle Cars that are now out of reach for everyday Aussies due to the over 6 figure cost for fully restored vehicles. Rob's XW Ford Falcon GT - AGROJG
This is XW has been a dream of Rob's for over 30 years and the XW Ford Falcon GT was his holy grail of cars on his bucket list. They went to Dandy Engine to see Frank about purchasing a car but that fell through, however, Frank had this Ford GT in the build. As soon they saw it, they know they had a blank canvas to work from and turn back the clock to Broadmeadows Ford Factory. This wanted to option to car as they would have back in the day with a few small twists along the way.
The restoration took 2 years roughly to complete through Frank at Dandy Engines and Rob from Automotive Creations with his son. Between these two, they knocked it out of the park.
The Engine looks period correct from the outside, but it a Arrow Block that has been stroked to 434 V8 Engine. The paint is factory Candy Apple Red but with a deeper lock, by removing a little bit of the pink to give it a more apple look in the light and outside. The AGROJG is the perfect build of old and new.
Falcon GT Club of Victoria with Phil
The Falcon GT Club of Victoria have this display at MotorEx to drum up interest for the Ford GT Nationals in Shepperton in 2025 and there were lovely GT's Displayed.
Phil also owns a number of Ford GT's including the BF 40th Anniversary GT, XR Ford GT and XT Ford GT here at MotorEx 2024. It was a great display and love seeing this GT's which is one of my dream cars.
