Why this Dutchman is in Malaysia! Help support Taylor’s work! www.buymeacoffee.com/andrewta... Link to Apartment tour video. • KLCC Lux Apt. Tour! - ...
I had been living/working in Singapore and now living in kl, and it's so much better here: people are more friendly and relax, less crowded, more things to do.. And I wouldn't return to Singapore and live there anymore.. I can get so much more in Malaysia than in Singapore in term of prices wise and facilities !.
KL will only get better. Mercer Quality of Living continue to rise, now it's already comparable to Dubai, Seoul and HK. Maybe in the future, would overtake them too.
I have a sweet 10 year old cat. I know he'll still be around when I retire. It hurts my heart to think of finding him a new home and leaving him behind but it always frightens me to think of him being transported half way around the world.
In Malaysia, my advice, live like locals.. join beautiful locals in West Malaysia, East Coast Malaysia and East Malaysia than your investment living in Malaysia more worth it ... culture, people's, beaches, Island, mountain, rivers, ocean, languages, history and colourful of food's 🎉😊🎉here we live like families... don't too privately or too reserve yourself.. 😊
Hello! Thank you Andy for introducing your friend from Netherland. A Dutch. Cool. He is nice guy and he is season expat who have been in Asia especially Malaysia and Singapore ( since he is wife from Singapore). And btw, nice seeing his cats. They are absolutely adorable 😊
It was nice to meet Eric - I love his apartment! And thanks for the shout out to Kelly, Taylor! She survived our three week absence from Penang and she’s made a new friend, Kova. ❤
Thank you Andy and Erick. I very much appreciate the insights and perspectives. They very much concur with my recollections of living in Malaysia many years ago, and like Erick, the heat was the only overarching thing I recall wanting some reprieve from and that is of concern I would have about retiring back to Malaysia today. I do recall adapting and KL feeling hotter but a bit drier then Penang, and if anyone has any personal take on the heat when older I'd appreciate the insights as well.
TQ Taylor for doing good job in introducing Mlysia to the social media world. Keep it up. Take care..I hope you ll get more frens in mlysia n the internationally..
Hey Taylor, I watch all your videos and I am from Australia. Will be visiting KL.FROM 4TH May with my wide. Will be in Mid Valley- Gardens Hotel. It would be good to catch up with you if we can. Best regards, Errol
What a wonderful interview with Eric in his luxurious apartment near KLCC. He's the second Dutch I know that lives in Malaysia. The other one is Nick, and his channel Global Gibbon who has been living in Kucing for 10 years married to a local Sarawakian lady.
You should make some time to visit one of the highlands in Malaysia, nearest is Genting Highlands or the Tropical French Colmar Village in Bukit Tinggi or few hours from KL are Cameron Highlands and Fraser's Hills, Kundasang in Sabah also looks lovely.
@@andrewtaylor4558 That sounds good. You ought to know that Genting Highland is the only legally permitted gambling casino in Malaysia. It's also an indoor amusement park and outdoor themed park. Recently, there are many new attractions in the themed park including a shopping mall. Awana Genting Highland is one of the best place to stay, but you got to take a cable car to the top. The hotel with the most hotel rooms in the world is also located on top of the hill. 😀
The Mediterranean is beautiful (but one would miss the Malaysian-Singapore foods-fruits terribly) but in August, some parts eg Spain are unbearably hot
The quality of life, an expat working with expat benefits, been there done that. You get so spoiled you don't want to go back home wherever that might be.
Andrew, you previously said in another video that had you not needed to live in KL you would have enjoyed lvery much iving in Penang. Can you expand a bit as to your reasons and what places you would have chosen ? Thanks.
@@andrewtaylor4558 Thanks Taylor! I have an ultra short attention span! One other comment--I like the muted background music. Kind of like a piano lounge.
Curitiba to Campinas, Campinas to Sao Paolo, Sao Paolo to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Singapore, Singapore to KL (during pandemic no direct flights from Europe to KL), total more than 50 hours. Killing…
What a nice interview you almost cover all angles even pets. You bring us in your guest life. If the guy is interesting got many interesting stories you can do it in series. Thank Taylor.
Hi, Taylor. I've been in communication with that agency you recommended. Unfortunately, Malaysia is going to tax all FSI (foreign sourced income), including pensions, beginning in 2027. Since Malaysia and the US don't have a tax treaty, that means I'd have to pay double taxes on my pension if I relocated there. It's not financially viable. I don't know if you've done a video on this issue yet, and 2027 seems a long ways away, but it seems like a topic worth considering.
@@michaelhooi2856 The agent confirmed it but you can Google "foreign source income tax Malaysia". I'm not here to encourage, discourage, or convince anybody. It was originally supposed to tax effect in 2022 and has been delayed to 2026. It might be a flat tax of 3%, which is low, as Taylor says. The Malaysian government seems to shift policies a lot, which makes me nervous. Anyway, I will unsubscribe from the channel and leave you guys in peace.

If you need to live and work in Malaysia but must live with the discriminatory practices, you will have different views. When you do not need to work, you are not affected by all the policies.
@@MarinaLaroche If you do not need to work in Malaysia, you are immune from the problems locals must face, so you have different views. That is what I am saying. So all is rosy for you. You do not even know they have tail lights cause they are too far ahead.
@@MarinaLarocheWhat he meant is since Malaysia is economically controlled by the Chinese, the local majority rarely have a chance to work with their companies as they would discriminate by preferring their own race over other, and even advertised so openly with "Chinese person only" or "Mandarin speaking only" in recruitment ads. And even if they do hire outside their race, the starting salary will be very different than what they will pay to their own people, with excuses like "lazy Malays", "stupid Malays" etc. Yes discrimination and racism is real in Malaysia. This is what separates Malaysian/Singaporean Chinese with other Chinese around the world, their race superiority complex.
Love your interview with expats from all over the world. By fourth hour of this video, you have near 2000 views. They must be waiting for you day and nite😂😂😂😂 Keep up the lovely videos. To Eric why not make Malaysia your home.
