How many times did Poki yell in this video Thank you to Sakuraco, use Code “RNJ” to get $5 off for your first box here: team.sakura.co/racheljunadventures-SC2301 . Valentine's Bliss box available until Feb 15th! Somehow with every project I end up wanting to give up about halfway through, but I'm always glad I stuck them through! I'ma say that's about 95% thanks to you guys, because if I wasn't making videos about them I probably wouldn't have the motivation to finish, haha. Unexpected youtube benefits?? It feels sooooo nice to have our exercise room all cleaned out and set up nicely, and we've found that we really like the new spot for the cat tower these past few days! Would love suggestions for a custom cat tower design to put in our exercise room window, or tips on how to prevent thin mirrors from turning into carnival funhouse mirrors 😭
It's annoying cat week. There're just some days where all the cat boys go crazy and are extra annoying and energetic. I already fixed my carpet 8 times today, makes too much fun to kick it under the couch when running up the stairs in hyper speed mode
Poki yelled atleast 23-25 times 😌😂😂 I tried counting it and got side tracked a bit when Rachel showed her video of the moment's before the disaster started 😂
My mom does TONS of home DIY stuff, so I made her watch just the RANTING section with no context. She just stood there the whole time aggressively nodding and commiserating with you, so at least you're not alone 😂😭
No one in my family growing up did any DIY, so seeing stuff like this is so reassuring to me. Similarly, a friend told me how her dad never builds anything without multiple trips to the hardware store, and it made me so relieved, I felt like I was just being disorganized haha.
Pichi cuddles at the end were so cute!!! I've seen furniture restoration channels use mineral spirits (an organic solvent) or even a cloth dampened with water to check how wood can look before staining and sealing them. You wipe a little bit on the wood and it will simulate how it looks after staining and lets you check if you've sanded everything correctly or if marks are still there. Just make sure you let it completely evaporate first before sealing.
You can clean off and reuse all those sanding pads with a tiny bit of acetone (or just nail polish remover). The grit isn't used up, it just needs the goop cleaned off.
Poki screaming non-stop is irresistible! He is a force to be reckoned with! Plus, somehow you both (and the great support acts) make the snacks reviews really interesting too
i really like that you guys are just acknowledging that jun folding his clothes is probably something that is not going to change and are choosing to work around the issue rather than keep trying to make it work. it’s refreshing.
Hi Rachel. Great job on mirror wall. To do without distortion you would need to buy a slab of mirror from a glazier then have it cut in squares. Individual pieces bought separately will come from different mirrors and won't have the same refraction, hence the "wavy" distortion. Just FYI. Another way to do a mirror wall, which is a method I used (in my old house) is to have slab mirror installed and overlay your decorative strips with a mirror with a glass adhesive. Works beautifully! Good luck!
I was looking for comments about this and couldn't find any, so I just need to say that Jun keeping his head still for Rachel to put the tape on is so wholesome and sweet
For the mirror wall, one thing you could potentially do in the future (which would require the pain and suffering of starting from scratch, is to get a sheet of wood at the full size you need (hopefully able to get it into the room). Then you sand it to an extreme level of uniform smoothness. And apply mirror film to it, sort of like how some gyms are able to do those absolutely massive mirrors they have. Then you put the lattice-work over that. Though I have to say I've only seen it done at half the scale you're trying to accomplish. Additionally if you decide to try it one day, You'll want to make sure the roll(s) of mirror film are at least as wide as each square or getting it lined up properly becomes suffering. Lastly, it's speculation on my part, but I wonder if applying a veneer to the surface of the wood, or multiple pieces of wood would perhaps speed the process up and remove or reduce the need for sanding. I might try that in a few weeks. I have a wall I need to do something with.
It looks amazing, like a very stylish custom design. You've opened up the room, given it even more natural lighting, and shown how incredible your diy skills are
The distortion comes from the quality of the mirrors. Small mirror don’t need to be as high of quality because of the scale they are used at but using a bunch of cheap mirrors together makes their quality obvious.
Endlich wieder mehr Videos von euch. Junes Kitchen geht ab, unsere Katzen dürfen jetzt auch immer alles riechen was wir Menschen essen. 最後にあなたからのより多くのビデオ。 ジュネスキッチンは順調に進んでおり、私たちの猫は人間が食べるものすべてを嗅ぐことができるようになりました. Finally more videos from you. Junes Kitchen is going great, our cats are now allowed to smell everything we humans eat
lol I just made this mirror so I feel you! I found the measuring really hard and didn't realize the mirrors were slightly different sizes, so one of them was really tight. I had to hammer it gently in! Sadly we had the fun house thing happen and my butt looks huge when I use it as a mirror, so it is just a decoration now.
Rachel being a perfectionist can be a hazard at times. For the record the Mirror wall is a really cool idea although a bit more engaging too make than a How To video will tell you.
Rachel the mirrors are probably distorting because the center is unsupported. if you put spacers or tape across the middle it might fix it. not 100% sure but its worth a try
That mirror wall is gorgeous👍👍 but you have to be careful though. There have been cases here where the mirror started to fall down and the debris caused injuries. It happened due to lacked of/unsuitable glue used.
Oh gosh Rachel! Ive worked a little bit with sanding a table that was already stained and ran into the exact same problem ugh. And the temptation to try to make something even better, but then it just makes everything 10x worse 😭 DIY is NOT easy. Epecially because you need expertise in every field and it just ends up making every project so much harder than it needed to be haha
Your DIYs are my absolute favorite! I've done a few DIY projects before to customize furniture and I can't wait to move out of my tiny apartment so that I can do more. Your channel inspires me and helps remind me that with research and time you can do some really cool and fulfilling things with your free time that make your living space feel like home.
Hi Rachel and Jun! I am getting married in a week and got my fiance a sakuraco subscription as a gift for Valentines day/our wedding! Thank you for showing Sakuraco. Your uploads make my day and I love your content so much! ❤️
Be careful with mirrors that are in range of the sun. I’ve heard of several house fires starting from sunlight shinning into mirrors in the home. Love the mirror though! 😊
This came it beautiful, I know the warp is weird but it’s a given when using multiple mirrors, I don’t think it’s avoidable, don’t be hard on yourself you did great! ✨💕
Beautiful! Sorry the mirrors warped, but I still think it looks cool! Maybe if you attached them to sturdy metal or wood square first, like to make them thicker so they don't bend as easily? Anyway, I loved the project and loved the subscription box and love you two and the cats, as always!
I have kids and a cockatoo. The short answer is yes, at some point you just stop noticing. I've had people be like "YOUR BIRD IS SCREAMING!"" and I'm like "oh...yeah, I guess she is."
"What's distorted is my eyesight." Same Rachel, same. 😅 How to spot cuts for editing in the videos: listen for the interrupted Poki meow. And Pichi on your lap 😍 Oh, I need those penguin pajamas. Where can I get it? 🐧
My cat loves the window hammocks you can buy that just suction on to the window. Could you maybe use those instead of a tower and just staircase them up the window?
I'm just guessing here but maybe because the tape for the mirrors raises the edges off of the wood backing that's what's causing them to warp? This might be fixed by placing some kind of material that's the same thickness of the tape in the center so that there's no longer a gap between the mirrors and the wood. Unfortunately that requires pulling the mirrors off first and that sounds like a pain
I felt for you so much when you broke down on the stupid resending. Happens to me all the time with my sewing projects, and I want the problem to be gone right away and then I don't take a step back and go crazy and I don't solve it well, and I have to call it a day anyway and work twice the time :(
To answer your question to parents about loud children and tuning them out, simply yes. Every parents' Spidey senses start tingling when the noises stop and it gets quiet...
I'm sorry, but your so cute carrying that cat castle around with the kitty. ❤️ Plus I started watching this channel because poki looks like my kitty Max.
You should have used a much finer grit sand paper, also, silicone would have worked faster and a lot cheaper than that double sided tape while working just as well.
Can confirm as I am the child that gets tuned out. Doesn't work well for my mom when she just tells me yes and then turns around and is like "what are you doing?!"
I'm sorry Rachel, but this video is comedy gold 🤣🥇, you were ranting your head off and I was laughing my head off 🤣 🤣 🤣. girl I KNOW where that frustration is coming from knowing that I've had my fair share of rant-o-palooza hence my 🤣 🤣 🤣🤣 🤣 btw your mirror project is gorgeous 😘👌. if you notice the reflection being distorted, thats usually the quality of the mirror, not the frame you spent so much effort in. if you want to fix the distortion, get another set of mirrors, usually those types are a bit thicker / heavier but together they don't distort. or get clear beveled glass and stick those on top of the existing mirror there, that will force the eyes and brain to accommodate the beveled layer being naturally uneven, hence the distortion not being noticed anymore. good luck with that 🤞🍀. also the way you managed to reuse that cat tower by simply repositioning it and looking like it was made for the cat ledges you built into your home is nothing short of brilliant and fated ☯👏 👏 👏.
As someone whose children are now grown, I can 100% confirm that one does learn to tune out child noises. In fact, silence can be a warning sign: "why are they so quiet? What are they up to?"
My husband never folds his pants, hangs his shirts or puts his clothes in the closet. He puts them next to the closet in a pile and it just builds and builds until I shove them in his closet for him.
