Keep being you morgen, you are the very first cruiser I ever followed on youtube, I've been watching you for YEARS, in fact your videos are what got me interested in cruising. I hate negative themed videos, I can understand if something is bad, but so many channels go out of their way to post the negatives with overly done thumbnails, as they know it gets more traction. I watch emma to see british ships, tony to laugh, don cause he's sweet, JJ they go on ships I want to see, Ilyana for her what to packs and outfits. I rarely click on anything with a negative title, I just won't if it looks contrived. I mostly search out a ship or port I am interested in and watch everyone's take on it. Keep doing what you're doing. I hope your ship gets fixed in time! fingers crossed!!
While in Oahu, hike up Diamond head, make reservations online, fee now is $10. It’s a great hike and the view from the very top is amazing. Go as early as possible before the heat sets in. Then on the way back stop at Leonard's Bakery for some Malasadas (Portuguese donuts)
In Hilo, you MUST visit the volcano. It is active now and you very well could see some lava flow. My niece works at the Kilauea Lodge. An awesome place to see the power of Madame Pele’!! Aloha Morgan!
Yes been to Hawaii many times. 2 waterfalls in Hilo, Akaka Falls and Rainbow falls. Hilo town is very small so not much to see or do there. Kauai has a very nice fall but the best thing to do is take a Helicopter ride to see the Napoli Coastline. Take a look at Island Helocopters. Brodi from On Hawaii Time (RU-vidr) is one of the pilots of that company. Great guys and awesome Pilot. Take a look at Outrigger on the Beach, great hotel on the beach and in the middle of Waikiki. LuLu’s cafe for good food down the street.
Morgan..do Hawaii to Australia then another cruise over to New Zealand...it's totally doable and I'm sure you can get from New Zealand back to Vancouver if you don't want to fly!
I put off taking an Alaskan cruise for a long time for the same reasons you gave, but it ended up being my favorite. Safe, walkable ports. Beautiful scenery. Not hot and humid making me want to get back on the ship for air conditioning. We went in May and had perfect weather and very few children. Going again this year.
I have been a huge Morgan fan forever... I like that you have a different view from many of the others, and it's crazy that RU-vid makes all of the creators go through this jungle just to get a good show out there. Keep up the good work, and the viewers will continue to add up. Slow and steady is always a good way to go!!❤
I watch all of your videos. I'm usually interested in your content, I appreciate what you do and I like your personality. As for your volcano video...I don't think the lack of interest in it had anything to do with you. I think it had to do with the "volcano". That was the least volcano-y looking volcano I've ever seen. It looked like a big, dirty hill. The thumbnail showed that, so it didn't look very interesting. I don't mean to diminish what an effort it was to climb it, but there just wasn't much to see except...rocks...and that it was windy. Hoping your upcoming videos get a better response. It's easy to see you put in a lot of thought and effort. And...please, please, please give yourself the gift of cruising to Alaska. We're going for our second cruise there this summer. You won't believe how stunning it is. Book a balcony so the scenery is just outside your door but you can easily step inside if you get cold.
I don't often watch your mid week video until the weekend, so maybe views will increased after the weekend. I have heard having lots comments helps push the video. Even multiple comments by the same person. You don't do your "Did you get one, what was it about..." jingle anymore. That increases comments!
Morgan, I do not mind creators using 'clicky' or 'dramatic' thumbnails as long as they still deliver in the content. Just an example, your hiking thumbnail delivered but you could stretch it more and still deliver a TRUE TO TITLE video. As an example something like 'Questioning whether hiking up a volcano alone was really the smartest thing to do?' Remember it is the thumbnail they want even though the title did still say Volcano, get it in the thumbnail. Loyal followers will watch as it is true to the content though maybe with a little Viva Tiara flair but it will also highlight the video to hikers of volcanoes. For me, if a creator starts saying 'Almost killed by pre-historic beast while in the throughs of near death trek on Island in the middle of the ocean.' and then trips over a fossil on his way to a museum in Prince Edward Island or a gecko on his way to Sloppy Joes in Key West, I am not going to be fooled again. Your content is good and the variety and candidness is there for me. Play the game RU-vid requires you to do to grow. I cannot remember where the line is from but sometimes it is spot on 'Don't hate the player, hate the game!'.
Stayed at the Park Shore Hotel in Honolulu and absolutely loved it! Smaller hotel at the quiet end of the beach strip with great views of Diamond Head as well as the ocean. Hawaii Vacation Guide channel on RU-vid is a phenomenal source of information for everything Hawaii. My son and I both found it the best resource as we planned our respective trips.
You keep doing you Morgan! That’s why I watch you. You had me excited for a second talking about Alaska. My husband and I are planning next year June/July. We want to see the icebergs, bears and whales. Would love for you to go so I can see what you think. People report it’s “life changing”!
I like Cadbury eggs! I discovered them as a teenager close to 50 years ago. But I won’t pay several dollars each for them. On the rare occasions when I eat one, I nibble because it is so sweet.
@@23oakhill I guess you must be talking about the crème eggs? I can see your point with the crème eggs. The crème and the chocolate can be a bit sweet, but I love sweet things. There is also the mini eggs.... nothing slimy about those. I just love the Cadbury Chocolate. It is very satisfying.
@@dougwheeler1265 I agree about mini eggs, they are delicious. I am interested to know, are you from the States? If so how easy is it to get British chocolate, and is it expensive. I have always found American chocolate awful . We import very little of it to the UK because it does not have a big audience here.
I understand your concern, but we're on the SYD-HNL transpacific - we're very concerned (at the beginning of the video I though you might be on that leg)! We'll be in AU for a week before the cruise and hoping they do not cancel it while we're there. That would be a logistical mess. BTW, the BoS is scheduled to leave the repair dock on April 3 @ 6:00pm... Hopefully they have it fixed and won't need a drydock.
Lots of fingers being crossed at this moment! I hope your cruise happens and that you have a great time. Hide a bottle of wine in our cabin when you disembark :-P
For your few days on Oahu, if you want nightlife, stay close to Waikiki beach. If you want more scenic, stay a little out of the city in the Ko Olina area - Marriott Vacation Club or Disney Aulani. On Kauai, Fern Grotto and Waimea Canyon
I completely understand - I bought in as an owner in the Marriott Vacation Club at Ko Olina 20 years ago - I can't believe what it goes for a night now - defiantly couldn't afford staying there @@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides
awww you got us excited hehe we thought that you may have been coming to our beautiful country, australia . oh well, who knows what the future olds, anything is possible :)
The Pacific IS famous for being choppy. ESPECIALLY the crossing to OR from Hawaii to Canada or US. I'd be leary at the front or back of the ship. Of course, it may be that you will be lucky enough to get a smooth sailing! Fingers crossed 🤞 & bonamine in the stomach!!
I’ve loved those dang eggs since they came out years ago. I have no shame about them either! Anyway, I find this whole thing about attracting new viewers fascinating. I think Tony and JJ Cruise both have a good grip on it. I find nothing wrong with slight clicky thumbnails, as long as it’s not a lie and I don’t feel tricked. I have unsubscribed to a couple of cruise content creators in the past for this. I know of one channel I don’t watch anymore because they can’t seem to establish a real identity. You have to have a specific channel personality that long time subscribers will recognize and respect. This is exactly what you have, Morgan. You are doing fabulous and I never miss a Sunday Sofa Time.
Aloha Morgan!! I live in Honolulu, hope you have a wonderful trip here. I am on the Celebrity Edge that goes from Honolulu to Vancouver on 5/1. Maybe you should try to get on that cruise. You should go to the Volcano national park when you go to Hilo. I am going to rent a car and drive there for the day when we stop there but it may depend how long you will be in Hilo. Assuming you want to stay in Waikiki the Hilton Hawaiian Village is a nice place that is on the beach. Have fun!
Ha! I was just finishing my last bite of my Cadbury egg just as you said that! I didn’t like them as a child but love them as an adult. Great video as always.
Amazing work as usual myself and my son teddy love watching you so much so you have inspired us to start our own channel 🎉 what advice would you give ❤
Hello to you and Teddy! My best advice is to start making videos because you just want to have the videos online as memories for yourself. That has to be your biggest motivation. I actually talked more about starting a channel in a recent video. Check this one out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K9qI_occ7fg.html
Morgan, so we watched last week and thought let’s try that for our latest thumbnail…and it didn’t work out so well 😂. We switched to just a picture of us and tripled click rate. So who knows??? Always enjoy your videos and keep up the good work.
Dont miss out on Pearl Harbor. The Arizona Memorial, the battleship USS Missouri, the submarine USS Bowfin. Visit Chinatown and the Kuan Yin temple. And the Magic Island park too. And the statue of Duke Kahanamoku in front of Waikiki beach.
Alaska in August wasn't that cold. Glacier Bay was probably the coldest part. Ketchikan was in the 70s with full sun. It was like California winter into spring.
Azipods are the propulsion system on the Brilliance. Generally when azipods have to be repaired it requires dry docking...last year Carnival Vista required azipod repair and they brought in a semisubmersible heavy lift vessel that facilitated the repair..so hopefully they will be able to do that procedure...Ive never been on Brilliance of the Seas but Ive been on Vision of the Seas...they are pretty small vessels a little over 90,000 gross tons about 2300 passengers...I lived in Hawaii for 3.5 yrs and the Pacific is never calm...if you get sea sick dont do that crossing....you want to cruise Hawaii on an old ship do the 7 day NCL Pride of America...at least youll only have about 3 days of gastrointestinal upset instead of 5 or 6...❤
The Vision class is smaller/older than the Radiance class. ( Brilliance is Rad!) As for the other, the chance of rough seas, that just sold Marcus on it!
@MrJJSimonds The thought of someone throwing up for 5 days might make him think twice...I just got off a cruise where my cabin mate got the flu and being stuck in a 200 sqft cabin with someone coughing and moaning for 4 days had me considering going overboard or throwing them over.
I was going on Brilliance from Oahu to Vancouver, 8 days on April 28 but changed my mind because of the issues the ship has. I would have to fly from San Diego to Oahu 2 days ahead and then fly from Vancouver back to San Diego. That would of been crazy to see you onboard.
We saw Brilliance in Hobart (Tasmania, Australia) - we were on Celebrity Edge in Feb 2024. I wanted to be on it not Edge! I'm SO jealous! I had hoped that she would return to our Aussie cruise roster but she been removed 😞Oh and be positive - I like REAL reviews not hyped up BS. If its great report it; if its crap then report that. Drama, Drama, Drama be dammed!
I look forward to your impressions of Brilliance. We will be on her for an Alaska cruise in September. I don't think Brilliance has as much greenery, but her sister Jewel had my favorite Solarium for years. ( Until we sailed Anthem. If you know, you know ) I definitely second going to Rainbow Falls if you can. That is one of my favorite pictures that I blew up and framed. Also, try to visit a Black Sand Beach. ps. Hawaiian vowels are easy because they are consistent. a = ah, e = eh, I = ee, o = oh, u = oo So you are going to Hee-low and Kah-wah-ee You will love it!
In Hilo, rent a car (very cheap) and drive yourselves to Volcanoes National Park. Easy drive and an unforgettable experience. Also go to the lava tubes.
I’m having the same worries you are!! 😅We leave from Fort Lauderdale on May 11th and finish in Amsterdam on May 25th. The last few cruises we have taken, I’ve had so much trouble getting my land legs back and those were only 7 or 8 day cruises😳 I hope you manage to get to Hawaii; that was supposed to be out 20th Anniversary cruise (thanks Covid🤪). We will get there one day. Keep up the great work and I will watch whatever the thumbnail is😊
NCL has an Alaska cruise leaving from Seattle on May 12th going to Alaska round-trip on the Encore. My wife and I will be on this sailing and we are driving from Vancouver BC to Seattle WA to catch this sailing. If you can switch your flights home you might be able to get an Alaska cruise off of your bucket list.
I lived on Oahu a couple of years. Visit Polynesian Cultural Center and Diamond Head Hotel: Ala Moana hotel on Waikiki Beach. Food: Hotel has a luau often❤. Cant wait to see your video. HILO: Get some Kona coffee. Kauai: Lay back and relax in any beach cottage. The Pacific is no more choppy than the north Atlantic.
Your Hawaii cruise ends in Vancouver BC and you're not going to do a B2B on up to Alaska??? What a missed opportunity! You'll already be in the right place to go to Alaska. I hope you have a wonderful Hawaiian cruise :)
We are cruising from Sydney to Hawaii then Hawaii to Vancouver on Ovation of the Seas. Looks like we will miss you in Honolulu by a day. 😢. If Brilliance can’t be fixed in time, switch to Ovation. 👍
To do in Honolulu 1. Hike to the observation posts 2. eat sausage on purple Taro bread at the stand off Ala Moana To do in Hilo we don't know --- all the RCCL official excursions are full and have been since we booked last December / Whats up with that? There has got tp be huge unfulfilled demand and the Brilliance Excursions staff is doing nothing to earn themselves some $$ by opening up the excursions . Not very entrepreneurial. To do in Kauai: take a shelter dog for the morning and afternoon. Walk, scratch a head. Make a puppy happy. To do on 5 consecutive sea days : Scrabble tournament All day live music - what? they don't have enough musicians hired for that? Booo! Deep discussions of science and philosophy you name the topic How to fix a Azipod lessons? We'll be on the same cruise phone 7002
In Hilo, maybe go to see the valcano. I haven't been there in 20 years, but I love geological visits. Took a helicopter over the lava flow. Great, but expensive.
We just returned from a week in Waikiki and enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. It’s right across the street from the beach, nice rooms (we had 32nd floor with Diamondhead/ocean views), and in the heart of the hustle bustle with all the tourists, which we enjoy.
You answered yourself re "sounding like an idiot!!" Our favorite go to is Catalina 26 miles off LA and it's amazing how many people think this is another country! Currency needed, passports etc etc. It's always better to be in the know
We had a problem back in July 2019 The Oasis of the seas was in dry dock April 2019 and a crane fell onto it . We were due to cruise in July and it was all fine . I know that’s not any help but keep the faith . It will happen . RC will NOT want to refund all those people . Saying that , something as crucial as a propeller is slightly worrying and I hope they don’t rush the works ? 😮
Hawaii is beautiful. Definitely, do a volcano tube tour. It's where you can walk through a tube that was created by a past volcano. I think it was on Hilo. Definitely go swim somewhere so you can say you did that in Hawaii. There's a rainforest in Kihei that I heard was good. We were there in May of 2001. We left from the west coast of USA and it was rough going over the Pacific. We didn't get sick, but many did. Once we got into the calm waters near Hawaii, the Pacific was nice.
I loved the hike in Fuerteventura , You do whatever gets you more clicks, I shall watch what I like whatever the thumbnails say. Tony is a fab vlogger but a bit different to you, and I watch you both , and get equal amounts of pleasure from both of you.
Hi Morgen from Bad Homburg, my family lives in Oz, there is a way for you to get there i.e. fly to Sing 12 hrs then take a cruise to Oz, rtn from Oz to Sing (or vice versa) stay in Singapore for a few days and fly home 😊
We will be in Honolulu starting the 27, and we sail the Celebrity Edge on May 1 to Vancouver. We have done this cruise before, and the Pacific crossing was calm seas and just beautiful! Rent a car for Hilo. So much to do on the island, but there is very little to do in Hilo.
Squirrel! Oh no you just outed yourself ! LoL As for the Hawaii trip, I suggest packing a suitcase of money, so expensive. Again, as I stated on the last video, I think it’s because most people wouldn’t consider this to be a destination on their list . Your video was very well done , so it wasn’t that.
Oh Oahu I think you’d enjoy hiking the Makapuu Lighthouse trail. It’s about 3 miles round trip, a paved trail and not too steep. You may be too late to see whales but from January to March, you can see them almost every day from that trail. Any chance you’ll organize a meet up for those of us who live in Honolulu??
We took a cruise to Alaska from Vancouver in the middle of May. Up front....I sometimes get motion sickness. I always use scopolamine when i fly. I had cruised the Atlantic before without issues. It was not rough seas however. Most of the 10 day trip to Alaska was good weather. Part of the cruise was in the open Pacific. The last night we were in the open ocean was extremely rough seas. Unfortunately it was the night of the fancy dress up dinner. I had gotten all dressed up. At this point the the seas were rough enough to make you look like a drunk sailor walking, being pushed side to side in the hallway.By the time we were seated and I could see outside, I was so sick I could not stay. The dinner was surf & turf. I was so disappointed I had to miss it. I had meclizine pills, but couldn't swallo them. My suggestion is to take chewable meclizine. I needed to buy it on the ship. Thankfully it worked. Hope your cruise isn't cancelled.
DId cruise to and from Hawaii many years ago on NCL. Calm waters both ways, but that is not the usual. Pearl Harbour for sure should be on the list. Fingers crossed!
Sounds like a great cruise! I hope it all happens as planned. As a Diamond member there are no free upgrades. Royal Up is your best bet. As Diamond the 4 free drinks are great. A lot of people are not into the crown lounge but I found it a fun way to meet people. Have fun! 🤩😎
Morgan that is a pathetic excuse for not coming to Australia. We always have to travel long distances to get to the US or Europe from Australia. A trans pacific cruise is a great way to traverse the Pacific and the pick up a 2nd cruise inAustralia!
I thought the best thing in Hawaii was going scuba diving. They have some coral reefs there which are beautiful. I recommend going to see Molokini which is an ancient volcanic mountain island which just barely reaches the surface of the water.
Have a look at Apau Hawaii Tours, I have been following Scott for many years and he is a great chap who takes cruise passengers in Hilo to lots of interesting places , particularly to volcanic areas.
It's such a shame that society nowadays is only concerned and wants to see and hear about negativity we the good people of the world will just have to put on our big boy/girl pants and ignore the thumbnails and just watch the videos. ps I love your content and you make me laugh so i will not be going anywhere Morgan. ❤
I'm still not bored enough with the Caribbean to sail to Alaska. Home (Canada) is Alaska-like plenty for me. Not saying: Never. But certainly not for a while.
I think that was a really helpful perspective from the advice you recieved... to make sure the thumbnail IS directly related to the content. I feel like part of the reason dramatic thumbnails have gotten a bad rap is bc the video attached to it has very little actually related to the thumbnail/ title. That's when it feels like I can't trust "that" influencer... it makes me feel mislead and "caught in the trap" of their dramaticly interesting title that's not truly supported by the content.
I would not feel comfortable to cross the ocean on a ship that is having problems constantly. Just me - but have a great trip! Can’t wait for the videos
I think your issue is you are a travel guide but mostly aim at Cruisers, which is its own set of people. They don't want to see hikes. And they almost always hate All inclusive resort type videos. They are over the top protective over their cruises. You'd be best to have this related to only the cruisers. Go a 2nd channel for your hikers, excursions, resorts etc. IMO.
I hate clicky thumbnails, and clickbait in general. But I also know RU-vid won't promote the channels that don't. I accepted that reality as a viewer a couple of years ago. I don't like it, but I also don't like cleaning the bathroom, and live with doing that, too.
Bite the bullet Morgan and come to Australia. Do a cruise or two and then see a bit more. Must see for you is the Gold Coast in Queensland with all its theme parks.
I feel your concern, always feel stressed when cruises before or after get cancelled... Although, to be honest, find this to be more of a problem with smaller cruise lines with few ships. Royal should be more reliable, but we never know if the dry dock project managers get the work done in time. Best of luck Morgan.
The Pacific has been rough lately as the west coast where I'm at had been hit with storm after storm after storm. So right now it's to early to tell how it will be when you cruise.
