Team spoiler!! This GT is a sexy beast!! Dark grey with black interior, fixed spoiler, and carbon ceramic brakes. Also as with all my cars I'd debadge the rear and side decals for a cleaner look. As for the seats the standard leather seats are better because alcantara looks like crap after it starts wearing. Alcantara should only be used on headliners and dashboards everywhere else it is not a good idea.
Yes but like most car reviewers, they were probably taken to the location by first class, fed, watered and generally pampered by Mercedes. Any harsh criticism of the car would mean no more invites in future.
And the reviews are technical! He is not talking BS like the top-gear clowns or spending the half of the video speaking about the sound and smiling... 👏
@@autogefuehl Being the same height as you, Do you find it more or less confortable to drive than the new 911? I know the Porsche would be a dream to manoeuvre in a city but I don't wish to drive with knee and neck cramps . . .
Nice car. I prefer it without the fixed spoiler, but I still prefer the 911 by some margin. Mercedes dash areas are like being inside an iPad these days. It looks expensively cheap, if that makes any sense...
I've always likened these iPad screens to someone wearing an expensive suit, but with a cheap digital watch. It's just not an elegant solution but otherwise the car is fantastic, IMO
Also Porsche just released they're next generation interior for the new Panamera and it's leagues ahead. You can tell they take the time to develop and refine the ergonomics and aesthetics in a way Mercedes just cant beat , the fact that you have to reach behind the screen to start the car is all you need to know.
The absolute cope here is insanely ifc the charts. Expensively cheap my ass... You porche guys, I swear. You can't even compare the quality of any of the displays. Some cheap as 16-30hz lcd being used in the Porshes like most manufacturers, just slightly higher quality than those ones who use the plastic displays. And the extensive detail put into both the hardware and software elements. Who comes close? (Only Bmw finally moved on from the low effort & quite dim all black background, unlike Audi and Porsche.) The steering wheel and it's functionality? The speaker assembly and details of the metal engravings? The Naca Duct element which has been preserved? More luxurious seats for those who like that stuff?

This is by far the greatest review style ever as it includes a pov and a look at the reviewer as he comments, why do these other review channels think I want to look at them 90% of the time when a pov could actually convince me in first person perspective experience how it's like to drive the car? I love CF. So, I'm Team Spoiler. Also, I would get the sports seats with the Alcantara. But, it would be nice if MB offered the comfort seats in Alcantara.
The design of this one looks amazingly good. I would take it in blue, but not frozen - it's a nightmare to keep looking good. Interior looks like a nice place to sit, except for 2 things: 1- #capacitiveBS; stop, just stop. 2- piano black surfaces; I don't know wjy car manufacturers keep offering this as a "premium" surface finish, instead of something like aluminium, carbon fiber of a nice wood finish. Piano black is a fingerprint magnet and scratches too easily Too bad they don't offer this kind of coupe with gorgeous looks, but a more reasonable (read affordable) engine.
Excellent review as always Thomas....could you talk with Mercedes and suggest an optional dash with integrated infotainment systems instead of these awful "ipad"screens ruining the interior styling please..?
yup,that manual makes you feel like a man when you get passed by the automatic counterparts. That's why i love Dacia,true to it's heritage roots,manual and wind up windows
2:18 personally I wouldn't say a car has fake exhausts once actual exhaust gas is emitted through the tips, like on this AMG GT. Nothing is wrong with using more decorative tips. The problem exists when decorative tips are visible but they are completed blocked off and the actual exhaust gas is emitted somewhere else.
Very beautiful! If I had the money I think I would pick the 911 for it's styling and interior as it fits my taste better, but I wouldn't be sad to drive this one either!
The new Mercedes AMG GT is a beast, beautifully designed too. Mercedes please also give us the AMG GT53, with that lovely 3.0 Inline 6 you manufacture, its full of character, sounds great and it would be lighter upfront too.
Another lovely review for this masterpiece . This car not only outplayed Porsche's 911 but also the SL . With a very similar price tag any keen driver would choose this over the SL .
But the big question is, "Which would Leah prefer?" I think the combo of the awd v-8 with biturbo makes it a wonderful evolution of the earlier AMGs. Watch out Herr Porsche! 😊
The sound only entices me more than the 911, everything else? Nope, Mercedes doesn’t know what they are doing especially with the 4 cylinder AMG C63 and it proves so
I guess your launch and laughter gives an indication how this monster speeds 0 to 60. I am considering this as I cannot get a 911 because dealerships here in the US are playing hard to get.
Great review, this Mercedes looks and sounds amazing, but i thing the 911 is more special the boxster engine is a master piece of engineering and the design is very iconic, it has more pedigree. It would be wonderful if you can make a review of the new Aston Martin DB12.
Of course, I will pick this new AMG-GT 63 over 911 Turbo S. The look is much better inside out than 911. The most important part is the AMG's V8 sound, that no other car brands can compare. Wonderful job Mercedes!
Great review! Weird that they pump in that weird digital sounding engine noise when it’s already the 4.0 V8. Guess it maintains all the sound deadening of the SL that it’s based on
I personally prefer for automakers to embed the screens within the dash. I think this makes it easier for the infotainment systems to be able to modernize himself with time. If you look at this tablet, how is it going to look in 5 years?

Another superb review and I suppose for most people owning a car in this segment, is a dream come true. No doubt the Mercedes is an excellent car, however when it has to compete against the 911, DB12, Roma, Continental etc, then I think it struggles. By the way if anyone wants to send me keys to any of them, I'd be over the moon 😂😂.

Thomas, your opinion and drive commentary was probably great as usual, unfortunately I could not discern all that you were saying due to the load acoustics in the car. Was the road and engine noise really that intrusive?
I would definitively consider that a base 911 racked up with options (around 135k/140k) is still 50k less expensive than the floor price of this car. Yes it is 8 cylinder and more powerful but come on, on open road so much power? Meh. Would you race that? Erm even if you are rich enough to consider the car. Probably not.
Did you really just use the “thats more power than you would need anyway” argument. We’re talking about super cars there’s no such thing as “this has to much power”
Some of us are shopping for high end coupe. It’s also of matter of performance is at some point not usable on the road. I had a boxster gts in the past, I record it was reaching high rpm (6k+ rpm) at 110+ km/h so this means that you had to take open road curves in 1st gear if you wanted some nice noise while keeping close to legal speed. It was utter annoying to risk licence each time you want to hear the engine thing or to drive in 1st 😅 So then was it too much performance to open road? In my opinion I don’t miss much with a boxster s. I could even say I prefer a z4 because of the shorter gears 😂. I do the amalgam between amg Gt and one of the best high end coupe which is extremely good to drive on open road already in the base version.
