Y con toda esa comida llena de carbohidratos. El mae nos dijo obesos jejeje Pero no se puede uno ofender porque estamos en el 6 lugar en Latinoamérica 😅😅
"Tostones" are made from GREEN platanos, chopped, lightly fried, slightly crushed and then refried. The sweet ones (Maduros) are made from ripe or even overripe platanos.
In San Jose downtown and this market you will find mostly Nicaraguans, not saying its a bad thing but most tourist think they will get to know the real Costa Rica by visiting this places and at least in C.R that's not the case..
Hey man, cool video. Btw, you may find funny that the same Casado plate without the meat (cheaper) it's ordered as 'Divorciado'. Get it, 'cause no meat hehe
My wife and I lived in San Jose in 1983. At that time we could buy two large mecate bags filled with fruits and vegetables from the central market for the equivalent of about five dollars. Our furnished, three - bedroom, two-bath apartment we rented for $300/month, and our maid cost us three dollars per day. Times have certainly changed.
Is this your first time in CR? It seems that you already know a lot of the country. We normally don’t eat the star fruit nor the blackberries like that, you can, but it’s not that common. The most common and best way to consume them is as a natural drink (refresco natural). Ask for “Fresco de Carambola” somewhere. It will taste WAY better. Nice video. ✌🏼
Costa Rica Country very beautiful town look on the road many traveller enjoy traveling... 🎉🎉🎉👍👍I see the many shops on the way good luck with your video my friend!! 💚❤️
Batido de guanábana (soursop smoothie) or nieve de guanábana (soursop icre cream), among my favorite things in life. On the other hand, those fruits are traditionally consumed as drinks. Moras are more appropriately raspberries and are very typical of higher altitude areas.
San Jose actually has about 2 million people, the central canton (which is like the central district) alone has 300,000. And the metro area has about 3.5 million.
The name of the drink is Mozote, and yeah its very usefull for treatment of stomach ailments. Carambola and Mora are better as a drink, mixed up and voila, give them a try. Pura Vida.
I have to say you are very brave for pulling out a camera look in the way you look and walking around this Mercado. Locals normally hide their phones and everything valuable! Maybe get a buddy for your next trip. Be safe!
The electrical distribution in the Central Market does not appear to be safe and it would face many code violations if it was located in the USA.....I have been to the Market, it is a great place outside of the unsafe electrical system.
@@TalesFromTheRoad there are many things you did not try.. The food in the caribbean rice n beans (hot and coconut), agua de sapo, patty, platain tarts. The chorreadas and Tortillas con queso, the helado de sorbetera, picadillos (many kinds), black soup, etc...
Unfortunately, we have been losing our food identity and the most delicious dishes are not found in San José downtown (frito, flor de itabo, picadillo de chicasquil, gallina achiotada, etc), if you want to document real Costa Rican food, you'll have to research a lot first and befriend old local ladies from the countryside.
NO IS NOT LIKE THAT 50%, OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING , Food is good is cheap, a casado is ,2,400,? , $3,50, and some nice foids are _ 2,300, colones 3, to $7, in sodas restaurants , and is 85% to 100%, organic, vegetables , it looks like is the first time in COSTA RICA, BUT NICE VIDEO👍, you are use to eating that gringo food ,
@@TalesFromTheRoad don't worry bro! You did well in the entire video (I dont know about eating in a crowd place in Covid time, but still you were always with facemask and I assume you also kept the protocol) Hope your stay in Costa Rica will be very lovely and have a great impact on you Just remember, keep taking care of yourself
@@TalesFromTheRoad estoy de acuerdo contigo, amigo. Disfrute tu vida y no vivas de miedo. Yo tenía 70 años cuándo cogí convid y no sufrí más que un leve fiebre por unos días.
You must be really cheap if you think $6 for a meal is expensive. It was also very rude of you to judge the amount of carbs people eat there and say that they “ may or may not have an obesity problem.” RUDE. It is not a wealthy country and many times that is what people can afford to eat. You can tell you come from a place of privilege.
