In this video, I'm going to show & explain to you what Chorea is! Chorea is a symptom of Huntington's disease. It causes involuntary shaking & movement! -----------------------------------
Mike, I love your videos so much. As a at risk person, they have brought me so much comfort in approaching the way you do. Hope you had a good holiday. 💕
Nice moves brother! Great sense of humor :) I have HD too. Not the full blown chorea yet, but some of the other shenanigan's. Big love to you and your film crew!
Thank you for making this video. I am a 3rd year med student studying for Boards and this not only helped me understand the disorder better, but also to understand my future patients and what they go through on a second by second basis. Also, your positive attitude is very refreshing. Take care.
Great video!! Huntington's is in my family. I have several aunts, uncles, and cousins who have Huntington's Disease. Myself and one of my cousins have been wanting to learn more about the disease.
This is so strange for me to watch. I have the same symtoms with the movements, but not that severe. Its mostly in my arms and head. Im 34 and got sick a year ago, but dont have a diagnose yet sinse i also have other strange symtoms like my leg got paralyzed and I have tremors in my whole body when I sleep and stuff. But its really facinating to see someone that also have this movements. Great video:)
Thank You! My brother has been diagnosed with this. They still cannot diagnose me, other than I have an Autoimmune Disease. I'm in severe pain all the time, and my body jolts often! Edit: My legs, upon standing, will not work properly, I cannot get my balance nor take proper steps. My feet burn and hurt constantly! My pain scale doesn't even fit on the 1 - 10 score sheet... It's far and beyond 10, closer to 100 and beyond! My throat hurts and tightens if I talk or sing too much.
I'm wondering if you have been floxed ... there are videos about this severe damage happening to people when they take certain antidepressants or antibiotics that have fluoxetine in them ... lives have been destroyed but some of these people have actually beat the illness after years of suffering
The only way to diagnose you is to do a genetic test which is where they will be able to tell you if you have enough repeats of the HD gene in your DNA strand. How do I know you ask? I just went through this with my husband.
@@hdfindthefunny Were your movements constant at first or did you go long periods without movement, and then have short episodes of chorea? (I am trying to better understand the disease, I believe my late mother might have had it)
@@Morris223b thanks for watching! It’s important to note that everybody’s a little different and nobody symptoms are necessarily the same. However my initial first symptom was a twitching and other movements. Back when it first started I would occasionally have days when the shaking was more pronounced in days when it was less, if that answers your question.
MasterPeaceTheater thanks for watching. Fortunately I have only minor thrashing when I sleep leading my wife to get us double beds. Nothing like you described though
@@SusantheNerdy Thanks, I went to neurologist and he also confirmed this. Since then, have been less tense and the jerks have gone away almost completely.
I’m fascinated by the repeat number and how that affects symptoms... elsewhere I had heard that between 36 and 39 its a toss up (some get it, some don’t) and after 40 it’s pretty certain that those symptoms will appear. I wonder if the research is still out on that though? Or for that middle range someone might not get it until they’re 85, so it just seems like there were never symptoms if they die before then?
Jennifer Sundt thanks for reaching out! My understanding is that the number of CAG repeats correlates to the agent which you will first become symptomatic. There’s actually a chart (I believe it’s on the HDSA webpage) showing the CAG repeats and the age. In my case anyway, it was dead on. I have 47 repeats and I first developed symptoms when I was 35.
Thankyou Mike look into a Homeopathic remedy called Ignatia Amara. Seek out a homeopath to advice you. If not then just go to a health food store and buy the remedy. Thankyou for this video Im a student and this helps
