I had sardines for the very first time in my life about three weeks ago. All because I too fell down the Mathew Carlson rabbit hole. He just popped up on my feed one day. He made sardines look so enticing. I've even ordered from Dan! I found your channel through Matthew. I'm watching dudes eat dines and I like it. Kicking myself for not being brave enough to try them sooner. BTW I saw the video where you were Matthew. I swear I couldn't stop giggling. So on point. 😂 The edits, the script, the costume 🗣️🤌🏽! So good.
I've eaten sardines pretty regular since the 50's. But as of 2020 I've almost become obsessed with trying different brands and sauces. There is something strange going on. P.S., yes, Matthew Carlson does a great job. He's definitely going places.
@@abelq8008 As far as hobbies go it's pretty fun and accessible. Sardines and canned fish in general are usually pretty affordable, and if you have a decent selection of international grocery stores around there's all kinds of variety to choose from.

I stumbled upon your and Matthew’s videos in the last few days. Since then I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole thanks to you guys. I’ve picked up some kipper snacks, some smoked mussels, smoke trout and on my next trip to the store I’ll pick up some dines and anchovies. It’s like you said about Matthew…it’s cool watching a fish review but the main hook to keep watching is you’se guy’s personality and interesting editing/production styles. And it’s wild how different he is in videos from a year ago to now while still seeming to be the genuine article. Keep up the great work!

I too have fallen into the Matthew Carlson rabbit hole. Now I find myself searching for sardines online that I can’t find locally. I’ve always been a canned fish fan and he makes it seem like something legit. This is a great video. You’ve explained the appeal wonderfully.
That was a very precise analysis of Carlsons channel. He does put a lot of effort and time in his videos. He even makes his own music. I'm sure he appreciates your critique of his channel.

This is a great video SlowJ. I subscribed to Matthew first but found your channel through his. I like how you have transformed your content after being inspired by Matthew. After watching the both of you for a week or so now you helped me realize something in my own business; always do your best for something you are passionate about.
Matthew did the same for me. I didn't eat sardines before I started watching him either and now I am searching stores and online for sardines ... then he turned me on to your videos (I have watched all of his) and I am now watching your reviews.
You know whats weird to me? So i saw that youtube video on the process of canning sardines in Portugal. Once i saw that thumbnail i thought to myself, “those sardines actually look pretty good”. So i watched that whole video and i was intrigued and suddenly started to crave me a can lol. Btw i’ve never had sardines before. Anyways i started searching for more videos on the different brands that are available. Funny thing is, i had the same thought process you did and i also asked myself “am i a sardine guy now?” 😂😂 had to laugh
Try pouring the spiced portuguese sardine oil over rice while you eat the sardines. It makes for a nice condiment for the rice especially with just a tiny splash of good soy sauce.

Born and raised in New England, my grandparents used to serve sardines as an appetizer at the holidays and I'd eat them as a kid. Then I probably went 30 years before trying them again, and now here I am watching you and MC on RU-vid and completely stocking my cupboards with cans of 'dines. Thank you so much!

Sardines are good in ramen noodles. I'm eating King Oscar with Jallapinos in Nissin Ramen right now. Spam is another hobby type food. They use the heads and assorted other body parts in Fish meal, fertilizer and animal feed.
Coming from a fellow fish lover from New England... Ain't nuthin wrong with that. I've loved Sardines for many years. Give King Oscar brand a try, those are my go-to brand. Spanish style is my fav.. DeenZ for life!

Considering Carlson mentions you are his favorite sardines channel, was not expecting Jabroni to have picked up sardines from him. Clearly he has an affect on people; started getting into sardines because of him just popping up in my feed too.
He cracks me up. This guy is funny. Addictive personality? Maybe but keep doing your thing. One of my favs so far are the ones you you chose from Portugal. I like the calmness of your vids too. Synth pop balads video inserts, quiet, not too disturbing. I can do without anyone's swallowing sounds though, nothing personal. @@SlowJabroni It is in my blood. My mom (who is 92 by the way) told me that my grandad very often used to eat canned sardines with bread and butter for his tea. We are talking about the 1930's to 1960's. He was a great lover of all seafood and used to eat mussels pan fried with bacon.
@@SlowJabroni Just realised, I am English and you probably are not familiar with the term tea for a meal. It is what the working class people in Britain used to call their evening meal. Dinner was what they had in what is now called lunchtime.
My Dad fed me sardines and crackers as a kid, Mom said “no thanks” it was a father/son bonding experience and a Man food. Not until I was in my mid 30’s did I realize how nutritious and protein dense Sardines are, now I’m back at it and trying to regularly consume these little guys, even ventured into canned oysters - #omega3 - I now use chop sticks thanks to Matthew 🥢🐟
