What gets me is the disrespect shown to our serving soldiers by people who should know better. People yank on the reins and torment the horses. The best video I have seen is of a young autistic girl wearing ear defenders who politely asked the guard if she could stroke his horse - she was lovely.

I was walking past Horseguards one lunchtime in the 70's and saw a woman stroking a horses withers, her presumed husband taking photos, the horse did not like it as stamped on her foot. She hobbled back to hubby who was still snapping, the horse appeared to laugh and the Guard gave it a pat and mouthed "Nice one". Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at their hotel or the flight back to the States. She was not happy!

@tileuxspot on, and those cameras had rolls of film in them that had to be developed into photographs and paid for before being put in the family photo album. No sharing to social media and thinking they are famous photographers. Photos I take are of buildings and are for my own personal pleasure not the whole world and their mother's. I have no interest in being famous, unlike them I'm not a vain conceited piece of baggage who thinks they are SO special and the whole world should revolve around them. Half of these people think they are on cat walk at London Fashion Week, especially teenage and early 20 year old girls. The guards absolutely need to be protected as well as the horses. It’s really quite simple : keep the masses away from the guards and horses. So much could be solved by drawing the line. A big fat red line that delineates where people are allowed to stand and not stand. This will keep people away from the guards and horses. Because for the most part, people don’t have common sense or even a sense of integrity and what is proper, London you have to draw the line for them to maintain the honor of your history and military. The way the grounds operate now, YOU WILL FAIL AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FAIL until a change happens that will protect the integrity of your military and country.

They should be included in the busking licenses since they are stationary at the same location. @user-rk9it9hz6g So true. I can only speak for myself here - and I’m certainly not trying to be “holier than thou” by any means - but over the years I’ve visited places like Peru, Germany, Switzerland, America, Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, Spain and more - and getting a sense of the local culture, traditions and expectations as well as the dos and don’t’s matters. But none more so than making an effort to learn a little of the language and show some respect. Do that, and you’ll rarely if ever go wrong. And there you have it……that lady just said on camera that…..“We saw it on Facebook actually where the horses have been biting everybody. So, we thought we’d come down to see if it would bite us, but no, no it didn’t.” I’ve been saying that many are purposely provoking & agitating the horses, to try and get them to bite, and the guards to get them to yell (“Do not touch the King’s/Queen’s lifeguard!” -or- “Do not touch the reins!” etc...etc.). They’ve seen them do it on social media videos, so it has now become a challenge or game to tourists/visitors, and they do any & everything to make it happen so they can get that perfect shot or video that they can post online for Clicks & Likes. They do not care that what they’re doing is causing the horses to become agitated and either lash out by biting and/or try to buck out & away from their box; and it’s disruptive to the guards that are trying to perform their duties. Not to mention, it can be dangerous for the guards, horses, & visitors/tourists if the horses stop cooperating. Unbelievable! 😒

@@LizTH …..Yes, the sign is there, and for the first couple of days people seemed to adhere to the new rule of ot touching the horses and were even standing against the walls to take their pictures. The horses seemed more calm, as well as the guards; and it wasn’t as chaotic and crowded. But now, the visitors have begun reverting back to their previous behavior and standing closer & closer to the horses and putting their hands out, like they have a treat or something in their hands, in hopes of enticing and getting the horses to initiate contact with them first. That way they can then go back to touching, petting, and hugging the horses once again. And if anyting is said, they can claim that the horses touched them first. Just another sneaky way of disobeying the rules, getting their way, and getting their perfect picture and/or video to post on social media showing that they got away with it. 🙄😏

Very pleased with this report. I follow several YT who are informative and interesting and I have learnt a lot more of our history and the history of the Household Cavalry.. Since I started watching it has become so noticeable of the increase in YT’s, much larger crowds for such a small area, the poor and disrespectful behaviour which has taken away a lot of the interest in following my few YT’s. The decision made for the public not to touch the horses is excellent. We all know the horses are military and are not a petting zoo. It was well over 50 years ago that I first saw the guards and their horses. I still remember the awe of seeing the guards in the splendour and their magnificent horses. I am sure that it would have not been allowed to touch the horse, let alone get so close to the guard. I’m glad the guard has spoken out. One more thing, it is interesting watching the crowds…they never seem interested in the buildings, their architecture or history! It’s just another click opportunity, then move on.

People should use respect for everyone there, especially the Soldiers, Police and horses. Stopping the touching and petting of horses was a good idea, as it keeps people at a distance, not too close. Watching the videos, you can see the horses temperment. Some really like the interaction, for awhile, but after awhile you can see that they tire of it. Some, demand a healthy respect to stay way back....There are a few youtubers who are very respectful, teach people about the guards and horses, to respect them. I enjoy being able to see London everyday, and hear a lovely accent. They film very touching scenes, funny scenes. They don't post everything they see, because the privacy of the soldiers, not giving criminals publicity, or someone who is hurt or in distress. I enjoy the pageantry and history. Hope to get back to London someday.

Great video, I can only say that there is only one legit person who has always held HCAV to high respect and the is John from LondonCityWalks, he’s not standing there for hours on end just pointing 5 cameras at the front. He shares commentary, history, etc about all there is to horse guards. It’s what sets his channel apart from all of these other scummy channels who only seek to make cash off of incidents that occur. I realize the troopers concerns when it comes to the filming, but it’s honestly not like that with John imo, I think his community would share the same opinion. Click bait titles, incorrect spelling & in such a way it gives a totally different aspect to the situation. This is turn causes terrible arguments in comments .Accusations of abuse to the horses, or that it is *only a tourist attraction*. Also all tourists should do their research before they travel. When they get into a country they should respect the country and it's traditions. Love the new signs. In fact should have a code tourists can download to give more information and also rules on how to have respect. Also should have guides there to educate the tourists. I agree with this. The whole “well, the sign is in English, and they may not be able to read English” excuse holds absolutely no water with me - and for one simple reason: if you’re going to travel to ANY other country (and that’s you and I included) you not only have to factor the language and local dialect into the equation, but more importantly… how in the hell are you managing to make it thru a day let alone travelling the world without even making an effort in such an important element?!? I think the best thing they can do right now is make some new signs (the ADHD in me is a little bugged-out by the spacing of the new word) and add a big ol’ QR code underneath it that can instantly inform people in their own language of both the dos and don’ts of Horse Guards Parade, but also respect and etiquette.

I think there should be a limited amount of licenses that content creators/streamers/RU-vidrs have to pay for to film within the military owned yard. There are too many people filming now, and I agree they are fighting amongst themselves and it’s getting uncomfortable to see as a viewer. I know the pavement is public property and they can’t stop people from filming there, but limiting the people allowed in the yard, like they have to have a visible license tag on their person so the MOD are constantly having to check. And then if other people without license sneak in to film, at least they won’t be able to do so with huge poles with three phones attached, they’d have to be discreet. (And if caught, thrown out).

The gold standard re filming there is John, of the London City Walks channel on here. He wasn’t there the day you filmed. Has total respect, isn’t there daily, isn’t ever there for more than 1-2 hours, ( usually one), refuses to post inappropriate content. Doesn’t sell inappropriate content to media. Is informative, interesting, polite, articulate, friendly, appreciative of all the hard work, doesn’t follow guards around or closely, doesn’t just stand for ages in front of eg one horse for hours, hoping that something will go wrong. Isn’t doing it to make money. Doesn’t use multiple cameras on too long, heavy, poles that might fall on someone. There are now far too many people standing for hours, hoping for controversial, content. Some, deliberately project a bad image of what happens there and they use ‘ shock’ descriptions to get views and money. That has recently hit the news globally. Thousands of people across the world are enjoying John’s relaxing, amusing, well- mannered, varied, videos. The videos are a huge, contrast to some others, which involve hanging about, waiting for something that will give them trashy headlines. A very good move several days ago - a new sign, “ Don’t touch the horses”. Tourists can still get great pics of themselves standing at a sensible distance. Seven hands of seven different people, on a horse’s face, was sad to see, as was the habit some visitors had of shoving their babies very close to horses, including almost into the horses’ mouths. The rein grabbing was also, dangerous. As many people said, that was like grabbing the wheel of a car. If people making videos every day don’t appreciate that they’re filming working soldiers, plus wonderful horses, a fantastic site with a rich history, perhaps they should be licensed…or in some cases not, licensed. Lastly, security, is obviously vital. Deliberately filming off duty soldiers, or recently ex soldiers, when they’ve specifically asked to not be filmed, should get anyone who does that, banned. Some weeks back, a soldier who’d recently left the job, was chatting to John, who as usual, didn’t film him, at all. Both of them, took no risks. Someone else did…and uploaded it. Absolutely irresponsible, to follow the two men having a brief, quiet chat and film them. I don’t know John of London City Walks personally but I admire his attitude, common sense and respectful behaviour. I think those traits are an asset to the place. There are a few others too, who don’t seem as controvery based as some others. Many thanks, to everyone who works very hard, at Horseguards. They deserve respect.

@@cathynewyork7918 The utuber London City Walks was approached by buska and said a few things, it is audio recording as London didn't put the other utuber on camera .According to buska they banned him and he can not enter horse guards, London City Walks had told him not to post or sell his footage of the soldier who was off duty at the time. But he did it anyway. consequently, he's banned, I have also seen the police officers approach other utubers who are there filming not to follow the guards while they are doing the walks to and from the tunnel and back to the arches some of them are doing what appears to be stalking them and intimidating them that they are getting to close to their personal space. They are also blocking their path. The utubers that have three cameras on their sticks/poles are the ones that the police officers were talking to. London City Walks only uses one camera and one selfie stick ,so they have not warned him, also he doesn't film them when he talks to the officers or the troopers, that's how he gets more information about the horses like their names and personality traits, like Ormond and Arnie the nippers/biters of the public when they get to close or touch them. The new rules about not touching the troopers or the horses should help them out with that. The troopers seem to be back to shouting at the public again which is a good thing when they break the rules.

I do think a hard-wearing permanent or retractable canopy over the front arches is absolutely doable. I realise these things may not happen overnight due to logistics, red-tape admin (listed building regulations etc) and of course - money, but the World is only getting hotter and we (or more specifically, the MoD) have a duty of care to our serving Soldiers, mounted or otherwise as well as their working animals too.

@@fang_ukI was just thinking that yesterday, how a canopy over the boxes out front would benefit the horses tremendously by providing shade. I watch from Florida and shade and keeping cool is a routine part of life year round here so my thoughts naturally turn to how unbearably hot the troopers must be in their uniforms and the dark coloring for the horses. I’ve even pondered ceiling fans or wall mounted fans in the boxes too. They make some pretty nice outdoor fans that would fit inside and not impede the cameras. Idk, it’s a thought.
