In this video I compare the top-of-the-line CRG Arrow Mirrors vs. the cheap Amazon Special MZS bar end mirrors to tell you if the CRG mirrors are worth 5 times the asking price. I've been running the CRG mirrors on my 2016 KTM 1290 Super Adventure for a couple of years while I've used the cheaper MZS mirrors on multiple ADV rides on my 2008 KTM 990 Adventure this year. Thanks for your video. I installed bar ends on my africa twin with the Amazon special. You can actually replace the glass I cracked one and had a new glass fitted at the local glass shop.

Thank You Mr. Orsini! I bought a pair from Amazon for $20.00USD from MIC tuning. They are great and the glass in the is nice and clear. The glass is not replaceable, but I ordered a backup pair after enjoying these. I spent the darn $49.00USD for the Rottweler mounts and wasn't about to spend $240 USd for mirrors! Ain't NO way! Just go to amazon type in MICtuning mirrors.. I have them on my 1190 R and I like them! Good Adjustablility. ...As I was they are now $23.00USD...I've had mine for over a year.

Thanks for sharing that. I like to upgrade my bike but it's hard to justify the cost of some the items you see in a lot of videos.

Keep in mind that there's another more affordable option... Rottweiler sells the same kit, but using CRG's round "Hindsight" mirrors for $179. Still expensive, but it's $100 less than the Arrow mirrors, and retains CRG's high quality materials. Round mirrors may not look the best on the KTM, but looks are subjective, and the round mirrors may offer more visibility in the vertical direction. Great video, thanks for the honest opinion.

I'm running them on my 990 and Pete is running them on his VStrom. They are NOT as good as the CRGs but...for the money I'm not complaining.

They get here tomorrow! 🙏🏻Figured for the price it was worth the chance. If they suck then I replace them with the crg as soon as I crash hard enough to break them.

@@2WR just now installing these. As all things Amazon, quality seems to vary greatly. My set has the foldable part torqued down super tight with pre stripped screws. So they can’t be loosen and fold. One lens also has defect in it where it causes a big warp in the image. My fault for letting them sit past the return date.

Thanks Mario, I’ve got the cheap ones on my super duke and have been looking at higher quality mirrors, but now, I think I’ll just stick with what I have.

Good comparison Mario. I just bought the Rottweiler adaptors and CRG mirrors for my 2020 KTM SAS. I’ve had the cheaper version on a different bike and was forever having to tighten and adjust. I agree that the Rottweiler are probably not 4 times better, but I’m confident based on your review that they should outperform the cheaper copies.

Have the same bike as you do 2016 SA T. I am happy with the mirrors that came with it. I did follow few of your tips regarding long rides. Sheep skin, foot pegs for the crash bars and garmin zumo XT install. I appreciate your time in making those videos! Thanks

@@2WR Love it! We did Chicago (home) to Black Hills, Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy-horse and back on 4th of July ( 3000 miles in 4 days!) That sheep skin saved my ...... life! 😂

NiceCNC has the same mirrors as the expensive ones with the mounts for bolting to the hand guards. $70

Great video. I'd like to add the MZS to my Africa Twin with Barkbusters but I'm not clear on what adapter is required. Can you clarify?

I have those same mirrors but bought via Aliexpress, price $13, as delivered. Have used them now 3 years with Rottweiler adapter on two bikes without any problems, I have fallen several times and flip functions works, without falling I dont need to touch them at all. Mirror frames have scrathes but they have worked as supposed. Before initial mounting I disassembled mirror legs and put them together with loctite. I wonder when someone in China starts to sell these adapters… Rottweiler price is guite much for a non high end metal block with two threads…

Perhaps the clarity of the expensive mirrors on you touring bike could help justify their cost? That and the fact you are less likely to crash on that bike since you aren’t going into more difficult off-pavement areas with it? For the 950, the less expensive mirrors are perfect. I did something similar with passenger foot peg mounts on my R1200GS and kept the ones via Amazon.

For guys buying a new $20k bike, sure $230 is nothing. For those wanting this style/type of mirror for a used dual sport/adv bike...$230 is a chunk to spend.

I had a set of those exact Amazon mirrors on my 08 990 SD. I will have to say that after a month or so they would not hold there position. I tried lock tight and ended up over tightening and stripping screws on both. They are now in the land fill and I purchased a set from Rottweiler. So in my experience buy once, cry once!

it weird to me that there isn't another branded quality option for mirrors of this type. Something thats of good quality, without the obviously cheeky markup by CRG because they are basically the only game in town. I've a set of CRG arrows and lanesplitters that i've bought over the years in singles, to spread out the cost, they are indeed very high quality.

Hi Mario, thanks for the review on the mirrors. I’ve been looking at these CRG mirrors for sometime now. But to import them to the UK, it just makes them too expensive, with the expensive postage and import duty. Now you have done this new review on the cheaper MZS mirrors, I might take this approach. One question please, compared to the original OEM mirrors, does the MZS give you a realistic view of how far an object is behind you? The reason I ask, I have some real cheap pushbike bar end mirrors, which I experimented with, just to see what it was like using bar end mirrors. One thing I did notice, object behind me looked much further away, than they actually were! Bearing in mind, these are real cheap plastic mirrors, but they do have glass mirrors. I thought this was actually quite dangerous, as you may think another vehicle is some way behind and pull out to overtake, when in reality they are actually much closer. So if you can give some feedback on this, be very much appreciated. 👍

The high end ones and the cheap ones both show things a little further away than the stock mirrors.

i tried those same exact knock offs...absolute garbage. Machining was so bad, they barely functioned. Also, the knockoffs dont click fold like the CRG's. I went with the CRG's. Worth it IMO.

Could be a QA issue. I wasn't expecting to keep them on long term but have had no issues with them riding about 50/50 on/off road. You are correct that they don't "click" but I seldom ever fold them in on either and have the ones on the 990 set up so they just touch the handguard to know they're in the correct place.

@@2WR If you take the hinge apart on the knock offs, it becomes very clear why they dont function as they should.Tolerances are all off, burrs everywhere, the O ring they used is incorrectly sized for channel that was machined. I tried my best to fix it but unless you stick them back on a CNC, you wont get them right. They basically only function as fixed mirrors bc you have to over tighten the snot out of them to get them to stay put. I will agree that the CRG's are over-priced...but I couldn't stand those cheap knock-offs.
