Tiny cute guy in white pants & shirt is Chen you talked about his vocals technically he is consider one of the best male idol vocalists in Korea . His lower register is amazing. I appreciate that you told some parts of his are really hard. As you said they can do pop rock too, regarding chen's monster high note,fun fact is many said his voice really suit rock,he has sung few rock songs. His soloalbums mostly has pop & ballad few rnb but he will release his first japanese album in aug 17th it has rock songs too. He has other collabs singles with many different genres . I think as a vocal coach you ll enjoy his vocals .

MAMA is EXO's debut song in 2012. You can check it out, I guarantee. Their rookie voices there are magnificent as well. You won't be disappointed.

the way you pointed out the "new age fast vocal training" is so true. even fans of non-sm artists contemplate at times that their vocalists would've achieved greater things (like exploring their own vocal styles or deepening their techniques) had they trained under sm. exo do, shinee onew, and nct jaehyun are my favorites from this company

Love this reaction! As mentioned, Chanyeol and Sehun formed their self-producing subunit EXO-SC. Ironically, they mostly sing, a smaller focus on their rapping. Personal favorites are Closer to You, Borderline, Jet Lag, Rodeo Station, Telephone, and Rollercoaster.

The two rappers on both ends, are Chanyeol and the Maknae Sehun. They have a subunit called EXO SC. They are a WHOLE chill vibe with two no skip albums

Chen had a solo on their first tour called "Uprising" and it was a rock song. He absolutely killed it of course.

Fun fact: when EXO doesn’t have a group project, they go to highly recommended vocalist at that time to have a private voice lessons paid by themselves. So they were not just trained by SM company but by different voice coaches as well so they are familiar with different techniques.

for chanyeol, he mostly raps in his solos but if you wanna see his singing i recommend 'yours' and his 'without u' cover or 'break your box' ost. also his live covers are rlllly good. my fav ones are 'the wind of change' from music bank in berlin, 'all of me' and 'creep'

For Chanyeol (the rapper you made an exception for), I recommend going over to his StudioNNG channel as well as listen to his SM Station songs “Tomorrow” and SSFW (in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese). Collabs with other artists include the top drama OST “Stay With Me”, “Yours”, and “Freal Love”. He once performed with Chen for a show covering a song called “If We Love Again”. He said he was nervous singing on TV with Chen but it’s one of my all-time faves. I recommend watching the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremony performance for “Power” mostly because I feel like that’s what the song is really for- as an anthem. Fun fact: “The First Snow” comes up on the Korean music charts on, you guessed it, the first snow in Korea every year since it was released 😂

I just love how all of them are leaning into their mics and then there's Chen, a good foot away, bc he _knows_ how well he projects. Thank you! Your comments are so on point and nice. I’m sure many people have already given their suggestions regarding Chanyeol’s solo. So I would like to just share my love for him and my favourite stuff of his. He is my all-time favourite k-pop musician. And im very confident in this statement. I do know wonderful vocalists (well most of them are exo), However Chanyeol stands out for me a lot. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Chanyeol has many songs and covers where he shines the most that aren’t official releases. Rather, it’s his soundcloud , insta live or personal RU-vid updates, or even occasional covers on variety shows. He’s done a lot of great covers (including All of Me by John Legend and my childhood favourite- Scorpions’ Wind of Change at their concerts). He’s such a well-rounded musician in terms of genre, so genuine, sincere and curious with music. And, what came to me as a total shock and sent my awe to a whole another lever was his movie - The Box. Mind you, I haven’t seen the full picture, only went through the OST album. I can’t say it’s revolutionary great, but it’s THERE, and it’s GOOD. OH MY GOD how many different songs he manages to tackle there. From Korean trot to billie’s Bad Guy, Coldplay’s Sky full of stars, etc etc. AND, most of all, “my funny valentine”. My personal favourite jazz standard of all times. I’m fully biased and I admit that wholeheartedly. I get amazed every time because he manages to perform my favourite songs from any genre, any timeframe. Or we both are just equally basic lmao. after all, we both independently got almost identical tattoos in the same place on our fingers. Yes, I agree. Dingo uses post production on all performances and it sounds too perfect. The only dingo performance that does not bother me with post production are EXO, MAMAMOO, BTOB because I know these groups slay raw vocals.

People tend to say Chanyeol and Sehun are bad rappers but it's Not true, and it might be because of what you said about the dynamics/pitch changes. If they rap like, Taeyong from NCT for example, their rap wouldn't really fit with EXOs' music and vocals. There's an Actual reason why they rap the way they do and why they were trained that way. ❤ Exo have that rnb and soul.

23:57 when Chen's solo was announced, a lot of people though he was gonna drop some rock inspired album, a few years ago he released a solo ( in concert only) called Uprising, which has a little bit of jrock influence. Anyway, we still got some gorgeous ballads out of it, but I still pray for a rock album under his name .

I thought the same listening to them, even in their new album they still have a unique style, I left kpop aside just for that reason, everything is very monotonous and EXO still has that old school style that characterizes them. The advantage with EXO is that they have different vocal textures that together they sounded amazing esp with the layers. With new groups today they seem to stay close to their genre that's why they kind of sounded similar. EXO's old school training gave them confidence to try varieties of music. That’s what I love about their solos. You really get to hear them sing in the songs that for their voices so well. Like Baekhyun 3rd Mini Album Bambi is one of my favorites. All I got and Cry for Me are top tier. EXO only knows how to make bops. MAMA is EXO’s debut song and I’ve heard it describes as rock operana* spelling on that lol and it’s amazing that they sang that well at debut.

People need to start putting some respect on D.O.'s name as a main vocalist. A lot of people always mention Baekhyun and Chen being the main vocalists but forgetting D.O. a lot of times even tho D.O. has the best vocal agility and tone of all 3.

I love how you also focus on the Rap line even though most vocal coaches tend to ignore rap, and how you appreciate all voices without being biased. Most vocal coaches just only focus on the most strong vocals and use the not so strong voices to make the stronger ones shine even more. I always enjoy your pure and charismatic reactions.

Chanyeol’s voice is amazing! He can rap and sing really well. He doesn’t have a solo album yet as he is still writing/preparing for it. But yes if you can check their winter albums you will more of his singing voice. Also Chanyeol and Sehun the other rapper of the group has a sub unit which is called SC. They have release 2 albums so far. You may check that out too.

Chanyeol is very versatile on a vocal level, the OST of Stay with me is a song that boosted his career to sing solo or perform duets, all the songs are unique, just as he plays instruments such as the piano, guitar and is a DJ

The little "ohh" at the end of Don't Go isn't an improvisation, that's just the next note. I think he forgot where they were cutting it off!

I highly recommend Baekhyun Album “Bambi” together with “All i got” and “Cry for love”. EXO

You'll love D.O.'s tone quality as an R&B singer, and how much of a smart singer he is (and why he's my bias) + Chanyeol's totally slaying us with his super comfortable guitar skills. If you want more of Chanyeol's vocals, you can also check out his Creep by Radiohead (spontaneous cover) live in JYP Party. As a main rapper, he's also strong in singing live (got a lot of favorite riffs executions from him), and he's great at playing multiple instruments, since his childhood. + The song that you mentioned that you ain't familiar with is "MAMA" which is their debut song, back when they were 12 membered group. I love it's bridge where we hear Kai's scream voice.

The boy you say you love is called Chanyeol, he is a total multifaceted, he raps, sings, plays several instruments including the guitar and the piano and has composed several exo and exo-sc songs (heaven and with me two of the most famous ). He doesn't have a solo album (yet) but he has several covers and solos like the entire ost from the movie "the box" songs like Nothin, Tomorrow, Stay with me (ost by goblin) and go away (ost by romantic doctor) also a participation in freal luv with marshmellow and tinashe, and his most famous covers are creep by radiohead, all of me by John legend and wind of change by scorpions😊 his vocal range is baritone and he has been in music since very young.
