Exotic Scale: Byzantine Scale in C Played in Different Positions | Guitar Lesson 

The Byzantine scale is a symmetrical scale that is derived from the harmonic minor scale. Its formula can be expressed as follows: root, minor second, major third, perfect fourth, augmented fifth, minor sixth, major seventh, and octave. For example, in the key of E, the Byzantine scale would be E, F, G#, A, B, C#, D#, and E. The interval between the first and second notes is called the minor second, while the interval between the first and third notes is called the major third. These intervals give the scale its distinct Eastern flavor.
La escala bizantina es una escala simétrica derivada de la escala menor armónica. Su fórmula puede expresarse de la siguiente manera: raíz, segunda menor, tercera mayor, cuarta perfecta, quinta aumentada, sexta menor, séptima mayor y octava. Por ejemplo, en la tonalidad de Mi, la escala bizantina sería Mi, Fa, Sol#, La, Si, Do#, Re# y Mi. El intervalo entre la primera y la segunda nota se denomina segunda menor, mientras que el intervalo entre la primera y la tercera nota se denomina tercera mayor. Estos intervalos dan a la escala su marcado sabor oriental.
