Hello, welcome to my new worldbuilding channel! I'm currently working on sorting through my old worldbuilding videos and re-uploading them here. In this video, I attempted to make my Nautikan clothing designs, to see if they could function in real life. For the expanded portion, I went though comments and added a few final details before we close the chapter on the Nautikans for a while.

This isn't really clothing related but re: talk of the nautikans kiddos shedding their tails the only thing I can think of is it being comparative to human kids teething. I just envision them being kinda grumpy during the process xD

Salmons can't really adapt. They hatch in a river and their physiology changes as they go to the sea. After that, they are salt water fish. When they swim up river to lay eggs, they die. Because there is not enough salt in the water, they swell up, their colors fade, etc.

So I'm anosmic, meaning I can't smell, and basically the way it works is I can taste basic flavors like sweet, sour, salty, savory, bitter, etc. but I don't really have a concept like "oaky". Instead what gives food nuance is both the combination of those basic flavors and it's texture. I enjoy bread not only because of the sweetness of the sugar and the savory taste of the yeast but also because of the fluffy, spongey texture of it. Texture is very important. This is also likely emphasized because of my autism but I know non-autistic anosmic people who also find texture to be important. Ben Cohen made Ben & Jerry's ice cream so chunky for this exact reason. Because ice cream can be kind of boring to an anosmic. It's sweet or chocolaty and cold. Don't get me wrong it's still the food of the Gods but when you add texture to it, it's even better. I imagine blue nauticans would "smell" through their mouths. Basically their pallets would become so sensitive they could taste the scent in the air. Depending on how exaugurated you want to make this, it could range from parody with osmia to very basic things like salinity, moisture, and temperature. Unless something is really, really strong I can only really make out the latter. Like hot air tastes different than cold air and when it rains I can taste the moisture and the salinity from the Great Salt Lake. Although I'll never forget the time I went to comic-con and needed to use the restroom and uh...I'll leave the rest up to you.

Belly buttons isnt too far off. Many of the larger egg laying animals, from fish to monotremes have a yolk in their eggs, acting kind of like an analog to the placenta. Being connected to the embryo in the egg through their belly. You can google chicken or shark embryos and see it clearly. Given the magical admixture of human aspects it could make sense to have an umbilical like structure connecting them, resulting in a belly button. In our world marsupuals are born with a belly button, where they were connected to their "yolk", that heals up and dissapears later.

Hearing the music in the original video, it makes me think of a music culture that uses stomps a lot, as a subtle insistence of “hey!! we have legs!!! we aren’t mermaids!!!!!!!!” and because its harder to stomp underwater, maybe the land Nautikans use stomping in their music more, so it becomes a sign of class in a way.

About the LGBTQ+ question, from the impressions that I got on how Nautikan society groups work, it seems logical to me that the elite/noble Nautikans won't be very tolerant about it, since they want their children to marry high-status people and give 'high-quality' offspring. If an elite Nautikan is lesbian for example, her parents will likely completely ignore it and arrange her marriage to a man. This could open a path for polygamy: LGBTQ-Nautikans are not content with their arranged partner, and will have side-lovers of their desired gender/race. This is actually a lot like medieval Japan, where men were expected to marry women, but since male homosexuality was openly accapted, also had many boyfriends. I would imagine that the lower-class Nautikans, those that spend most of their days working etc, might be way more tolerant to LGBTQ+ people, since they don't really have a status/legacy they want to create or uphold. And if that's the case, worker-Nautikans may actually be very loyal and true to their partners, creating a society with polygamous elites and monogamous workers.
@Some_Siren
@Some_Siren 3 года назад
It would make sense but now I wonder, how would transgender individuals be considered? Because of course there is biology and all that stuff, but there were always trans people throughout history and all around the world and I don't think Nautikans would be an exception. I think it would probably go like the sexuality thing where, as you said, lower classes would be much more tolerant. Since lower classes would be monogamous but live in multi-family units, trans people probably wouldn't be a big deal, as cis family members could continue the bloodline if needed. I can easily picture a trans woman taking care of all the children while their mothers are away, as she would be their blood-sister. I can also see a trans man working with other men in the mines, probably even binding using skin-toned pieces of clothing. For enbies, I don't really have ideas, I think it would mostly depend on the person and their interests, but I don't think it would be a big deal. Maybe they would even be considered important somehow, like in some cultures. These are just rough ideas by the way so excuse me if it wasn't clear
@CrestofPotential
@CrestofPotential 3 года назад
@@Some_Siren What I remember from the earlier videos is that gender identity doesn't present until after the metamorphosis. To that end I think it's likely the culture as a whole would be more likely to be tolerant of trans individuals, especially since the age at which a Nautikan could/would fulfill gender roles would be fairly diverse across the caste system and until that time everyone presents as gender neutral. I don't remember Mariah giving any info on gender roles outside of what's needed for reproduction and now breastfeeding either, so maybe it just doesn't matter. It could be entirely possible that members of the species who are genetically female decide to outwardly present as male for the most part and vice versa, and still have kids. I guess the point I'm making, in a sort of roundabout way, is that I see no reason why this society would have trans exclusion on any level

Polygamy means, generally speaking, one man with multiple wives. If there is only one marriage within a polyamorous relationship, it’s henogamy. I would imagine the elite/noble Nautikans would tolerate bisexuals more than full homosexuals because they could still have children with their arranged partner. It seems logical to me that they won’t be very tolerant of doing this heterosexually (men with one wife plus several side ladyfriends for example) though, since women give birth only once for their whole lives and this ‘wastes’ their chance on a man who has already had children with another woman. I would imagine the worker Nautikans might be way more tolerant to heterosexual henogamy without the same status/legacy to want to create or uphold. If they are also way more tolerant to LGBTO+, the society may actually have a minority of the men accounting for all the next generation of the workers while a majority of the elite/noble men account for the majority of the next generation of the elite/nobility, creating an oligarchy among the workers.

I think it's worth considering the one and done reproduction. Just a short period of relative isolation would be enough to guarantee the brood is from one father. Non-reproductive sexuality wouldn't threaten familial alliances nearly as much as with baseline humans. More rigid Nautican cultures might still have a thing for strict gender-rolls while not caring much who you play with in your free time. Even then they may still recognize more than two genders with rather specific expectations for those.

Suggestion Re: the salt water vs. Frwsh water thing. How about if which a Nautican is able to breathe depends on what kind of water they were suspended in as an egg? So if you lay an egg in salt-water, and leave it there until it hatches, then it hatches into a salt-water breathing nautican, but if you layed the same egg in freshwater, and lwft it there to hatch, then it would become a freshwater nautikan. That would provide a perfect rational for a hard-border on a tiny, crowded island, between upriver nauticans, and coastal nauticans, as intermarriage between the two would result in one parent being completely incapable of caring for their young, with those divisions likely evolving into ethnic groupa over time.

Okay, nevermind, I've watched the rest of the video now, and you've gone in a very different direction with it. Leaving this comment up because this would still be a conceivable explanation as to how Nautikans worked before the blue/yellow divide, with the blue/yellow undertones blood-type distinction developing only after multiple generations of the saltwater/freshwater separation.

I'd imagine the GLBT+ community of the Nautikans would be fairly tight knit and 'passing' to the greater community in the notion that they'd live a outwardly normal life by forming traditional pairings for the simple act of producing offspring with an another couple of the opposite aligning sex (so a gay couple and lesbian couple form a quad of sorts). As a member of the LGBTQ+ community; we tend to be fairly crafty in the way we are forced by society to become resilient, exceptional and blend in as best we can to the folks around us. These Quad's would rear children and otherwise have that tight knit family unit; but forgo maintaining the traditional relationship as they've technically served the greater species goal of maintaining the family lines and now they can enjoy their lives. I imagine the men would still provide as is customary for the family units; though maybe it's the idea of a DINK (Dual Income, No Kids) idea but with kids on the basis of the Quad; maybe the women spend much of the day with the children/doing familial tasks and household chores. Especially given queer culture and how it bucks mainstream societies conventional queries/worries, perhaps there's more or less rigidity in their sub-culture or the presence of drag kings and queens is present (fish typically are know for vibrant colors/mating acts to attract partners) which can help shape these things. I hope this helps with figuring out fringe societies/inspires you. I'd also perhaps look into two-spirited folks of indigenous tribes/cultures as it's one of the few western (most forgotten due to horrible things) where queer/trans indigenous folks were revered for that and given status/unique positions to their tribes as mediators and healers and leaders. I guess my last thing is to remind folks because a lot of the general masses seem to forget this fact (not that it's totally inaccurate given the world these day and it's gotten much better in some areas of the world through much hard work) LGBTQ*+ folks can have happy stories/lives and we do not inherently adapt to the objections of greater society (Queer history has a fairly specific point in which the idea of being Queer became a bad thing and were we began getting erased/written out in fear of future looking down upon folks). I am invested in this journey I unwittingly signed up for upon stumbling upon you and your content. I'm into roleplaying/Dungeons and Dragons and am currently doing a homebrew campaign in which we're doing a fair bit of world building of our own; so this is a fascinating to hear someone else's thoughts, train of thoughts and seeing how they change over time to allow for greater idea expansion and maturity is the word I'll use (to denote the greater thought put into an idea). So thank you for these videos and the hard work you're doing, I look forward more to seeing how this world of yours develops and may the inspiration come to you with ease!

Yay! I was featured! So giddy. Anyhow, while you said you're not considering LGTB+ For the story, given Naughtikens give birth once, they might actually be more tolerant, as long as you do your duty to have your kids. I'm reminded of a story about two soldiers in Iraq: "Homosexuality is illegal, what happens with your gays" "The grow up, get married, have kids, and no one pays attention to the time they spend alone with friends." Given they have birth once, they might view homosexuality only as a problem if you don't do your 'duty' and have kids, like it's been viewed at times IRL, and since they only need to do their duty once, they might both have a strong do your duty view combined with not caring as much if you did. Saves on people living with 'beards' at least.

living on an island, and having many offspring, would require the population to be under control, it would make sense if the tradition was that only the oldest or the most successful daughter could married and have children, she would raise and feed her offspring with her sisters. It could be less and less prominent in lover cast but cultivated in the upper, as it would be believed it makes the family stronger not only throw genetics but also by sharing the responsibility of raising the kids in groups, restricting family members would also safe the resources.

My thoughts on LGBTQA+ Nauticians is that culturaly Nauticians have a "do your duty to your family line" mentality. I can see a society where once obligations to the bloodline are discharged, or the fertile window has been missed, the social pressure eases off to varying degrees depending on time and place. Also it raises the question since you defined marriage for the Nauticians as a couple bonded by children: would they have same understanding of marriage that we do? You've mentioned all the races on your world are magically/genetically altered humans, could their culture shifted marriage in to something that made more sense for their biology?

It could be where the yolk (???) of the egg attaches to feed them the same way an umbilical does babies? So not actual belly buttons, but just appear as a darker patch or maybe a slight dent. With regard to the sense of smell, smell can be very sensitive underwater - sharks utilize smell to track blood in the water for miles at a time. What might be more interesting is giving them an electro-sense where they're able to detect electromagnetic fields. This sense could be used above or below the water, maybe spread all over their bodies via specialized nerve clusters in the skin, but have a large number of them in their palms and soles, maybe even mouths. This could lead to them being able to sense living things in complete darkness, although walking with their hands outstretched may give them the appearance of being blind or drunk, so maybe the other races would think they were. This could also mean that the blind of their population would be able to navigate their world more easily than other races, although they wouldn't be able to communicate underwater at all. Perhaps this meant that all the blind were relegated to house work or would become servants or workers on dry land where they could verbally communicate.

if the eggs have a yolk, that could be connected to the developing embryo via an umbilical cord-like organ and thus allow them to have belly buttons. If you look at newly hatched fish fry, they retain their yolk sac connected to (I believe) their gill arch until they have consumed all of this. this allows you to retain belly buttons of their lack is aesthetically freaking you out

To be fair to the "hatched from egg but has bellybutton" thing, snakes have bellybuttons. If an umbilical cord is present, a belly button can exist. I don't remember if you had shown any cord connecting the in-egg baby to a nutrient sac in your art, but it's a thing to consider.

2 questions. 1) did you try briefly entering the water with the clothing? As an amphibious race I get the impression that their clothing would need a certain degree of practical water tolerance. The designs chosen all scream "Nausican High born" or "Landed". Large amounts of excess fabric and drapes. (Though it is an efficient way to save on resources which the upper class would need whilst still presenting a "classy" appearance) However I feel that the clothes for the tide born would be radically different. They may be amphibian but ocean currents are more impactful than the wind and all the drapes would easily throw of their movement or get them caught in the current entirely. 2) would chest support for the lower classes be as necessary? Whilst humans have evolved on land and thus have fairly strong tendons to support them, aquatic species simply wouldn't need them as much due to natural buoyancy (also great aside they could also be used to maintain buoyancy giving the whole race a more androgynous appearance as even males would have a small chest). This would mean that the lower classes may only use them for modesties sake, and not true support. Thus your designs that you mentioned didn't provide good support may have been the more realistic for the lower classes, given they spend far larger periods of time underwater. (On a related note, recall that underwear that provides such support is relatively new amongst humans, only existing for the last few hundred years.

Mariah actually goes in greater detail about the Nautikan's system of clothing in previous videos! She actually already covered the class differences, and explained that for entering the water everybody simply strips down to their undergarments (boxer like pants plus chest support for women!). All the clothes are designed with ability to strip down easily in mind! I totally recommend binge watching the whole series: definitely worth it! :D

On the avians, if I remember correctly you mentioned that there are several different kinds like how the main ones are based on coturnix quail with a few tweaks, how would toucan based avians work? Or flamingo avians? Idk just food for thought, as these races were created, out of all birds what would be some weird ones and what would their ecology be like? As touches are pretty dedicated fruit and nut eaters, how would toucan avians or parrot avians to a lesser extent function if they don't have the biological tools to eat their favored foods, would they make tools earlier to avoid this problem or would they have stronger teeth in order to break nuts without the need for their beaks? But if they break nuts in their mouths what of the sharp shell pieces? Idk I'm living for the new avian lore that's to come because the deeper you dig into the different types of avians there's many different questions on why and how they live. Love your worldbuilding though, its just so interesting.

Bull Sharks, as well as some other species, can freely travel between Fresh and Salt Waters and have been found hundreds of miles up rivers. The Nautikans could have a similar system to those. I also wanted to say I love this world building stuff so much! And I think your great at it.

I like the point about gills and blood. See in my fantasy setting, almost all the beast races (merfolk, avians, molemen, the dragonborn, etc.) were created from ancient people using mutagenic herbs to help them survive better in their environment. When eaten these herbs give a person certain traits of an animal for a time and when consumed by pregnant women will permanently modify the genes of their child. In the case of merfolk I initially thought there would be three races/subraces: the seafolk, the sirens, and the selkies. Selkies, like the avian harpies, appear more fish like because they had access to the mutagenic herb gilly weed for longer and thus took on more fish features than their seafolk cousins. They have bluish grey skin like dolphins, they're hairless, and egg laying. Sirens are then an offshoot of early selkies who in addition to a diet of fish began to consume the drowned corpses of orcish and elven sailors and thus reverted from a more fish-like form to a more human-like one. They have human like skin and hair, women have breasts, but the biggest difference between them and sea folk is that they lay eggs like selkies where as sea folk give live birth. But thinking about it now, there should be at least several more ethnicities depending exactly on what kind of fish and people these groups ate. Whether they were salt water or fresh water, what kind of blood they had, what their fins looked like, ect. Now I suppose the only question is would these be more like species where there's no interbreeding between them, like races where there's little interbreeding between them, or like hair color where it's common to see mixed groups everywhere? I guess it depends on the trait. Like egg-laying would be a big divider because their parts probably wouldn't be compatible but other than that I don't know.

When that little section came up about the cephalopods and blue or purple blood, I immediately thought 'nautilus'. I have always been fascinated by these little guys. Maybe they could be another cultural element to the Nautikans. Also, the names nautilus and Nautikan are very similar so it kind of works, if you get my meaning. Maybe nautilus could be sacred because of their supposed connection to the tides. (Their shells being as round as the moon and having wave-like patterns on them.) Or maybe they could be farmed for their shells to be used as bowls or decorative additions to furniture and their meat being a rare delicacy. Or maybe they could even be expensive pets.

I wanted to ask this because I was very disturbed about the Nautikkan breathing system (and I think that sending through Instagram wasn't a great idea): Will gilles, a fish opens their mouth to get water through their gill arch and the filament are here to take the oxygen and reject the carbon dioxide. Since Nautikan are/were mostly on land, the gills wouldn't really work. Having pulmonary breathing wouldn't go with the fish aesthetic and they wouldn't be able to really breath underwtaer (there is also the pressure problem). Having both of those system could be an answer but the question is how would they switch (maybe magic ?). If they are both, beside walking, infants would have feet developing problems but also pulmon developing problems. It really depends on your history because deep sea nautikans would develop giles and tails more often than fresh water nautikans. Maybe their breathing system evolved through their environment and so the history. I want to touch on this because your basic idea (mermaids with legs) lacks the second part of what makes mermaid/sirens ccol : they breath underwater. Hope I didn't confuse you, and I had helped. Your content is so inspiring ! Sorry for my english, I'm french and not a scientist !

The tie-together 'shrug' sleeves that Ashitaka wears in Princess Mononoke are apparently a variety of Japanese under-armour (yoroi hitatare), and in the film he even wears it under a wrap coat/top! (like yours!) I haven't watched the whole video yet, so maybe it was solved similarly in the end😅

Watching the initial video again (as I watched it recently in anticipation for the future insights you've been doing while moving the videos to this channel) I am again tempted toward making wings and the clothes I've drawn up for my winged people. Like this close, I swear. I could even make a dressform or frame or something to build on, I feel like it'd be unnecessarily hard to do things related to a person's centre back without one. I really like seeing the evolution of your ideas and thought processes, and then even more so other people's input and how you take it, learning what would or wouldn't make sense to you is fascinating, as it tells us a lot about the world itself.

I’ve been wanting to make the clothes of the fantasy race I made for a while, but some of the stuff is much more complicated. My race tends to wear a lot of flowy garments and things that aren’t skintight, with the exception of these kind of corset belts they have. A normal daily outfit would be a poet shirt style shirt, probably white, with a light colored full circle skirt, and then a darker colored corset belt thing. This would be worn regardless of gender. I could make the skirt and shirt fairly easily but I do not have enough experience to make a corset belt. But I do suppose that I could make the shirt and skirts along with a few other pieces of clothing and then either make a corset and just do the best I can or buy one. This race is inspired off of moths and mothcore stuff, so there’s lot of imagery about the moon. They also make their clothes mainly out of this thin silk like fabric. The colors they have access to are mostly light and grayish.

Idea for the avians, what if sometimes due to them migrating people get left behind due to them just having crotch goblins ( aka kids ) or injury’s and such then rejoining a different group? This would mean say group 1 leaves mom + hatchling then they join group 2 but if they find group 1 they are seen as filthy traitors to a group depending on witch group they permanently join…so much drama potential and say one poor character leaves the rest of the avians due to constantly being left behind because of injury ( abnormalities with wings maybe? Idk )
@BonaparteBardithion
@BonaparteBardithion 3 года назад
If leaving behind the young during migrations is the semi-norm, we can assume group 2 has similar practices. Different groups might agree to care for each other's strays until they meet up with their original group, if they ever do. I imagine the nomadic groups would be relatively small as well and they would already have a fair amount of interchange occuring for marriage purposes. If two groups are on bad terms, one of them may pick up someone that was left behind and try to use them as a hostage. Or else the person(s) that was left may choose to side with the former-enemy if the circumstances behind their abandonment were unusual and bitter. Though at that point it's drama created by drama. It's harsh, but I can see someone with a physical disability getting frequently picked up and then left by various groups. There may even be a general expectation to care for any disabled individuals the group finds for as long as they can keep up, and then when they leave they might point the person in the direction of the next nearest group. That could definitely become frustrating though and encourage the individual to seek a more stable place to permanently live.

Don't know if this was brought up with another video, but would materials like wood, ceramic and metal be considered luxury items to the Nautikans, as production of these would only be viable in the dry-land or high-tide(rich) regions, whilst precious stones be regarded with lower value as they are theoretical available to all regions? Would pearls be essentially valueless as they would be so easily accessible to the deep-sea(poor) regions?

👍 It's not that unlikely that different castes would developt according to skin coloration afterall, since it's such a visible characteristic. we can see it in our modern world that people are more easily and often discrimated for having a different skin tone, than from being from a different country that has a similar skin tone. I can see how strong sexual selection might end up driving such a change.

Afaik the salinity of water and blood coloration are unrelated. To my knowledge blood coloration in different animal varieties is due to happenstance and mineral availability. To my knowledge all vertebrates use iron blood. While certain invertebrates like arthropods(spiders, insects and crustaceans), and at least some mollusks(octopuses, squid) use copper. Anyone who knows more please feel free to correct me.

What if there were original races and races that came about due to mixing? In my stories I have it set up to where there were seven original races and all other races are a byproduct of them mixing together to the point where they become their own separate thing and have their own cultures as a result. I also make it affect the longevity of their lives, but that's not super important and, I think, a little more complicated

i've been considering this since it got a brief mention in a previous video: would any of these societies have something like the Tōdōza of tokugawa japan? it was a guild of blind men who helped one another get training and jobs. i'm thinking about it because, if glasses for near-sighted folks are exceedingly rare, they might require similar services. uncorrected, my vision is so bad i can't see to the end of my hand; meaning i need to lean really close to anything i'm trying to pick up, just to see what it is. it affects my ability to walk around, since i risk twisting an ankle or stepping on glass. and i'm only 24! in a world with large predators and other dangers someone would want to keep an eye out for, i would've been a goner lol

i really want more on the avian race, they are my favorite XD i like the idea of quailing, but maybe spell it Kwaelin so it seems more.. i dunno... fantasy? keep in mind i spelt it how its pronounced and how the humans would spell it. i kinda like the idea of having a very distant flock of them that rarely ever gets new blood, so their wings have become more angled and a solid colour. in that flock, you would be named for a plant in the oasis where you were born. they are more angular and hawk-like than the other flocks. they rely on survival of the fittest to take care of their young and follow different rituals than the other kwaelin flocks. they have one god, a godess, who was in charge of weather, fertility, seasons and growth. (now ima go on about this godess) Shervil, the oasis flocks only deity takes the shape of a huge falcon, 5 meters tall. she was the only egg in a clutch of 100 to survive (its a godess, they follow their own rules). her parents, normal falcons, died 2 months after she hatched, at the hands of a primal god, Jessis. Jessis saw the young godess and gave her magic, immortality and speech. using this magic, Shervil killed Jessis to revenge her parents. a few hundred years after her murder, she came apon the oasis flock. she blessed the pregnant mothers unborn children and the fledglings to have more angular bodies, to look more like her. she spent years among the flock before disappearing, leaving a generation of falcon-like Kwaelin in her wake. (Shervil didnt bless them with these looks, they just liked how the more hawk-like Kwaelin looked, so they just kept breeding them into their bloodlines until they all looked like that.) very far fetched, i know. it would be cool if she appeared again in the story you write, if you like this idea. the current matriarch of this flock is Palm, and her mate Coconut. they have 2 children (twins), Banana and Mango. alright, fanfic over XD

Blood coloration isn't due to a pigment or anything like that but rather the metal that is used to bind Oxygen to a protein in a blood cell that carries it throughout the body. Iron in blood causes red blood because iron rusts red. The protein associated with this red blood is hemoglobin. Copper causes green or blue blood. Copper-containing blood uses the protein hemocyanin. There's also yellow or purple blood. Yellow is associated with the metal Vanadium but its unknown why its yellow iirc. It's highly improbable that one species would develop more than one kind of blood, usually the size and amount of complexity in your species is impossible without blood so your species likely inherited its blood from an ancestor species, and couldn't have just recently developed blood, much less twice in 2 different populations of the same species.

Anyone see that post on Tumblr I think about clothes in Roman times. They were made from squares, at least the tunics, and the fabric was finely woven, the excess fabric hung down in really nice pleated ways. I don't know how historically true it was but if it's true for the nauticans than the shape of the excess fabric would be quite different. Course you don't have that fabric.

Mariah, here's some ideas for the avians. Those of the prime colors of the wings have the same with their hair and eyes. If they mix breed with each other, it'll result in 1 or more highlighted hair and they eyes will b heterochromia; mixing a lot will give like those colored mathematics chart. If u and ur friend do another dress up as avians, pls so how u make the wing, I've seen people customize their own Maleficent wings. Nautikan men, I like their outfits, u should find some guys to join in bring them to life too. Given them hanging drapes too even if it isn't as long as the women. I'll have to find a better way to conduct the experiment but if the webbing was loose enough it wouldn't really effect signing at all. I experimented by tying each of my fingers together and trying to sign the 51 handshapes of ASL and it kind of worked. I'd say like three fourths of them were doable and at least half of them would have been legible. I couldn't do the experiment for very long cause the elastic bands I tied by fingers together with cut off my circulation and the tips of my fingers were turning a worrying shade of purple and becoming very cold.
@BonaparteBardithion
@BonaparteBardithion 3 года назад
Maybe you could try it with 2-4 layers of tape between each finger. That would approximate the shape of webbing while still giving a little flexibility (and would allow better circulation). Edit: invisible or packing tape, not duct tape. Ouch.

Ok I read a comment and replies and I love it Basically what they are saying is that once the child rearing is done the peeps are free to be who ever they want Its the oppisite of humans because teens are left to explore themselves in a healthy environment and once adults society wants them to be stable in their identity as well as human psychology its a stage in development actually But here, outside of reproduction nothing else needs to be very gender specific and they only have a window of time to do that So once its done, its done and gender and even biological sex doesn't need to be super Important Personally I believe that gender doesn't need to play a huge major role in this world when its really only one period in their lives that biological sex matters, the rest is for them to decide who they are Also with many children, gay animals in the wild adopt.. Tho sometimes they actually steal children... From heterosexual couple that are neglecting them or abandoned them because they cant take care of them. Same can go for gay couples here Idk if im going too fulfillment here but it makes sense to me and im just writing into the wind

I feel like the idea of lgbt in nautikans probably would be rare if any in the young with how you described them they seemed to have a manic need to pass on their genes, but perhaps in post child rearing people they would be more inclined to find comfort wherever they feel it since that biological need has passed. After they've raised children after all, they would be able to help with further familial child rearing regardless of what partners they prefer.
