Damn, another ESEE I need to add to my collection...For some reason,I love cleaver knives.even though I usually avoid Chinese made knives like the plague,I recently picked up the Gerber Tri Tip mini cleaver and I love it for what it is..even though it won’t be getting much use,I had to buy it for the cool factor alone...with that being said,I would definitely put this to use but obviously,it’s far superior to the small $35 Gerber Tri Tip 😂
xpusostomos for a food specific knife I would agree. However this isn’t food specific. It’s a chopper that can serve multiple tasks. Obviously if you are using it for food prep sanitary considerations would need to be made as they would for any knife in the back country or camp setting.
I often wonder how people 200 years ago made it with out stainless steels and kydex. I mean they used leather for sheaths and yet here we are today to be grossed out about carbon steel blades and leather in the woods.
Bob Kramer, a Master Bladesmith that makes kitchen knives, has a line that's made of carbon steel and it's highly sought after. Yes it rusts if not taken care of. Also, many Japanese chef knives are also carbon steel.
Carbon steel make some of the best kitchen knives..my mother, grandmother and great grandmother all used carbon steel butcher knives;my mother still does..still uses the same knives she used when I was a kid,she wouldn’t trade those knives for the best stainless knives
