Hi Gary I live in Sydney Now have been for 16 yrs...it's great to see winters like that...I remember 1981 was the last time it snowed like that...I used to do a paper round around bonhay road...takes me back. Great vid...... Lee
It's nice to know that retired milkfloats are still coming in useful elsewhere! I was in the spare van that day, my usual one was off the road for repairs.
@19beavers Hi, thanks, those bottles were freezing cold for about 6 months this winter, it was a real luxury when you picked up one that had only just been put out and was still nice and warm. Gary
@whiteknightmovies Hi. Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. There no problems with freshness that day. Did you see my other video called 'The River Exe frozen.....'? It was recorded on an even colder morning, you will see that all the milk had frozen solid. Gary
Great Video it really took me back to when I worked for Unigate - 9 years on retail and 13 years on the wholesale. I took the redundancy when they got taken over again. Biy were those bottles cold !!!
@johnrussellpatrick Hi, yep, these modern HDD cams are fantastic. No tapes/DVDs required just plug it into your PC and take it off in seconds. I was holding the cam in my hand at all times when recording this vid. Gary
@garylq Hey I am the postie for West Garth Road!! How did you manage to drive your milk float up there? The H bus got stuck at the junction with Ridgeway!!
Out milkman crawls up our steep road at 2 am to deliver, but as it's a dead end, he rolls backwards down the hill faster than the float can be powered by it's motor!
The snow in Scotland can arrive as late as June or as early as September, we can get 3 feet or more frequently, please don't think the UK consists of southern England, as they (To us that is) are a whole different world completely !
