This is not Mariah. The girls were on Mariah's label and she mentored them and was responsible for all of the vocal arrangements so obviously it sounds a lot like her style as Mariah got the final say. What you hear is mainly Linnie Belcher with Lalisha McLean on the higher soprano parts. Same thing with "All Cried Out" and "Last Chance". They do a great job at emulating Mariah though and I can see why people think it's Mariah. If you listen to the stems of "Babydoll" you'll find that it's Trey on most of the chorus vocals, emulating Mariah's whispery tone (They used to blend sooo well by the way), and if you listen closely to "Petals" you'll find that Cindy Mizelle is doing the high octave dub of Mariah's leadvocal. Just because it sounds like Mariah doesn't always mean it actually is Mariah. EDIT: Sorry, I meant Nicki Richards not Cindy Mizelle.
i definitely think Mariah might have harmonized with them on some parts on "Head Over Heels" and (maybe) on "all cried out" as well. Maybe they blended a demo she recorded with their vocals or maybe she wasn't on it at all, lol! We don't have the facts, unfortunately. We can only speculate. I don't hear it as much on "last chance", but they do sound a lot like her, it's crazy. I Just hear Mariah on some parts, not the whole time, maybe my head is messing with me lol.
Mariah is not credited on backing vocals. Not on the album and not on the singles. She is credited as a producer, songwriter and for vocal arrangement.
@@jakeyjakes_ speaking of the part in the background that starts at :19 ...the melody she uses when she hold outs out "heels" the beginning of the run sounds like the "I " run from " I had a crush on you" in 'Want you" the the second part of the run sounds like the word "like" in loverboy when she says "knows what I LIKE" 😁😁😁
Of course she’d sing background vocals I mean she did write this song and produced it, you can hear her clearly even when you listen to the normal version
Lichy Guevara it’s 1997 because that’s the girl group Allure that was signed to her label Crave Records . She sung background vocals on a few of their songs .
WorkTogether ToSaveTomorrow I know I’m late, but yeah, if you listen to their album their literally like mini Mariah’s. I know she trained them vocally. One member, my favorite one, her name is Linnie and her tone on certain notes sound like Mariah and she can do the whispery tone and sound like Mariah.
it was an acapella i bought on itunes especially for this video, when you filter acapella's it usually sounds very crisp bc it's just lead and bg vocals
