In the spring of 1930, Alfred Wegener and his men faced a race against time on an expedition to Greenland, in hopes of proving the existence of continental drift. For a whole year, he and his team compiled data from high in the atmosphere and deep in the ice sheet.

My father was stationed in green land befor I was born in the 60's. All I know is a few black and white pictures. Nothing more. Thank you for showing me some of my father's history

Crazy inspiring. It's insane to think he and his team ventured out to land that had never been seen by humans before. And that 400km trek, wow.

Crazy minds !! Love their passion and drive to push through such environments. I’ve spent many nights in a tent near Qaanaaq while raging Greenlandic Piteraqs threatened the tent walls from outside. ( with 21 st century luxury and emergency coms & nav ) Great share !

There was something very... Victorian in Wegener's determination and boldness in the process of achieving His goals. He followed into the steps of Shackleton, Irvin and Mallory, Scott....and so on.
