@@teckreactions the "list" is just a suggestion we all are equal in our song recommendations no one is designated as the "single" person a reactor should rely on.. some songs to do from this pivotal standard setting Wacken concert ? EverDream, Ghost River, Song of MySelf, Amaranth, Bless The Child
Marko (the bass player) is a living legend in the metal world. The guitar player (Emppu - pronounced EM-poo) can shred with the best of them but rarely does. All the members of the band play for the song, not to show off. No egos in this band. And that was a 3 octave glissando to D6 and back down in one breath.
Kai said solos, while cool, need to serve a purpose within the music. That's why he likes Emppu, his solos are designed to add to the piece, rather than to say Hey look at me!
Ringo Starr also only played what was necessary. Just as all musicians in Nightwish he played for the song. A lot of folks give him crap for being a bad drummer, very wrong. What makes a really good musician is to know when not to play. A great song can easily be ruined by musicians who don't know when to step back. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wJTjjAXDZSY.html
No Prisoners taken on this one. This is a solid Banger. What about "Ghost River" from Wacken 2013 next - pretty sure you will love it.... Nah, Floor doesn't steal souls, she rescues them, nurtures and feeds them, and keeps them warm and safe, far away from the cold and scary world. Under her care, our souls are as snug and cozy as a former stray cat, now snoozing and purring in front of a crackling fireplace All Hail Queen Floor !
Thank u for mentioning that guitarist Emppu's look/stare to the audience "how many souls are escaping" ...I allways like that but u were first reacter to give shout out to that😅
Hi. Something in your look and your smile tells me that you have already become one of us :) Obviously exploring this true musical treasure gives you great pleasure. I think this is the threshold, when you do it for pure pleasure, and not to meet the expectations of others
Jukka is a showman, his setup and drumming style is all about that. He is extremely animated behind the set and you can see him clearly. The current drummer Kai is way more technical and precise, I'm sure you'll see him later too.
Impressed yet? 😁 Reactors are the most important part of the army. You are the ones that are spreading awareness of the band, while we are only here to guide and encourage you. So welcome to the army brother 🤗

@@teckreactionsMy wife didn't get my enthrallment with Nightwish and Floor until she watched both of their virtual live concerts with me. Now she gets it, but wishes Floor would bring her solo show to Canada.
Another deep rabbit hole is Ayreon. To get a tast of it start with the video The Day That The World Breaks Down with 11 of the world best metal singers. You will certainly recognize a few of them.
Emppu (the guitar player) is honestly the biggest Floor fangirl out there istg :D He always looks so proud and hyped when Floor hits those notes and they actually have this cute tradition, where after the last note of ghost love score they put their devilhorns🤘🏻together or do a little bow :D its really nice to see!
I have seen Emppu start to bow to Floor since the virtual concerts in 2021, and once live in 2022. He does this medieval court style flourishing bow to Floor as she is the Queen. So cute, and fun. But I have also seen Floor do a curtsie to an orchestra conductor in an Epica concert. She can be a wild wolf on stage, but has real class, and earns the respect she gets.
Tama Drums still list Jukka Nevalainen on their web page even though Jukka haven't been playin for years. Kai Hahto plays Pearl drums and he is listed on their web page.
Gotta love that banshee slide at end, gets me every damn time, so epic - and the smirk on Emppu s face at the end of it like he’s saying “yep, that just happened, deal with it!” lol
The switching on the upbeats and downbeats is something they use quiet often. Told you, no song is the same and you just started this big journey. Thanks for your reaction sir!
Jukka “U-Kah” As a former drummer myself, I noticed early on that his kit set up was strange to me. Seated so low, and the extreme angles of his drums. But he was such a great, energetic and showy drummer. Lots of fun to watch.
Enjoy your NW reactions a lot! Marco, the bass player, is also an incredible good singer and one of my alltime favorite male voices. He won the finish version of The masked singer. Every member of this band is pure gold standard. Enjoy your ride, there is so much more to explore. Btw, I thing you’re a Member of the NW army in the moment you decide to want this. Welcome!
You became a member of the army when you had your first Floorgasm during Ghost Love Score. I would suggest 'Song of Myself' next, before you start randomising Gabriel's suggestions. No real reason other than it's another banger, and Jukka's drumming is next level.
Great commentary Teck. Welcome to the ranks. It is official. Your passion for music and deep knowledge of music makes you an obvious inclusion. You are drafted. Straight to corporal. There are several song with interesting time signatures and musical arrangements. I look forward to your drum analysis. I think the Wacken opener "Dark Chest of Wonders, and "Song of Myself" are interesting choices. However, the dart will choose and we will look forward to the next one. Till then, peace out.
I agree with Gabriel and other commenter, you are already one of us in the Nightwish Army. 🤘🤘. Keep exploring, much more to hear and see. Romanticide is one of the heavier songs, Tarja era, from the 2004 album Once, same record as GLS. That 'snatching the souls note' was a 3 octave glissando that Floor did in tandem with Marko, The studio version only had his 2 octave slide. The song itself is about a romance that has died, time to move on. Emppu does shred here, and very well, but he doesn't do a lot of it, they all play what the song needs, not to show off. The band jokester, he is almost always smiling and having fun Yep. Marko sings, he is an outstanding vocalist. Sang a lot of backing and co lead , and a few lead vocals in his 2 decades with Nightwish('01-'21). He was lead singer in his first band ,Tarot. Has solo work, including an album in 2020, and is a member of the Supergroup, Northern Kings, where he sings some lead. Marko's lead vocal song with NW include the cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes live at Helsinki 2005 (End of an Era DVD), The Islander(Tampere 2015), and While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembley 2015).
That glissando at the end is something else, isn't it? I love the way that Floor keeps going up and up, while Marko goes up, then down, then, at the very end just starts up again to meet her coming down. The breath control that both of them have is phenomenal. I'm not going to lie, much as I love Floor, I think I love Marko just a bit more. He is loved and respected in Finland as one of the founding fathers of metal in that country. Since you have your Nightwish order all picked out, I will just throw a brief mention of the cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the End of an Era DVD. The lead singer at that time, Tarja. is off doing a costume change and it's just the guys. You can really get a great look at the fantastic vocal and instrumental musicianship of all of them. Thank you for your reaction and welcome to the Nightwish Army.
Marko actually won Finland's Masked Singer. He sung both Finnish and English songs including Gangsters Paradise and Everybody (Backstreet Boys). Think his character name was Tohtori. Well worth a watch/listen but probably not a reaction video.
As a bonus, here's our "Ave Flora" (aka Hail Valkyrie) for new recruits (abbreviated version): Ave Flora musica plena, Nightwishem armatum tecum Et vive cum Marco in aeternum ut gaudeas nos Sancta Flora mater Saturni, canta pro nobis adsectatoribus Nunc et in hora veritatis... 🤘
First reaction from you that I watch! Well done! Really liked how you did it and how much you enjoyed it!! Subbed! and looking forward to your whole journey with Nightwish!! I'll catch up soon on your videos! ;)
@@teckreactions Now I've watched them all of your vids to NW! When you feel is time keep them coming!! ;) Song of Myself with you as a drummer will be fun! and there's quite a big variation for you to explore! ;)
When Marko was 15 he moved from home to a different town to study singing and classical guitar. He has a fantastic voice. The non-translated part in the middle translates to something like "Will you sing along if I play the second verse". This is a great example that as I mentioned before there is no place for egos in Nightwish, Floor is happy to be backup vocals. Troy was a perfect addition to the band. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zo8ncK_5kzc.html
Do NOT put The Poet and The Pendulum on the list unless you read up on the backstory first as this song deals with the departure of Tarja(first singer)from the band and the aftermath
@@pietdegeling8686 Well from the likes it received it appears my opinion is more popular than your reply and even if you disagree with my opinion , to rubbish it is arrogant as a lot of people unfamiliar with Nightwish find the backstory interesting and gives them an insight to what the song is about and as its Tuomas's most personal composition it makes sense to know the story behind it !!
Another great reaction! You cant go wrong on Gabriel’s list. No need to follow it line by line. But it definitely has the best versions of the songs. Personally I think you would enjoy Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Also. People always debate who the best singer was/is for Nightwish. The answer is and always will be Marko
Hmm, maybe the next one you can see a song with both Kai on the Drums, and Troy on the pipes. I want my tears back live from Buenos Aires 2019 :D Excited to see what the dart lands on. Hehe.
What's next, no matter what you choose it will "Floor" you! Thank you for my feed, Marko was a surprise here for you, still another member for you to see in other songs I hope tp see you react to soon!
This is another of my favorite Nightwish songs (I know, I say this for about 20 of their songs) One of my favorite parts of this song, is in the middle where Marko and Floor switches back and forth, and Floor keeps singing like she is walking up stairs. Meaning her vocals kept ramping up with each verse. But the whole song and video are absolute perfection!
_GLS_ is my favourite performance for watching reactors discover Nightwish, but this is my favourite for react/analysis videos because there's so much to analyse, whether you focus on composition, lyrics, vocals, guitars, or - as in your case - drums. I look forward to the dartboard!
Floor's stage presence and control of the fans, is epic. Also the pyro and special effects are great.your reactions are quite enjoyable and pretty much spot on. I appreciate your knowledge.
Great reaction as always! I am so looking forward to seeing you react to more. I promise you that the advice you followed ( expect nothing, expect everything ) is the best approach you can have.
So far you've see the epic symphonic metal, rock, and now the straight metal sides of Nightwish. You still have the folk metal, Prog rock, ballad and "whatever it is that Nightwish feels like doing" sides. 😂
When you’re done with the Nightwish list, try “Ayreon - The day that the world breaks down”. Dutch Prog Metal at its finest with 11(!) singers from big name bands in the rock & metal scene (Gee, I wonder if you know the last one 😉)…That’s a good start for a whole other rabbit hole…
When Jukka retired for personal reasons he chose his drum tech Kai Hahto as his replacement. Jukka is still with the band but more like "in the office". Different styles but both are equally impressive. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tbb8m3wNXbs.html
Next should be Slaying the Dreamer from Buenos Aires. It was not only voice connection between Floor and Marko, but there you will also see it through acting on the stage :) Great reaction btw :)
Hi Matt! Love to see you enjoying yourself so much! Loved the info about Jukka's drumkit. I think you're the first to mention it, great. I think it's time you meet his successor, the lovely "Human Metronome" Kai Hahto from Wintersun with "Sons of Winter and Stars". Kai is happily beating his drums in that one!🤣🤣
Totally like the darts idea! I think since I was a fan long before I ever heard of the NW Army, I suppose you can say that once you've heard a bit of each album and each singer you can really say you've heard the breadth of what NW can do. If you love the art that Tuomas creates (Twoah-mas) at that point, then I really can't deny your membership in the fold. My picks forward: "Ever Dream", "Yours Is An Empty Hope", "I Want My Tears Back", "Song Of Myself", "Last Ride Of The Day", "The Poet And The Pendulum", and "The Greatest Show On Earth". Wacken 2013 (as you've been seeing) and Tampere 2016 are excellent feature concerts. Before you get to the last couple, consider doing a longer reaction to "Please learn the Setlist in 48 Hours" (sort of a backstage documentary) to check out how Floor wound up filling in this tour you've been watching. Gabriel's got the welcoming message and the best picks on lockdown and I totally appreciate him for that. I'm just excited that you're also someone who can talk shop about it. I'm a music educator here in MA and play several instruments including drums, and do composition and production myself, so the more you nerd out the more I personally enjoy it. Cheers to you! :)
Hi ! I liked your accurate comments of the music and musicians. And I noticed you gonna keep on tracking this NW path, so here is a new sub. for you. Greets from Finland. Take care.
Jukka is definately one to watch on live performances. He often performs 'stick tricks' during the course of the song - I don't know if there is a correct term for that - as you will see when you get around to Nemo.....
If you go back to the start and count in with the drums you’ll notice Emppu comes in on the off beat. Jukka initially joins him before switching back to the downbeat.
Hello TECKreacts, NW Army Italian Division here. Nightwish's songs are all different from each other and every single new song you hear you will say "this is my favorite song" 😁 Nightwish will never disappoint you.
I would back up to the show opener for the Wacken 2013 concert you’ve been watching videos from. It’s the first time many of the 82,000 in the audience will see Floor perform with Nightwish. It’s a great opener and really set the stage for what’s to come. Time to open the Dark Chest of Wonders (Live @ Wacken 2013) Enjoy!
Hey again TECKreacts! Awesome, Dude. Now that is what I call a proper reaction... as have been each of your previous two, to this amazing band. I am 67 and discovered this band three years ago and fell in love with it instantaneously. Have fun picking your next live performance to react to. Nightwish is the rare band whose live performances are even better than their studio productions. Keep them coming.
Hey Teck! You should react to "Tribal" original live... it has great drums that I'm sure you'll love and it goes HARD!!! Or "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015, with a bit of a drum solo at the beginning and great drums throughout! Great reaction and keep them coming! NW Buenos Aires, ARG.
I am not sure you have chosen yet. But ... there are two of my favorites from the Wembley arena concert 2015. * Yours is an empty hope * Shudder before the beautiful If you do not plan to react to them - I recommend you to listen to them anyhow. They are worth it. In those two the drummer is Kai Hahto - more of a power drummer. He is a big smiling bear! If you really want to see Kai, you should take a look at the group Wintersun.
Isn't this just so super great in every way? Nightwish and a nice long drive on the highway with a good stereo system Is another great experience. It's hard not to speed, but so much fun. This was a great reaction. Like your idea on doing a a composition by Nightwish with a dart. That's cool. Cheers.
Welcome. You may think for yourself, nah i just stay for the Vast Following and the great Music, but im not snatched....dream on:) You enlisted , least Today;) Stay Healthy, Dude! Metalhead Frankonia, Bavaria, Germany.
I haven't seen you react to The Warning. They might be a new favorite. Three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. At the time of the concert, Dany (Guitar, Vocals) was 22, Pau (Drums, Vocals) was 20, and Ale (Bass Vocals) was 17. At that time, they had been playing together for close to ten years. As a Drummer, I think you will especially like how Pau was doing Lead Vocals and delivered a killer fill at 1:56. ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wo0odllVq8g.html
Where much music (metal or other) can tend to be formulatic (guitar riffs and drum solos) Nightwish is anything but. Everyone does what is needed without having to be the “star”. Floor may be the front person and perceived as the star but she totally realizes and appreciates that it is the presence of all of them performing together at the very highest level that creates the Nightwish vibe and excellence. The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible Absolutely kickass. Jukka in “Beast Mode” on the drum kit…….as usual🤘
You lowered your head just as Tuomas took a swig of wine! Hope you rewatched! Emppu can shred when the song asks for it! See his work with another band? "Brother Firetribe" - their songs are in English but think of a Finnish Bon Jovi! Have I said it? "Paiste cymbals - We survived Jukka Nevalainen, Wacken, 2013!"... Floor-raid siren G3- D6 and back!
I don't know nothing about drumming but my ears say Jukka, Dave Lombardo, Cesar Zuiderwijk, and of course Ariën van Weesenbeek... sounds great! So I get the love for drumming
