@@ookazi1000 yeah technically, but in that case, the storyteller can just break the rules of "good wins when the storyteller is executed," and that's bullshit. There are certain fundamental rules that should never be broken

Storyteller execution ends the game anyway. Evil wins if it's not an atheist game, good wins otherwise - goblin ability wouldn't make a difference.

There is a jinx on what happens when the plague doctor gives the storyteller the goblin ability. Yes, technically the storyteller can break game rules, but I don’t think that applies to jinxes (ie, the story teller can’t “break game rules” and put a demon and a sober atheist in the same game.

Twin jinx idea: if you have two storytellers, one becomes an Evil Storyteller and one becomes a Good Storyteller.

If you do that, then you can use it this way. They announce that they have gotten the Twin ability to town and now one of them will only give out correct information and the other will only give out misinformation, but they won't tell the town which is which and they can alternate between who's giving out the information or perhaps flip a coin for it each time. If there's only one storyteller they get multiple personalities, then they can simply flip the coin to see if it's correct information or misinformation they are handing out.

I'm a fan of still running "evil twin" pick 2 player and tell the plague doctor they are the evil twins. One turns evil and must be killed before end of game.

I went to the wiki to look at the plague doctor's list of jinxes, only to discover, yet again that the wiki doesn't list jinxes on the roles pages. I think it'd be a good idea to have a list of suggested jinxes on each role's page, maybe near the bottom, just so that information is available on the role's page instead of needing to go and look at the Djinn's page.

I got to play in a couple of plague doctor games on release day. It was absolute madness. I pointed out to the storyteller that if you put a barber on script, you can swap the plague doctor once they're dead and kill them again to give the storyteller a second ability.

You can't actually, once the Plague Doctor gets Barber swapped, it becomes a new instance of that ability, meaning the ST loses the previously obtained Minion ability

May I suggest for the Evil Twin jinx: "If the storyteller would gain the Evil Twin's ability, they instead tell a good player that they are the Good Twin: if that player is executed, their team loses." This replaces the ability with one that is functionally the same but does not make it impossible for good to win.

Actually, it's probably better to phrase it as "The Storyteller registers as evil and dead to the Evil Twin's ability. (Good still loses if the Storyteller's twin is executed.)" ...to be fair, the storyteller registers as dead anyway.

Oh hey its the reveal stream! Also for those asking, the staging server was having issues and every time Ben tried giving us our roles, it just didnt, so thats why Ben and Jams went around telling people their roles.

aw 'in addition to their own' on the goblin. and here i was wanting to put a PD in the atheist game, so the st could claim the PD gave them the goblin

The storyteller can still claim goblin. It won't be true, but they can claim it. Remember, the storyteller wants the players to win atheist games.

In order to reduce the required number of jinxes, maybe you should rephrase the plague doctor's ability to: "A minion gains an additional not in play minion ability. If that ability would make any decisions, the choices are arbitrary"

It does feel like it needs some kind of second pass in the design room tbh, because as-is it's like every minion has its own specific rule for the Plague Doctor so its more like "The ST gains a not in play Minion ability... except that one. Not that one either. Nope, not that one. Not that one but a different minion does! Nah that one just acts like the Plague Doctor was the minion actually..." which is really weird and makes it feel rushed tbh

@@Dragonatrix It's not that bad imo. Boomdandy is the only one that sticks out to me since it should work just like the other passive abilities (SW, goblin) where another minion would get that ability in addition to their regular one.

Awesome! Idea for a positive twin jinx: a minion immediately (i the night) selects a player. If that player is good, the minion gains the twin ability in addition to their regular ability, and the selected player is designated as the good twin. (the good twin learns that they are the good twin, but neither learns the other player’s role)

Maybe I’m confused here, but would a lycanthrope holding the baby register as the demon to the soldier’s ability, making the soldier safe from the demon lycanthrope? Or did it not matter in this specific game because the storytellers decided to take the baby off of lycanthrope after dusk?

I think the answer is that Lycan attacked using their own ability. The Lil Monsta token doesn’t hamper the Lycan ability.

Exactly!! I was thinking that because the Soldier is safe from all of a demon's abilities (like Pukka's poisoning). So while the Lycanthrope IS the demon, Soildier would be safe from its Lycanthrope ability. You could arguably rule it either way but I wanted to at least see the discussion.

Just today I ran a game with the plague doctor. They died causing final 3 when the only possible ability would be the scarlet woman which would be useless in addition to all the minions being dead

How does a scarlet woman interact with vigormortis? If the vigor kills the SW, and they keep the ability, what happens when the vigor dies? Does the SW get revived? Probably not. Do they need to be executed a second time, like killing the zombul twice?

If the Vigormortis kills the Scarlet Woman, the Scarlet Woman retains her ability. If the Vigormortis then dies with 5 or more players remaining, the Scarlet Woman then becomes the new Vigormortis. The new Vigormortis is dead, so the game ends.

Wonderful chaos. Hindsight is 20/20, but: it seems like Evil would have been better served if the STs, instead of giving themselves the Witch ability, had given Milk the Goblin ability or created a Marionette.

In a situation like this where the lycanthrope has lil monsta, wouldn't they be unable to kill themselves anyway because they register as the demon to their own ability? Or do they only register as the demon but not as evil?

If the demon who also has the Goblin ability claims Goblin and is executed, they both win and lose, and Good wins the tie. So they can still have the ability, it just won’t affect the outcome.

So if you have the Goblin, the Plague Doctor, and the Atheist on a script. It would be possible for the Doctor to die, gain the Goblin ability, and for town to execute the ST, who can claim goblin, letting the ST win?

Scarlet Woman idea: if storyteller became the scarlet woman and the demon dies, storyteller becomes the demon and must be executed for good to win (in a similar way to an athiest game but they wouldnt lose if they execute the storyteller wrongly)

I am confused about the lil monsta being babsat by a townsfolk. Like yea its funny and cool, but the description on the website says that lil minsta is babysat by a minion. I’d rather it work that way, though, for the cinematic value

Minions decide who babysits, they don’t have to hold it themselves, they can give it to a good player. Generally they babysit the LM because they don’t wanna out that it’s a LM game and also lose, but shenanigans can and will happen with a Scarlet Woman.

No one will read this but I thought it might be interesting Minion idea: the Grave Robber +1 Undertaker Once per game when evil dies you can exchange roles and the undertaker sees them as a not in play townsfolk drunk also registers as townsfolk on death, if no drunks are in game one dead townsfolk might register as a drunk to the undertaker Minion Idea: Informant At night you can point at up to three things that will then be shown to the Demon A player, a role, a token of kill or don't kill. (you cna freely combine those example: kill, kill, kill or Player A, Seamstress, Soldier or Player B, Mayor) If you are executed, you and the demon learn what role the player has that nominated you.

No. Same as the Philosopher or the Cannibal - they ARE the Philosopher/Cannibal/Minion 1, but they have the ability of the choice/executee/Minion 2.

WHat happens if the Pit Hag turns a good player into a Marionette? I know it normally doesn't change someone's alignment, but the Marionette explicitly reads, "You think you are a good character, but you are not." So does that mean, by his role's power, he has become evil? Unlike most Pit Hag change-ups, which leave alignment intact?

@@celestialTangle I didn't wonder in so far the interaction with the Plague Doctor is concerned. What made me curious about this is because the wording of Lil Monsta doesn't care what role the one who babysits it is. The only thing the minions have to agree on is who as far as the wording is concerned. Thus, my question about whether the storyteller is a valid babysitter.

New character idea: Immolater (Good). At night, choose a player, they are safe from the Demon, however if the Demon chooses them, you die instead.

A pit-hagged Lil' Monsta should be run like any other demon would be; when created, there are now two demons. No reason the demon or anyone else should change, instead the ST should kill the old demon and let the two minions decide who to give the baby.

Writing this at 05:52 I immediately hate this character. Like the atheist I don't like the storyteller becoming a part of the game influencing the game outcome so heavy handidly. I'll watch this playout and edit the comment if my view changes, but it's not an immediate love.

@@MalakaiSilverWolf True I rewrote it a few times and couldn't find the right wording for what I meant. I like the ST being a purely DM type role, rather than becoming a part of the in-game explanation for outcomes and lore. Don't know if that makes sense or not?

@olly5255 it fits with the theme of outsiders being unhelpful to the town, but also, there's nothing saying the storyteller will only use a minion ability on good players. They will use it to balance the game as with everything they do. This effectively gives the storyteller an extra balance ability, which is super interesting. It's not like the atheist where it puts them in a direct adversarial role with the town.

I feel like the opposite : The storyteller being able to balance the game is a good thing. Otherwise half of the games will have one team completly dominate and it won’t be as fun

the ST is not just there to give roles and ask people what they want to do, they need to actively be balancing the game and the flow of info. evil team relies on an ST to backup their bluffs!! an extra minion ability (of which the vast majority get placed in another player’s hands anyway!) is really just another tool to provide misinfo (and at the end of the day, if you really don’t like a role you can just not play scripts that have it)
