I agree about the weakest point of the iPad as a gaming console is the gaminh library. The iPad share the same library as the iPhone. It needs to get its own library.

I think that if Apple can leverage its 4 main product lines for gaming (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac) to get developers to make high-quality games for a high potential user base when compared to consoles, and also either abandon Metal or create a highly optimised emulator for Windows games to work on the Metal architecture (like what Valve did for the Steam Deck), then the gaming library problem can be easily solved without any other problems, especially with universal purchases. Just imagine booting up Lies of P on your iPad and then carrying your progress over to your iPhone, then settling in front of your Apple TV and continuing from there.

I gave a like, great video- and as a hardcore gamer thats been gaming on EVERY portable gaming device since game boy, psp, android, iPhone, and since the first iPad… the iPad has come a LONG way! I absolutely love gaming on my iPhone and iPad and even more the my switch, psVita, and N3DS. I do have the 2020 iPad Pro unfortunately, but I still absolutely love it. I game on almost every day, from Pokémon go, Pokemon unite, codm, LoL:WR, and more. And yes I DO love xbox and ps5 remote play! But what I’ve done lately is use my backbone on my iPad, the backbone app is the best thing to happen to mobile gaming! I cant wait to play these new AAA gaming coming out natively on iPhone( I got the iPhone 15Pro Max in 1TB, plenty of space) and iPad Pro! I might have to upgrade my iPad soon, just for the gaming because it still shreds through everything else. Also, don’t forget you can use your iPad Pro with a dock or usbc hub and tv it out to a tv or monitor or use a Apple TV, then you’re literally using it as a console! And it works well with remote play so I use it as my console when I travel or visit friends!

It’s not really any of these popular mobile games that I got an iPad Pro for. But one upcoming flight sim that almost nobody knows about called Gunship IV. It’s a game that will be the DCS World of mobile games and is in early alpha right now. The pace of development is slow as only 5 devs are workong on it, but it extremely promising. I’m glad a PC-quality air combat sim is finally happening on mobile.

My only problem with the iPad is having so much power and not being able to take advantage of it. I tried the Air with M1 and as you say, as a tablet it is wonderful, but when I wanted to take it further, Apple itself stopped me with its system. I decided to switch to Android with the S9+ and although the experience as a tablet is frankly not as refined as the iPad nor does it have a service remotely similar to Arcade with good native games... Emulation opens up a whole world of possibilities. Going from the Atari to the Switch is an experience that I would love to see natively on iPadOs. I also don't downplay the merits of Samsung as a Tablet, since the Nexus 7 which was my last Android Tablet, things have improved a lot. In short, as a Tablet the iPad is better, as a Console the Galaxy Tab does the job :)

I got mine as a tablet and portable display so not purely for gaming but I do recommend trying out cloud gaming on a good internet connection.

Indeed Apple is slowly recognizing especially with their Mx chips they have quite powerful game console in their hands besides everything else. I would expect from them to port more and more PC games to their ecosystem and release Apple TV model with enhanced ability for serious gaming. I would be a waste to not use and utilize power of the Mx chips.

Very well said . I was almost worried that you would act like the ipad had enough games on there , but you were honest. So yh it can be a console , if a switch can be then this definitely can , it's just that the game library is thin .

I might say galaxy tab because android is better for emulators if you want to play old console games but also ipad is more powerful and games like genshin have graphic settings that are not even available on Android

Apple partnering with Nintendo would be a smart move for Nintendo, as I don’t see them making any hardware quite like the switch. The do have some of the best IPs but where do they go moving forward? 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@SaggyJ Nintendo partnering up with Apple is a great idea in the first place, that’s what I’m commenting on YT videos on many channels for years now, although it’s unlikely. First of all, Nintendo Co. Ltd. is a Japanese company and pride is what they show. Second, if Apple Inc. wants to buy Nintendo, they must get hold of the majority of stocks that are in possession of many large investors. Most of them won’t sell their Nintendo stocks (obviously). And third, Nintendo is financially very healthy. Yes, Apple has more money and also higher net sales and operating profits, but Nintendo is the richest company of Japan (if we’re looking at “cash in hand” money). Furthermore, Nintendo is already expanding their business with theme parks, movies (the recent cinema movie Super Mario Bros The Movie has already a worldwide revenue of almost one billion dollars on selling tickets), more sorts of merchandise, expanding online subscriptions, a handful mobile games and more to come. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see Apple and Nintendo partnering up, but I think it’s wishful thinking. Or is it?!.. Yes, Nintendo is focused at portable gaming at the moment (hybrid), and like always with their portable gaming machines, they are very successful in this area. Things can change in the video game business quite rapidly and Nintendo is prepared for when this happens in the nearby future. If you want more info about this, send me an email. I think apple is going to release some quality graphically intense games for the iPad in the Apple Arcade, but they are probably still in development. I own the iPad M2 12.9 and game on it as well, but also use it for doing university work, listening to music, entertainment, etc. I've owned all the new consoles but sold them because I really see consoles on the down fall as of right now. Apple knows what they are doing. They are not wasting any time, money, or resources to develop a port to every game that didn't even make much money when it dropped on console in comparison to other games that are on console. Hence why iPad/Mobile concentrated on creating the most popular games that consumers play and make the most money which includes: Call of Duty WarZone Mobile, PUBG Mobile, COD Mobile, NBA 2K, etc. I think Apple Arcade's intention was to compete with the Switch at first, but remember graphically intense games can take years to develop so apple definitely has something up their sleeves.

With m2 chip and Rosetta translation for the arm64, I don’t see much reason for apple to not start selling mac games on the iPad. It’s purely idiotic and objectively a stupid move for the product management team if they fail to benefit from the large number of ipad users.

Written May 31, 2023 The iPad actually does have some iPad only games that iPhones or android can’t get like Divinity Original Sins 2 2)War Mongrels and the upcoming No Mans Sky. The downside is that only the M chip iPads can play War Mongrels and Reportedly No Man’s Sky as those games need a minimum of 8gb ram to play on pc and they aren’t in my opinion too demanding as modern isometric tactical games but it’s nice Apple is finally taking gaming kinda seriously since 2021 5 days before the iPad Pro M1 release that year by giving ipad exclusive modern games to make it different from the iPhone as every year since 2021 with Divinity Original Sins 2, it seems like Apple is bringing a new M chip AAA game to iPad Now if this tread continues for the M chips for the remaining 7 years in this 2020 decade, I want Until Dawn on iPad, Batman Arkham City, FF13, Tomb Raider 2013 or RR Village

Even 16" M1 MacBook speakers are not ideal. Best in class- yes(better than M2 pro 16" - Yes) but not ideal. Yes, they did a great job calculating resonance frequencies for echo chambers and on but that size is _physically_ unable to produce a punch in 15-20hz range no matter how amazing engineers you get. It can resonate to some of the frequencies but it cannot give them out direct and clear. Even if amazing for laptop of the size it is very far from what good headphones can give you. For sure you don't want really good broad-range speakers in your home - it is enjoyable experience but your neighbors will probably sue you because of how low-frequency waves are spreading around. So despite of wide range things you can purchase your real choice has a big chance to be limited. Here is when it comes to knowledge of goods. AirPods Max are great but they do have a huge pit in the bass range. You can compensate it with VST plugins like RootOne but without compensation they will sound dull on many types of music. There are open headphones like DT990Pro - while they are ON PAPER supported by macbooks you should not expect them to sound great unless you have an external DAC. So using Apple products can seem good for some people there are limitations that are hiding below of visible surface.

It will probably take 2 years at least for the ipad to start porting PC games into it. So far at least, resident evil Village and 4, death stranding, ex astris, are possible. All other games are just not that worth it, like gatcha games.

We are now getting really next level games on mobile, like Wuthering Waves is making noise. Honkai Star Rail,just dropped . We are also getting warzone, valorent, battlefield and so many more. The technology is here, we just waiting on the games now which we have gotten a few great ones like genshin impact , punishing gray Raven, fornite and codm
