9:18 When I went to Fosen folkehøgskole on the sailing line we sailed with traditional Norwegian fishing vessel, from the 1800s but based on a design from the viking age, a Åfjordsbåt, from Rissa in Trøndelag to that viking age museum in Lofoten and back. And we sailed a recreated viking ship (not sure about the exact word). Was one of the best experiences in my life. I'm not sure how to best translate "folkehøyskole", as there's not a exact equivalent in the English speaking world, although the direct translation of the individual elements is "folk high school".

@@niannecjs It was. :-) At least on the way north. On the way south the wind direction in the weather forecast was predicted to be unfavorable, so we had to rush south ahead of bad weather and poor sailing conditions (especially wind direction). Sailing 4 hours on duty and 4 hours off 24/7 till the day before we came to Trondheim from Lofoten, if we didn't we'd end up stuck for at least a week, possibly two before we'd be able to sail on due to the wind direction. The night between the 15th and 16th of May I was off duty and was woken by the "høvedsmann" (different tradition from captains, unlike captains in continental tradition that's basically kings onboard and ultimate authority a høvedsmann is first among equals and holds the position due to experience and respect). Anyway, between the 15th and 16th the høvedsmann woke me and my shift up saying that she was sorry to wake us up but that we had to wake the hell up or we might capsize (or something to that effect). We had to haul sail, tack twice and then seek emergency harbor in a village on a island outside the Trondheimsfjorden somewhere. We didn't have a engine onboard, navigating with a compass and seamaps. Thankfully the bad weather hit us somewhere that we had relatively new seamaps for, as we had to navigate by lighthouses and stuff during the night. And the lights where different from the maps sometimes on the older maps we had used further north. (Good accurate seamaps are expensive). So we where lucky there. Once there we dropped anchor and had to use a small rowing boat onboard to get someone onshore. It was really scary to be honest. But the locals where really kind, making vegetable soup for us. (I'm vegetarian) Then we slept, and the next day we sailed to Trondheim for the 17th of May celebrations. :-) We where exhausted. The trip north towards Lofoten was magical though, we saw so many animals (we didn't make any more noises then the water itself in our boat so we didn't scare them unless we where *really* close by. The weather was amazing and perfect for sailing up north, we came close to beating the previous record. :-) I loved it. ^^

9:54 Are you interested in traditional instruments, dance and music?

Yes! Although it's usually not the type of music I listen to on a daily basis, I do find it intriguing

Jeez, Hamsun... We have... Mixed... Feelings about him... His relationship with Hitler was a bit too close at times to put it that way... That said, that doesn't invalidate his work. Just... It's complicated...

Yes, I totally agree! His work seems very interesting and I'd like to read some of his books. But his personal life regarding the nazi's is not something I'm really fond of lol
