Day 10: Budapest- Lake Bled, Slovenia:The excitement today was palpable with us getting our hands at the self-drive after being on our feet and using public transport for the last 10-11 days. The first 3 cities of our trip did not warrant the use of a car and are best explored on foot for what jewels in the nooks and corners you may encounter is what the excitement is about.
It was a very smooth process with the car rental company and off we went on our first run of the road trip to Slovenia.
It was a beautiful journey, rather beautifully monotonous till we entered the Lake Bled municipality and were immediately transported to an alpine village, the ones synonymous with pristine Swiss villages that I had till now only seen on the silver screen. The final few kilometers to our hotel were spent gawking at the jaw dropping villages en route, not knowing that we will be staying in one 😊
More surprise awaited as we got to our hotel and witnessed the Lake Bled views from our balcony on one side and the Bled castle atop the hill on the other side. The entire town is settled around the lake and yet the surroundings were so peaceful.
Stepped out immediately to get to the Bled castle to take in the beauty of this wonder from top and also to satiate my sugar craving by enjoying the famous Bled cake at the castle café with some more jaw dropping views. It was one of the quietest moments of our trip till now for we were so mesmerized with the place.
Came back for a stroll on the lake promenade and some more views only to fill our hearts and soul with such gorgeous beauty.
Slept off to the ringing of the nearby church bells and the sound of nothingness, with an equal eagerness to catch the first light around the lake the next morning.
