You can hear Jams going full "oh" when she realized she just nuked the evil team.

So, basically, if Riot is on the script, the entire good team needs to identify all of their teammates by nom time on day three. I can't wait to play this IRL.

Thank you Ben and the rest of the crew for such entertaining content all the time. Came here long ago from NRB and just love getting more and more BOTC content from this group of people. Ben, I have learned so much from your informative breakdowns of your decisions and story telling as well as your player perspective stuff. Can't thank you enough!

When I saw Riot on the Kickstarter page originally, I knew it was going to be an exciting Demon. Actually seeing it in practice makes me even more excited for it. Pure panicked decisions. I love that it has a deadline like Leviathan, too.

If you sort of cross your eyes and blur your vision, the riot symbol above the imp symbol on the script looks like a little flower together :)

Watching through these archives and I'm happily surprised to see Jan here! I was(/am but less so these days) a long time Super Mafia All-Stars viewer, so it's nice to see a more familiar face in the game.

So riot reads "After day 3, evil wins." Does that mean if you were pit hag and made a riot on day 4, you'd just win?
@altrivotzck6565
@altrivotzck6565 Год назад
No, because the Pit-hag and Riot are jinxed with this exact situation in mind. You can look up any jinxes on the djinn page of the wiki, or in the discord (and this specific jinx was also mentioned in the video), but the jinx is "If the Pit-hag creates Riot, all *evil* *players* become riot. *if* *the* *Pit-Hag* *creates* *Riot* *after* *day* *3* , *the* *game* *continues* *for* *one* *more* *day* "

They seemed so close to getting the bad guys, I think Gambler's casual 'I would like to see chris and ekin dead" unduly influenced the choices instead of the players that had been at least partially caught out in bad claims/behavior, nadine and patters, oh well
@Ellie-rx3jt
@Ellie-rx3jt Год назад
Yeah Gambling seemed to interpret "yes" to one or more of four people being evil to mean that they should kill all four. Which is not an ideal strategy when you're potentially (and in this case actually) killing one third of the good team. If he'd limited his artist question to two or three people the potential ratio of good team kills would have been a lot better, while still potentially giving them five/six of the nine good team (since they already knew three) if he'd got a no.

Ok, quick question, just because of some wording; Edd said “all evil characters” would turn. Does that include a goon, a cult leader, a character who has said the mezepheles word, etc?
@EtoileLion
@EtoileLion 2 года назад
The wording on the ability is that "All Minions are Riot". The Goon is an Outsider, whether evil or good, so as-written i wouldnt think they would turn....
@tammyboy2084

@@EtoileLion yeah, I only asked because of what Edd said when they were talking about the pit hag creating a riot. It felt a little vague.
@comp.lex4
@comp.lex4 2 года назад
From my understanding, "Evil Characters" generally means minions and demons as characters, regardless of their alignment. Otherwise, the Cerenovus could choose any character, since it would always be a good player receiving it
@EtoileLion
@EtoileLion 2 года назад
@@comp.lex4 A Traveller would then be a question mark, would it not? I think its better stated as Minions, or Minions and Demons. My real question is what happens if for some gods-bewoe reason a Pit Hag turns a townsfolk into a Riot. As-written, it would turn the Minions into Riot, but the original Demon would still be lurking as their original self...
@maizen1335
@maizen1335 2 года назад
@@EtoileLion The townsfolk, all the minions, and the demon would become riot. Evil players become riot because of the pit hag jinx, not the set up text. It's the same reason a pit hag making a baron doesn't add extra outsiders, which is why the jinx is needed in the first place

Idea I randomly had for an outsider The Mad Genius: Every night you see the grimoire. You are mad* about a role. If you are not mad, the opposing team wins * They have to pretend they are that role as if it were their own, not that they must constantly insist that's their role at every possible opportunity. If they'd normally be cagey about being the role like saint or poppy grower, it's fine if they're cagey, if they want to do a three for three instead of hard claiming that's fine, but saying like "I'm the empath, I got a one, I know for sure you're telling the truth about being x" wouldn't be okay unless they can actually justify why they'd know that person is telling the truth about their role. Also, if they talked to a lot of people and then accused someone of being evil because of information that they were not told but could have come from a role, I think I'd be fine with it, but that's definitely storyteller's choice I said opposing team just so if a mezepheles converts them, they can't instantly win the next day
@diamondsky3787

most BOTC characters that have an instant lose condition use the phrase: "your team loses" instead of "the opposing team wins"

Ive played and STed a lot of games. Unfortunately a good player seeing the grim and therefore immediately knowing who the demon is is too powerful. They could just nominate the demon and probably convince the town even when mad as something else (most experienced players would also work out which role they are when they are mad about being various characters). Plus as soon as this outsider is dead they do not have to be mad anymore so can speak freely about what they know.

I just need to know how to add jinxes to a script…
@BloodontheClocktower
@BloodontheClocktower 2 года назад
Hey William, if two roles are jinxed then the script tool flags those jinxes automatically. There will be a small icon under one of the jinxed roles, showing the role it's jinxed with, and the full jinx will be listed on the night sheet. Hovering the mouse over the jinxed role in the browser will show the jinx in a tool tip. - Evin

How come a good player (Eevee) died in the first night, in the first game? Do correct juggles kill?
@GrimlanderMG
@GrimlanderMG 2 года назад
It's part of the Pit Hag ability. When a demon is created by the Pit Hag, kills that night are arbitrary. The storytellers choose them, based on the situation. If that wasn't there, the Pit Hag could turn themselves or another minion into a demon and there would be two kills straight away. Or 4 with certain demons, which is game-ending.

Riot reads that they win 'after day 3'. If Riot counts from day one, couldn't a Pit Hag force an evil win night 3 by creating a Riot since, at that moment it is "After Day 3"? Seems like a moderately coordinated evil team can work to stall for three days then just push the "I win" button with a Pit Hag night 3. Edit: I'm counting the first night as "night zero" for the purposes of numbering the nights since it's more like a 'set up' night and the storytellers are 'dead'.

can i have a suggestion for a outsider. "town lookout"+1 outsider, power: see witch other outsiders are in play outsiders win if they outnumber townsfolk when the demon is killed. e.g: town lookout learns lunatic at the start of the game, the lunatic dies and the demon is dead but alive outsiders do not outnumber townsfolk so townsfolk win. example 2; town lookout learns drunk and goon, at the end of the game the 3 outsiders are alive when the demon dies the outsiders outnumber townsfolk so outsider's win
@MILOEBA
@MILOEBA 11 месяцев назад
but outsiders and townsfolk are one in the same? theyre both good, theyre not trying to battle against each other. townsfolk are goodies with helpful abilities, and outsiders are goodies with detremental/problematic abilities. if outsiders win, so do townsfolk
@josephjoestar3631
@josephjoestar3631 8 месяцев назад
On top of that, the demon would have to play very poorly and die on day 1 or 2 to have a situation where it matters that the townsfolk or outsiders outnumber each other. In most games and situations, you make it to a final 3. One demon, own townsfolk, one minion. One demon, one outsider, one townsfolk. This is standard play. This character needs to be redesigned

I didn't particularly enjoy these two games. Although generally fun to watch, the Riot seemingly does not really reward good play quite as much as other demon configurations. I mean in the second game the good players were nerfed quite heavily and we saw what happened, basically any shenanigans are immediately punished which leads to very constricted gameplay. The first game was marred by the storyteller not paying attention and not hearing that the move that probably would have won the game was actually played. If it had gone down as it should have it would again have been a game where it's just punishing shenanigans for the win. I feel having Riot on the script as an option is not a bad thing per se, but it has a similar world-bending role as Vortox and Vortox seems much more interesting and leaves many more roles as viable.
