EXPERIMENT: Sport-Fishing for FOOD! | Eating Only Wild for 365 DAYS

We pursue catch and possession limits for bass, pike, catfish, and brook trout to keep food on the table for Jeremy who is on a year long survival challenge to only eat wild foods.
One Wildcrafter: ru-vid.com/show-UCy7HUXYD7Ua6zPR384d1ETg
Adam Craig: ru-vid.com/show-UCuZwrIkADWzF-2CMmoRScZw
We start out adventure by catching, cleaning and cooking a wild raccoon over an open fire at the shores of a secret back bass lake in the wilderness. We then set off and catch as many bass as possible using a meps spinner tipped with a live night-crawler. Jeremy is actually able to catch a small brook trout from a lake I thought didn't hold them anymore.
We then travel to another lake which holds catfish and set up our lines for a night fish. The next day we set off to a pike lake down an old logging road but soon discover that the day isn't going to go as planned. We get a flat tire and spend a couple hours changing it. Then after we start driving again, the tire actually falls off again! Eventually we make it to the lake and catch a bunch of pike.
Later that night we head back again for catfish for the evening.
The final day brings us to a brook trout creek where we spend some time with Adam Craig. Some slogging and bug bites later get us into some nice little brook trout.

I'm subbed to both wooded beardsman and one wildcrafter. How do we get to send Jeremy food gifts for his one wild year or big wild year? I'm thinking of getting some nice trout at the Lyndon fishery(thanks for the mention) and sending him some trout I'm guessing he'd like it whole and not sure if he wants it cleaned or not.

that horns probably 20 years old. try leeches next time you go catfishing just as its getting dark, won't be disappointed. I was expecting you to fix the tear in tire with pine pitch, birch bark, fish scales and catfish barbs. ohhhh snap the tire. take a nut from each other tire. not ideal but will work to get you out, never mind you though of it lol. That's a beauty pike man, Jeremy's gonna eat good off that one, make it two of them. That's a good haul for a few days of fishing, good work lads

When I was younger my friends and I used to go way up north to Port Loring Ontario. We would portage way back into the bush on crown land to live off the land for a few weeks. Catching our meals..mainly fish and forest chicken (grouse). We still brought some safety foods like granola bars and nuts and stuff like fish batter to cook fish in to make them more palatable. We ate a lot of smallmouth, but by far pickerel we’re the real goal along with pike which is surprisingly good when cooked right. Catfish are good too. We would camp way back in the bush where nobody would be for miles. No cottages on the lake we stayed at...truly remote. We would always let the forest ranger for the region know we were going back in to one of the lakes, and one or two days during our trip the ranger flew his pontoon plane down for a close look at us to make sure we were ok back there, which was quite comforting knowing someone cared enough to check up on us. Anyways, we would have to swim in the lake daily to wash and clean ourselves. Well I guess one of my friends must have taken a mouthful of wonky lake water because after the trip he had the worst diarrhea for weeks until they discovered he got a parasite that is apparently super rare to get. The parasite is mainly transmitted by beaver fecal matter in places that have still water. The lake we were at was in a valley so the water may not have had as much movement from the wind as most other lakes get. Anyways, they cured him and he had doctors calling him from all over America asking him questions about his ailment as it truly is rare apparently. It’s called “Beaver Fever”. There is a scientific name for it also, but that’s the name everyone uses. When people do contract Beaver Fever it’s usually from drinking creek water or lake water that is contaminated by nearby beavers. It’s slightly more common to get if you are in the Rocky Mountains up in Colorado where there are apparently a lot of beavers. People brave enough to drink the creek or river water there contract it occasionally also. Moral of my story: you don’t need to be in the Amazon jungle drinking from a creek or river to contract parasites! You can get nasty ones here in Canada or the USA! Remember: treat your drinking and cooking water folks! The potentially life threatening diarrhea and other side effects can kill you, especially if you are remote.

@@TheWoodedBeardsman IT AMAZES ME what huge celebs can get away with on their so called "music" videos but hard working creators get demo'd for the same content! please continue to make these great videos as long as it is fun for you and somewhat profitable! I’ve had great luck catching raccoon possum and woodchucks with the cheapest cat food in a shiny tin can, (raccoons love shiny things) put leftover eggshells, bacon grease, any table scraps. I throw out a little cat food 20-30 feet away from the front of the trap in a fan shape. On another note, I tend to skip the ads, does that hurt your income? If it does, I’ll start letting them play out

Modern Humans have evolved to rely on each other as well as mass produced foods. Just look at how we have changed in the last 100years. Soldiers in WW1 averaged 5’4 - 5’6” and 135lbs. “Modern” adults males are closer to 6’ and 200lbs. The majority of that change is food and resource related.

Your vids are awesome. I've learned a lot from you two especially about wild edibles I didn't know I could eat. I tried milkweed last summer and it actually wasnt too bad. It's good with cattails and wild walnuts. Anyway keep up the good work, you guys rock

Wow, that was a true adventure for so few fish. I think Jeremy needs a Mad Max style brush guard.😎 I’ve fallen behind in my viewing due to numerous summer tasks here at the family farm, but I will definitely try to watch more in the evenings. The whole demonetization issue getting way out of hand for creators. I enjoy your channel, especially the ones teaching the processing of fish and game. Keep up the good work.

I really liked this video not sure why Jeremy has so few subscribers... Maybe more mischief and adventures in them would help also everyone likes a good collaboration which is why we all like the videos with you both

You need to start making 100,000 bird box houses and poles for swallow houses and purple martin mansions. Plant them along the waterways, so they take down all the bugs.
