The Tominator on the drums. Untouchable...both man and machine. He pioneered Thrash Drumming...and he still blows modern drummers away at 55+ years old
Dukes is my favorite frontman ever. That guy was 150% every show and could make anyone get in the pit. He should be compared to the greats like Dickinson and Hlaford. He was that good.
I was at this concert..I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I turned 50 in decmeber last year and my ears are still ringing from that concert. \m/
The monster of a frontman is gone.. I really miss that friggin' power and aggression that Dukes brought to the band :( Dukes was the most powerful and aggressive frontman that Exodus was ever blessed to work with and getting rid of Dukes was the biggest mistake that they ever did...:(
Paradise Pythons Totally agree. EXODUS is playing next Sunday very near to my home. If Rob were still their frontman I would definitely go to see them alive. But with Zetro - i'm still not sure if I really want to attend it. Don't want to offend Zetro, but he is mediocre comparing to Rob and push me off this band.
I saw them in Melbourne and then later in Perth, it was worth the money just for the guitar tech to hit a chord in soundcheck, absolutely crushing guitar tone. And they fucking slayed. If I were you I would go dude, they put on a first class show.
Paradise Pythons Thanks for advice. I think you've just convinced me, I'm going to see them first time alive. It's not the same without Rob and Gary, undeniably, but it's still fkn EXODUS after all.
Most extreme metal band in the early days of thrash in Bay Area. Still brutal nowadays so yu can imagine how it sounds in middle 80's . Everybody wanting to get technical and show some class but Exodus led the brutality to another level.
Also need to check out Lamb of God 2007 at download. That set and this one here are very similar.. young bands, still raging & sound absolutely incredible for how old they are. Randy & Dukes both had their defining shows.
I HAD to comment on this again! I am a die - hard Exodus fan, and Exhibit A is one of their absolute best. Metallica doesn’t belong in the same sentence as the ORIGINAL thrash kings! Rob goes right back to the Paul Ballof screamer years, only angrier and backed by heavier guitars and drums. Fuck yeah!!!!
It brings a smile to my face, years after Zetro's oh so desired and expected return to exodus, to see the fans of the band going "Fuck... they were more solid and powerful with Rob..."
dkyelak And Kreator, and Megadeth. But Exodus is the best thrash metal band. Why Anthrax is still in big 4 is beyond stupidity....Just this song kills their whole discography.
Tom Hunting...The best thrash metal drummer of all time...hands down. End of discussion. No one can even touch him....and even if they could...they fact is that he was there when it all started and set the pace for the whole genre....and hes still going...hes like the Energizer bunny from hell.
I just want to break stuff! What a band! Lee Altus, and Gary Holt are Thrash. Best live performance I have seen. Next Wacken, move them up the line-up to play at night!
Writing things like "Tom should play for Metallica" is an insult for this great drummer! Lars can't even lick his feet with his "skill" and Metallica has songs that would be boring to play for Tom in comparison with Exodus' songs. This is just a fucking fact! Don't compare overrated "thrash" band which is Metallica with one of the most underrated THRASH metal band - Exodus!
Tom Hunting ...the best. Period. You ask Dave Lombardo, Lars Ulrich or Charlie Benante who the master of thrash is on the drums...and they will point right to Tom Hunting and say "Theres your man". Jut listen to everything He did from Bonded by Blood onwards. Note for note, beat for beat...he is the man. Hes the pioneer.
