He's not mad at all, in fact I think John Pienaar looks like he's quite at ease. He's using the standard form of adversarial journalism which is how political interviewing is carried out in the UK. The strategy is to attack-attack-attack with questioning and see if the subject can duck and weave without giving something away they didn't mean to. His subject is indeed calm and measured, and offers a lot of reassurance that what he's saying is correct. We hear often that US journalists can be far too deferential and softball over there, and if your reaction is anything to go by, it's probably true.
