I might add a pool chiller to the swimming pool. Pools tend to heat up way too much during summer.

Hello from Ouray, Colorado! These are great tips for desert heat. Thank you for sharing them. We are in the tire kicking mode of considering a part time transition to the Palm Springs area. I come there for work every few months, but rarely have a ton of time to really explore (I can usually do 1 event per trip such as go to Joshua Tree or Idyllwild). So, I am trying to get my boss to nail down his schedule and maybe my wife and I will bring our travel trailer to the Palm Springs area for 2 weeks or so in April.

What recommendations do you have to help keep a 2 year old and his mother busy during the day and get them around other families and stay at home moms?

Great question! I’m very close with my niece and nephew so I was around them a lot at those ages. Still close to this day 🥰 There’s so many options. During the summer you can try the Palm Desert Aquatic center for pool time when it’s super hot. The mall is an option. The Children’s Discovery Museum is planning to open back up soon. Palm Springs Art Museum. There’s a local art shops specifically for children. Have you ever heard of “Meet Up”? It’s an app that you log into and check out other local groups like, stay at home moms. Church is always an option. The biggest one out here is Southwes. They have SO many events going on year round. There’s another app called Nextdoor, and also Facebook has tons of local groups for any area. Once baby gets older you can do things like the ice skating rink and Get Air (trampoline park). I went to the trampoline park last weekend with my family. Talk about tiring but fun 😅 I hope that helps!!

I find the swimming pools in Palm Springs have water that is too hot to enjoy during the summer months. The water is not refreshing at all.

That’s not 100% the case. Typically most pools are very refreshing during the summer. The bigger the pool the cooler the water ;)

Hi are there any other ares in the area that are considered less hot in the summer / due to mountains higher elevation etc in Coachella or in Riverside county Thanks I love the look of Palm dessert but the heat may be to much

Hi! So as mentioned above mountain center would definitely be a place for you to check out. :)

Either way, it’s going to be hot. Those are our must humid months. There’s just no way to slice or dice it. Just stay somewhere with a pool ;)
