Explained: The history of the Houthis 

●I am from Yemen and I will tell you something that does not appear in the media. The cause of the destruction of Yemen is the Saudi government, with the support of America. When it allied with some countries, including the UAE, in 2015, they declared war on Yemen under the pretext of eliminating the Houthis. The Houthi group was very small at that time, but Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries were bombing Yemen brutally and mercilessly, killing civilians, besieging Yemen for 8 years, and causing the death of tens of thousands of children and civilians. They were bombing wedding halls, funeral halls and everything. They were no different from Israel. Which caused the anger of the Yemeni people, and we all supported Al-Houthi until he became strong. Saudi Arabia failed in the war and Its goal in the war was to obtain Yemeni oil, and the UAE is now seizing Socotra Island.

You have seen my country, Yemen, but you have not seen the hearts of the Yemenis. They are the purest hearts. Praise be to God, who honors us with religion, honor and pride.🇾🇪.🇵🇸

And Saudi Arabia hasn’t been able to win in 10 years despite killing massive numbers of civilians and leveling basically all infrastructure.

I've seen hundreds of body cam videos from the Houthi fighters. They are the most impressive fighters in all of the region. And they don't even have shoes.

Thanks, this put together a lot of puzzles in the news including Saleh's ousting (who I didn't know has since died)and why outsiders such as the US and the Saudis are so concerned about a militant group from the poorest Arab country.

I am sunni muslim and Somali and I wanna say dont make us to Shia or sunni. It doesn't matter if the Houthis are Shia they are our muslim brothers and I fully support them and all the Yemenis not matter shia or sunni. Houthis are far more better than those saudi so called Sunni

Grossly oversimplified video that relies on the trope of a leader rather than analyze why people supported Al-Houthi. People were protesting the securitization of the border in north Yemen and KSA and also restrictions on their access to water sources. I recommend reading or listening to Isa Blumi's research on Yemen.

This video is one sided. The Houthis have good reason to hate Saudi Arabia, America, Israel. I'm a U.S. Veteran and fully understand.

I think it's fair if you also show the damage the Saudis and the coalition have done to Yemen (which is more). Houthis have targeted only oil facilities, while Saudis targeted a party saloon and killed hundreds of civilians for that attack alone.

yet when the muslim in palestine needed support, it was the houthis that answear them, not the saudi. its not the palaces, oil empire and the riches of saudi that come to help, but the faith and courage of the people of yemen despite their humble condition themselves. I'm surprised at the omission of any mention of Houthi resistance against Wahhabi infiltration into northern Yemen in the early 1990s as well as how that plays out in the dynamics of the civil war, in which many of the southern factions are overtly Wahhabi. Resistance to Wahhabism has been a key factor in the originally Houthi mobilization and ongoing efforts to resist both southern hegemony or separatism.

The opening part, where they shout death to people of a particular religion gives away the whole facade of these people. The iran-saudi divide has bought nothing but disgrace and humiliation to the muslim world. I am not saying who is right or who is wrong, but all I say is that these both countries have only done damage to the muslim nation, they both fund different groups in different countries, promoting escalation of civil wars and religious extremism. No wonder how our ummah faces humiliation everyday on borders of europe, in Palestine, because a divided middle east is a weakest middle east. And I don't see any point in continuing these wars, except the muslims bleeding each other to death.

Seems clear the Houthi (though I believe they prefer to be called Ansar Allah) object to what amounts to the subversive colonisation of Yemen - and why shouldn't they object and fight against it? And support others in the same battle - hence their support of Palestine? There's a long history of support amongst Freedom Fighters against oppression from the same enemy - Western Imperialism and Hegemony.

I want to clarify why I think this video is one sided, and explain misunderstanding about Houthis: 1- 3:24 she said the Houthis were met with little resistance because Yemen army was divided, this was one of the reasons but the major reason was Yemenis started to support and even join the Houthis movement. 2- 2- 3:47 a new government was formed in Sana’a. Why she didn’t say it was formed and accepted by over 80% of the population of Yemen?!! 3- 3- 4:10 a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and UAE stepped in. Why she didn’t mention that this coalition and heavy bombing have killed nearly 70,000 civilians ACCORDING to the BBC, which I believe the real number is way much bigger. 4- 4- 5:30 human right organizations accused both Houthi and Saudi-led of crimes against humanity. Why the BBC report of Saudi-led coalition using INTERNATIONALLY PROHIBITED WEAPONS is ignored?!! 5- 5- 6:24 did they kill these journalists and students for no reason? Like they did NOTHING!! 6- 6- 6:30 they don’t recruit child as it was shown in the video, the recruit men over 18 or youths after puberty and PARENTS ACCEPTANCE. 7- 7- 7:08 the shia rebels. The leader of the movement is shia, but the members of the movement are mix between sunna and shia it was said by the formal speaker of Houthis.
