Featuring 32 works from the Stanley Museum of Art’s collection of ledger drawings, a Plains Indian form of artistic expression, “Drawn Over” invests in a community that has been historically underrepresented in museum spaces.
Iowa has been home to Native American tribes for thousands of years. The Stanley Museum of Art recognizes its responsibility to uphold the heritage of the indigenous community and to acknowledge their important contributions.
This exhibition, which will run through Native American Heritage Month, serves as an essential resource of discovery and learning and will provide museum-goers with an insight into the rich and diverse cultures, traditions and histories of the indigenous community.
