At the age of 14 I helped out on a milk round - 1982. Started at 4.30 and watching the sun come up on a frosty morning is beautiful.

I remember in the school holidays, I used to 'help' the milkman with his deliveries....just in the immediate area. Dropping milk off, fancy orange juice (it was in the early 70s) and yogurts all from the local dairy in the village (Healds) I even sat up front or hopped on the back of the float, something you wouldn't be able to do now.

Back in 1950's my dad was a milkman and drove a milk float like this. I used to go with him on Sunday to help him out (4.30am starts) and by the time I was 8 in about 1960 I used to drive it a bit whenever I could.

I was a Unigate milkman from 1969 to 1977, best job i ever had, started my round at 6am in the morning, last pint delivered by 10am, worked six weeks straight then one week off. The milkman in the film is not typical, for a start no one in my dairy would be wearing a peaked cap, if they did wear anything it would be something like a wooly hat, the other obvious inaccuracy is that he wouldn't be walking, but slow running or he would never get the round finished. But for all that it was nice to revisit warm memories.

John Polo That is due to Labour (in the 1990’s / 2000’s) directing councils to limit the number of parking places allocated to each house to a level well below what would be reasonable bearing in mind most teenagers living at home also have cars. The roads of every post 1990’s housing estate are therefore littered with cars...

We were told that in 1994 when the milk marketing board was scrapped it would lead to fairer prices for consumers. Nonsense. Retail prices have constantly risen with inflation, while the price paid to farmers has hardly increased, and on many occasions has fallen. Two thirds of dairy farmers have quit milk production since 1994. Consumers and the remaining dairy farmers are now being ripped off by the few big milk processors in between, that make huge profits. All of this for a staple food. Ridiculous.

Aah, back to a much simpler time, a time when there much less cars on the roads polluting up the air. A time when you could sit down in the evening with 3 channels of pure entertainment, and happy "Feel Good" music filling our air waves. You can keep this 21st Century with all its technology, and rubbish tv ruined by the PC brigade. OK, so we had dodgy haircuts, and silly clothes, strikes, and the odd power cut, but if anyone invents a time machine. Then here I come back to the 20th Century, and I would be a happy chappy.

I loved those days.... I remember a TV advert that went something like "...don't forget that your milkman does not only sell milk..." -- so true. He sold potatoes, cream, cheese.... .. and the milk in those bottles was so fresh. It was gold top for us although most people bought the tastless silver and red tops. Remember all that ? Having lived in several other parts of the world... I SIMPLY ADORE ENGLAND !!!!!! Seriously no other place like it !

I grew up in the 70s and although I loved my country and felt it was a great time to be alive, I always felt there was something lacking in our culture. I realised as a child that we needed Sharia Law and the only way for our country to become whole and complete was for successive governments to allow mass immigration so we could have millions of muslims living in Britain. I cannot tell you how happy I am in 2020 to see my childhood dream realised.

@stephen noonan It's not "bullocks" (i'm assuming you meant "bollocks"). It's Scientific fact. A mother produces milk for its children because it helps them develop and grow. Each different animal's milk is the milk made specifically for that animal. Not a single doctor in the world would recommend giving cow's milk to a baby over breast milk. There are absolutely 0 health benefits or reason for human adults to be nursing off cows. ADULTS DON'T NEED MILK.
