I thought I'd make a video dedicating to an avenue of collecting that I love: Golden & Silver age DISNEY comics! Do you know there's a few that could pay for your college? Maybe even MORE than a few!

Awesome video! I love when you do this kind of historical and marketing research and share it.

Carl Barks stories often have good value. Other artists love him and he inspired some early manga styles. I made a video showing off one of his Donald Ducks books I got from 1952.

I help with a monthly Instagram claim sale for one of the biggest golden age dealers in the USA (definitely in the Southeast where I'm located at least), and I can confirm that old Disney comics are consistently big sellers. They're hot in every sale we have, regardless of grade.

Absorbing all this information, the possibilities. Books we wouldn't even consider. Thank you sir!

Now we're talking! Carl Barks is my favorite comic book creator, and I feel like his comics are really under-appreciated here in North America. (As someone has pointed out, that Alvin & Chipmunks isn't a Disney title BUT does deserve some love too.)

Great vid with good info! But to clarify, even though they fit the category nicely, the Chipmunks (Alvin, Simon & Theodore) are not Disney. 🙂

I regret letting my early Uncle Scrooge Four Colors #386 and 495 go years ago...liked this character...still reasonable priced in lower condition..

Lately I've been losing interest with my Bronze - Modern Collection and have been more drawn to the Golden Age. The Disney Books specifically have been catching my eye so I'm glad you made a video dedicating the topic specifically to the these books. Donald Duck is my favorite cartoon character of all time and the combination of Barks/Buettner/Kelly are a grand slam. The stories Barks told obliterates anything I read from the Silver Age (They still rank as some of the best stories I ever read) and the artwork is so alluring that it almost has a magical element to it. The gem in my collection is a very early issue of Walt Disney Comics and Stories from 1942. Not an iconic cover or key issue, but its in a CGC 9.8. I know its odd but having something that old and in such good condition makes it a unique treasure in my books. You may be able to find those books since so many were made, but in good condition? Like you said, that's the actual challenge and for me, that makes the hunt far more satisfying

Be cool to do one on all of the Marvel licensed comics that have come out and hold some value. The MMPR series from the mid 90s has some crazy prices and fluctuations

A comic book store in my area always puts $2.99 on everything Uncle Scrooge and Disney. Seems kind of weird but I guess there might be some value there

I was at my local flea market the other day and saw a whole box of these. I got so excited and started pilfering them until I noticed the dreaded Whitman reprint symbol in the upper left corner of every single issue. 😩

The dismissive attitude toward these books frustrates me. I think some just don't know. I have some of these which I am grateful for. A note on Carl Barks: There are the books he did the interiors for (pricey) and the books he did the cover AND interiors for (more pricey). I own FC 129 and 208 (Song of the South) and I should note FC 693 reprints 129 partially and is itself not cheap. And then we can talk about the price variants/back cover variants for Four Color and other Dell issues...

I’m always open to picking up cartoon comics for just that reason, they are very often dismissed when there is potential value there. The great Frank Frazetta drew cartoon animals early in his career. Even after he became the godfather of fantasy art, he would often say that he really felt more natural and had more fun drawing cartoon animal funnies.

Great video as always, but it looks like a few books weren't talked about. From the 9:15-9:25 mark, there were a few books added to the list that weren't talked about. Such as the Bambi book and Winnie the Pooh.
