Thank you for honoring the history (and beauty) of Estonia! Although I live in the US, I am Estonian by birth, and thoroughly enjoy watching your travels and experiences in my native country. Looking forward to your next Estonian adventure!
Estonia indeed is very chill. Probably only one of the few places in the world where you can just casually walk up to the president and shake their hand. :D
Sure. I am estonian, 50 years old, lived all the time in estona. Never seen any minister or president in person. Surely everyone just randomly meets top politicians everywhere every day.
@@andrejogi1393 haha, for me living in the uk, you certainly may see the prime minister from a distance but you wouldn’t even be able to get anywhere near him! Same goes with all the top politicians!’
I must say it is so refreshing to see a video by someone from UK who just goes along with the flow, makes much of meeting the president, enjoys the ambience. In other words a normal conteporary person, who doesn't obsess over Estonia's soviet legacy (this is the closest I will ever get to Russia!). I hope you had the time of your life here. You certainly deserve it.
Thankyou! I love Estonia! One of my favourite countries! Haha yeah I got told that meeting the president wasn’t that big of a deal, but it was for me 😂 Estonia is such an amazing country and I can’t wait to go back!
@@CiaranTravels very sweet of you to say such kind things about Estonia. Mr. Karis is indeed very accessible, although I dont know him personally. I do, however, know his wife Mrs. Sirje Karis quite well, as she used to be my boss.
When I first saw this video I thought your channel would've had hundreds of thousands of subscribers. The quality of this video is very good, I hope you find success on youtube
Yeah...you expect something, but The truth is that an account of estonians is about 800 000around the globe... Can't wish that everyone are "killing it softly".
Great Travel Vlog, CJ! 😊 thanks for sharing your appreciation of Estonian culture! So are you going to be the UK ambassador to Estonia now that your BFF is the President of Estonia? What a moment! And the Viking History segment is great too!
@@CiaranTravels I chat and play volley all with the minister(now former) every Jaanipäev. It is common to know some hight tier person or celebrity or superstar for an Estonian. (I have all these types in my family and several good friends as top mucicians and supermodels.)
Victory day is a day when estonian forces beat german landesvehr forces in battle of Cesis 1919. Because of winning that battle estonians continued to push germans out of Latvia and then estonians captured Riga and after winning war of idepednence estonia made Latvia free.
Beautiful video! Thank you. We are visiting Europe after helping a new school open in Lviv. Slava Ukraine! We're in Krakow, also amazing. We will stay in Tallinn for February, hopefully longer after my Digital Nomad Visa application interview on Feb 1st....Tartu looks amazing, too! I hope we can stay in Estonia until summer!
There is still jumping over bonfires but not those public ones and i think it is getting less year by year. Actually what you did not see but is going on in Estonia are the Family bonfires where close relatives come together and have the best own cooked food and drinks and a lot of bonding and talking to your relatives that you have not seen for a long time. For example my family came together each year and we had my grandmom and her sister and all their children and their children + some more relatives etc. And these fires are smaller but still burning until the early morning. Sadly as the older generation dies the traditions also die often. Miss my family Jaanituli.
Haha yes I know! I did experience that with family bonfires don’t you worry! That sounds lovely! Yes it’s a shame that traditions aren’t carried on through generations
If it's hard to pronounce "ä" then just think of the word cat and just remove the c and t Idk I am trying to help :'( It's easy if you use it every day like I do in Estonia cause I live there 😊❤ Also this is underrated 😢❤
Ciaran - maru kasulik on kohalike käest küsida kohanimede hääldust ;) Ainukesena oled Sa seni suutnud eestlase jaoks arusaadavalt hääldada nime Viljandi :)
