"CastleRoid BlakenStone" sounds like the worst possible combination of urinary tract infections and vascular inflammation. Like the kind of thing that is technically not fatal, but makes you wish it was.
When I was playing this there was the question of how the game was going to handle progression, because in Metroidvanias you usually get at least one mobility tool and... well, the game's a pure 2D environment with minimal input buttons. So the teleporter was a neat surprise to me.
I can confirm incision is good stuff. Revolver double spin. That aside I thought this video was a boomshoot in terms of "It's old". I've never heard of this game but after looking at the crisp sprites and such was confused so I did a search. Boys, we got another boomshoot. Thanks for this Civvie.
i love how these days indie devs dont need big marketing budgets to get the word out just good content creators!. look at concord, all the money in the world and it flops HARD. keep it up civvie just bought the game.
@@LordOfCrabz imo, games like Serious Sam and Painkiller are more classifiable as "Arena Shooters" rather than "Boomer Shooters" I can see the appeal of arena shooters, but I can also see why some would just consider them tedious or exhausting lol
It's going to be a prequel where you play as the Scientist and do all the litany of horrific, villainous shit mentioned in the Ship Logs before blasting off into space to escape the angry alien army on your tail
I am about like a third through this video and i have seen videos and pictures of this game before and i always just thought it was just another modern Wolfenstein clone but in space but this is way more complex and interesting than i originally gave it credit for. So congrats Civvie, you're officially responsible for at least one extra purchase of this game

This is a great Castleroid Blakenstone game, it reminds me a lot of the Castlevania mod for Doom, i was expecting to find a grapplehook skill at any time but... Wait, what did u say at end?
I'm so happy for the INCISION mention at the beginning of the video. It's become my favorite so far due to just how punishing and grotesque it is, and the highest difficulty feels justifiably hard. Can't wait.
Another Civvie video to brighten my day. I remember first finding you I think from the very first Doom video you did, I don't even think you had 50,000 subs yet (can't remember for sure) and at the time I remember thinking " that's crazy, this guy deserves waaay more subs than that" And now you're getting close to 500,000!
I'd say this game is less Metroidvania and more Megalovania since the game looks like it took its major inspiration from MegaMan Deathmatch. "At least it looks like it did anyways."
The Megaman comparison is actually quite fitting. I'm pretty sure there's some Megaman Doom mod that goes off the artstyle of the first few games, and Exophobia looks a lot like it.
Only getting the story from terminals is very Marathon. While I would love to see Civvie tackle my favorite fps, I feel like he might think Mandie had the definitive review of it. I recall Civvie appeared there.
Hot take: Companies should be made to honor coupons from 1995. Or allow them to be exchanged with a current one/offer an equivalent discount. It would stop them from printing hoards of garbage, confusing, borderline worthless coupons like they’re printing a bestselling daily newspaper!! There must be just an inconceivable amount of coupons for every person every minute. Then again, I did yell at a cloud earlier. “I used to be with ‘it’ But then they changed what ‘it’ was.
