What a special boy Brody is. Fascinating watching you under Pippa's instruction. I'm sure you will go on to do wonderful thing's together. he's a very handsome chap too.
Thank you so much Justine for taking us along to Pippa’s. I watched this and then sat on my horse tonight trying to emulate your riding and Pippa’s advice 😊 My horse went beautifully, I was so chuffed so thank you!! Brody looks amazing, the difference in that trot - it definitely has more cadence and seems more ‘through’ from behind. Anyhoo I don’t know anything but it serious impresses me seeing him improve! Thank you for such a great vlog ❤
Following your journey with Brodie is wonderful , well done Justine! He is beautiful and talented but we must not forget it takes a talented jockey to get the best out of our horses and you are doing a bloody great job xxx
Your blogs are informative with lots of humour and banter. Keep entertaining us and encourage us that you don’t need to be 20 to be an accomplished and talented horse rider. From Australia
So good with Pippa. N u looked so much better too. U took the extra pump/bump out of ur riding n both the trot n lope too. No more Cowboy lope n back to a beautiful 2 count posting instead of ur usual big high 3 count posting. Good job 😅 Brody is a superstar. 😊
Hello! Thank you for the inspiration and your courage! I was in pony club many years ago, and evented during that time. School, life, job, family … long hiatus. Got back into it 20 years later, then Lost my horse tragically and thought I would never ride again. More time goes by and I now find myself with two 6 yo shire crosses - Oscar and Ollie. I don’t know if I will compete again. The boys are very capable. I am hoping that my 11 yo daughter wants to. Jury is still out there. I am thrilled to watch your journey and look forward to your posts. I am rooting for you. Brody is gorgeous! I must admit watching you has really made me miss competing. Congratulations and best of luck at the coming events! Oh 🤣🤣🤣Your family and friends make me laugh.
I liked the little 3 loop serpentine 😂 in the middle of your cross country when you had your slight indecision about the location of your next fence. Love that it did not flustered you and you just cracked on with it. Well done. It is always great to get fresh eyes and feedback and it definitely showed in the trot. Lots of exciting potential there. 🎉🎉🎉
You and Brody are such a handsome pair and the fact that he worked so hard for you in the ‘boot camp’ is a sign, to me, of the goodness of your match. On a totally different note, it’s so lovely to me to see you and Charlie so supportive of one another and cheeky at the same time. It’s what I believe many of us aspire to in our relationships (both with our horses and our humans).
I think Brody is lovely. I think that boy could jump the moon. In terms of dressage. He has it all. I do think that dressage is his weakest area and that is me being very critical. I don’t think he ever looked tense in the test, that everything was accurate. When I think of him moving into extended trot I think that the trot could fall apart a bit. But again, I thought he looked pretty darn good. Then after a watching Pippa’s lesson I was so much more impressed. Everything seemed so much more animated and forward. Gosh, she is amazing. Her wise words and your continuous work will certainly show better scores in dressage. Jumping? Brody is so ready to move up and if you can work on the lessons that were so wisely given my Pippa, you both will be unstoppable.
Thank you so much Justine for such a fantastic video. Broody is absolutely gorgeous and thanks to your hard work is looking in perfect peak condition. What a handsome talented fella he is. Wowzers I loved day two and Pippas approval at that trot - a marked improvement - you can see him learning and enjoying it. Well done you. When can I come stay with my Charlie Bear ? Smiling. It’s a real pleasure to watch you both. Thank you 🙏
Oh my. That was a fascinating watch through the training lesson. You could really see the improvement in his self carriage and free forward pace on the second day. Marvellous. Just marvellous. Best of luck next outing Justine.
So interesting watching your lesson with Pippa! How amazing to have such an opportunity! The improvement was clear, so exciting to see you moving forward even though we think you’re super already ❤
Oh Justine he really is just your heart horse isn’t he 🥺 He’s so stunning!!! He’s eating that xc course up and well your experience will tell you that getting time penalties for going to fast is definitely a sign to move up and let’s be honest he’s already jumping them all at novice height 😂 Just love him ❤ Good luck for your next event x
Wow Brodie looks well fit and tucked up Justine. He was such a good boy I love watching him do the cross country you are both in your element . Great tuition from the great Pippa Funnel. Glad you did the voiceover with that wind geesh when is it going to stop.tfs🤗🏇🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this vlog with us! In the dressage test I agreed with you that Brody didn't look tense but I did find myself drawn to his mouth and wondered if that was what the judge's comment referred to. You then went on to say about the bit not being quite right and then watching the schooling element with Pippa and how that linked to the contact was really interesting. Great to hear the lesson has revitalised things for you. Will look forward to the next vlog! :)
You’re fast due to your forward riding. It’s so lovely to see a push for a fence rather than the pull and chip that is such a problem in our younger generation. Brody really jumps out of stride great to see. He does however peck occasionally but I’m sure he’ll strengthen that soon. That trot was dramatically better after pippa had worked the magic.
Loved all your commentary great vlog, Brody is a special boy and you have and are putting a lot of time and effort into his way of going. Love his jump and was so interesting listening to Pippa teaching you and Brody on the flat. Can’t wait to see where this season takes you both. 💕
What a man he is ❤ being short coupled helps enormously with the jumping but makes it harder to get a more open stride, but by golly now you have Pippa's advice and encouragement the outcome will have even Charlie smiling 😂 such an interesting vlog, well done both of you 🎉🎉 xx
I love your style of riding, very forward and positive. I think all the hunting plays a big part in that. Kudos for getting more advice from another trainer. As you said, it is so good for us to be pushed a bit, reset our ways and then take that advice forward. Love watching Brody, he's a pretty perfect horse in my eye. ❤
Brody looks fantastic Justine! Super jealous you're friends with Pippa by the way, shes one of my idols. Watching you makes me want to start riding again but I haven't ridden in over 20 years, worried I'd look an idiot lol
It was super interesting listening to Pippa. Brody is such a super type of horse. A real hunter type. So was Killaire. If memory serves me correctly, Killaire came first, second and third at Badminton Horse Trials back in the days of steeplechase and roads and tracks.
Since that was upper level stuff for me, most of day 1 I didn't get til near the end, struggled at the beginning of day 2 and she said that about balance AND ya, I actually got quite a lot of that, I think 🤣 IMO aka what I saw, topline wasn't quite in balance with the rest, that lended to the appearance of "tense" which almost looked like a cringe to me but ya he's very fit and gorgeous sooo WOW chalking that one up to his fantastic musculoskeletal configuration needing just a tweak WOW you're right, I saw the difference, got your legwork and understood that, didn't catch the hand part really but hey!! Hands looked STILL 🤣🤣 Justine, if you hadn't said watch to the end, you'll see, I probably wouldn't have paid enough attention TO see 🥰🥰❤️ TY 🙏🥰
Justine, such an improvement in Brody's way of going. It looked like everything was starting to click into place under Pippa's instruction. Great feeling when that happens. I was always told to sit up and keep looking up and ahead. Keep referring back to the scales if training. Good luck with your next event.
Hi both ,I addmeryou for all you do, the whether has a BIG affect on the way horse's go .Brody is such an amazing horse and together you are a great team .TAKE care and all the best. 😄😄👍👍🐶
I’ve been thinking the last few videos that he wasn’t working through from his hind and was behind you at times and lacking impulsion, balance . Then I saw your ur warm up and thought oh no! I’m so glad you got that lesson! What a treat the lesson from Pippa! He responded well, you both started to look mint. It’s a little harder for him as he’s so short and muscled. Hasn’t he bodied up this year! Looks fab❤ it took me back down memory lane to lessons at Somerford Park in the 90’s with Ms Bayliss 😅 😅 She was a hard taskmaster when it came to this. It’s always stuck in my mind, even when I’m assessing my dogs movement. I’m obsessed with it 😂 thanks for another video, I really enjoy yours as they’re raw in talent and not pretentious at all. 😂 I’m looking forward to following you and Brodie this season.
Really enjoyed this. Pippa was brilliant. You and Brody worked really hard and it showed improvement really quickly. Well done Justin - Brody is such a stud muffin!
@@justinewardeventing thanks. Wasn’t good ground anyways, very holding. Doing great as always though, he was jumping fab and made that difficult turn look easy in bad ground. Think he will make intermediate look easy! 😏
