The background music is just not compatible to your "vintage-y" niche, its even a little bit annoying. Other than that as always, great insights Christian!
Hey Christian, You inspired to get into vintage watches over the year. Let us know when your going to visit the Patek Phillipe exhibition. I would love to meet and talk watches!
I don't completely agree with your Heuer stance but I still liked the video. In fact, I "thumbs up" the video. I feel Heuer captured the chronograph market in the 60's and 70's with great time pieces that stood out from other brands by offering quality, technical advances (they offered the world's first GMT/Chronograph) at an attractive price point. Plus many models look uniquely different and the vintage market has taken and will continually notice. I grew up with Heuer, my father has many vintage watches from many brands but the Heuers seems to get the most wrist time; he owns 3 Heuers, Siffert, Bundeswehr, and GMT/Chronograph. Keep up the great work! Viel Spaß im Urlaub! (Have fun on vacation!)
What you said about the value retention of watches (especially second hand) is exactly what I always thought about watches. I remember when I was young and my dad drove a nice car for a couple years, put a bunch of miles on it, then sold it for more than he paid. Thanks for another great video! Cheers from Portugal, -Will
I'm glad you put quality straps on the watches you sell..... I just bought a vintage Omega seamaster from a dealer and it came on a $5 glued together Chinese fake leather strap that disintegrated as soon as I put it on. and the spring bars were different sizes and equally bad quality. they would have failed any day if I didn't change them
I'm geeking out that my question of the Hamilton got answered Christian! Thank you so much! side note, what's that amazing strap you put on the Universal Geneve?
Oh, they are my thoughts too regarding ham-fisted, bad re-scaling of watch designs, 99% of the time it just spoils the design. Of course they depend on people having no regard, and that only the lowest common denominator of public tastes matter.
I absolutely love the style and design of vintage heuers but the crazy crazy prices spoil it for me sometimes. I know some people are happy to pay those prices otherwise they wouldn't be as high as they are, but still....
interesting comparison on Hamilton/Omega being that Omega makes speedmasters smaller than 42mm and the Hamilton may wear like the Omega, maybe try one on,huh
I had the same question regarding heurs. yes to me i felt they are expensive but i like some of the models. i like the cv2110 with the white dial but maybe a speedmaster reduced is a better value
can you guys put a strap on a santos galbee? it's the one with the date at 5 oclock (not the one with the date at 3 oclock). i want a strap similar to the one that comes on the cartier santos 100. thanks in advance.
Venus Dee I don't think so! Could be possible that they'll release a few for some majorly important people. But not rich people, per say. More like prizes to who would be, in their eyes, the most positively influential people of the world.
Venus Dee the answer is no. A precious metal president is iconic. Making one in stainless would dilute the brand since they no longer have that patent and other low end brands ( like hamilton )have copied the design.
Guy! I am so sorry about that. This week has been a little bit of a mess - I've been working from vacation so balancing the spotty wifi and time with my family with emails has gotten the best of me! But that's no excuse. Are you free to give us a call today? If we can schedule one, I would love to do that!! (And unfortunately, the Cartier already sold! But I'd still be more than happy to talk watches!!!)
