Gnaw Their Tongues song titles be like: "Scratch out my eyes and remove my organs with a razor blade and then feed them to rabid, drugged out homeless people while filming it all on an android"
Gnaw their tongues titles be like “Send me into a drug induced euphoric state while you slowly and painfully peel off the charred skin off of my infected, decomposing body as I slowly wither away in the repugnant catacombs of hells fire”
I’ve listened to a few of his songs under Gnaw Their Tongues, “Ten Bodies Hanging” might be the most insane song I’ve ever heard EVER. It sounds like what I imagine Hell might sound like. It intrigues me how a song like that can even be created but it makes me uncomfortable and that is what I love about it. It portrays such a feeling that nothing else in Metal can give me.
Seen GTT live at Brutal Assault few years ago. The man performed in shorts and sandals, yet his performance was more devastating and sinister than half of the festival's lineup combined.
Hahaha this reminds me of buying the sepultura live in Brazil vhs as a kid. It is so damn good (all pre-chaos ad stuff) then one day I noticed……..the bass player was wearing sandals. Took my 14yr old mind a little while to get round that.
Exactly man! His set was one of the most intense gig there. On the other hand, he as a person is super nice guy. I am glad that Přemek, who is in charge of KAL stage, was able to get him there. KAL is the most unique and interesting stage in last couple of years at BA.
I remember reading an interview he did (I think the vice one) where the write said he used a lot of emoticons in his responses. I can just imagine bro using smiley faces in all his responses while blaring extreme metal in the background and smiling while typing
I wish Gnaw Their Tongues would come with lyric sheets. Maurice is obviously really musically talented - I think he pretty obviously has a lot of familiarity with classical and soundtrack music and admire his ability to turn those gifts into clanging gruesome horror.
Fuck yeah. Checked out some of the music on your channel, good stuff! I’m working on stuff myself for multiple projects I ought to start one like GTT soon.
I’ve always been intrigued and impressed by how prolific Maurice is in his projects. I really appreciate the dedication that he and Déhà give to creating such extreme, unsettling music.
The split that the two of them just released where they're making adaptations of "The Rite of Spring" is absolutely insane. I haven't heard Déhà's side yet, but GtT's is demented beyond belief
the way i like to explain to people why i voluntarily listen to music from artists like GTT or any other very outsider artists is that i enjoy exploring different sensations and emotions; from the super dreadful, to empty, to ethereal or euphoric, sentimental, etc etc., it really is like literature for your ears. and who doesnt love a good psychological horror for the ears, right?
I wouldve never heard gnaw their tounges without stumbling upon your videos. Mories is a master of his craft. I also checked out his other works ( cloak of altering , caput mortuum, etc) Ive never heard anything close to it and immediately fell in love with the sound and atmosphere. Definetly one of my top bands 🤟
For all the GtT fans in the comments, I also suggest the band La Torture Des Tenebres. Not nearly as deep of a discography (just one album, to my knowledge), but the best way I could describe their sound is GtT + Imperial Triumphant. Easily one of the most overwhelming albums I've ever heard
I can’t say that I’ve listened to all of GtT’s songs, but I definitely love his creations. Personally I loved “L’arrivée de la terne mort triumphante” the most. Like when you feel and hear this unearthly noises you feel being in the other world. That was the most unique audio experience
Gnaw Their Tongues is a unique project. Maurice de Jong takes a lot of black metal, grind, industrial, and noise elements and combines it all in a sick and warped, yet intriguing listen with each album. I love All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity, Eschatological Scatology, Reeking Pained and Shuddering, Abyss of Longing Throats, and the collab he did with Dragged into Sunlight the most.
That Gnaw their Tongues is from a country next my parents country called Guyana...he is from Surinam, which is next to Guyana, he moved to Netherlands later..
I just discovered your channel and GTT thanks to RU-vid recommending your most disturbing albums video. Hands down, this is the scariest and most disturbing audio work I have ever heard in my life. I have been listening to Industrial, Noise, Black Metal etc for 25 years now and nothing comes remotely close to this guys work. All the other bands you recommended on that disturbing albums video felt like a fun trip to Disneyland compared to this guys work, holy shit. On a funny side note, I watched one of his live performances on here and the comments section was pure comedy gold. Everyone should go check out the video just for the comments alone haha.
I’ve been listening to metal for around four months now, and when I discovered Gnaw Their Tongues I was mind blown and entranced; safe to say it’s an instant classic
I actually dig it. Not that I enjoy the music itself, but rather as imagination fuel for the soundtrack of the coolest, craziest horror movie or game that never was.
Maurice Is a minor deity... what more needs saying, some of the best items in the collection here are his works, not as influential on me as when I was a teen getting into the genre... but still absolutely brilliant! genius man
Digging GTT thanks to you since some months ago. Explaining P.H.O.B.O.S. or the whole industrial doom side of extreme industrial metal would be a good dive!
New to this project and am loving the horror it brings! Kudos for a fantastically articulated summary of GTT's 'music'(?). Will def check out some more of your tubes.
He did an amazing album with Nekrasov, they called the project “Mors Sonat”. My two favorite underground projects working together. I’d love to see a video on Nekrasov, still so mysterious after over 20 years, did all this before anyone else, and killing it with his epic triumphant “all that’s amazing about metal” Rebel Wizard project. So cool you did this on GTT! Mories rules!
I've been obsessed with gtt for a while now lmao and something I've found while listening to some of their material is that there is actually some guitar it just either blends into the background noise or is really quiet but is quite audible in songs like the title track of KWEH (kapmes wonden en haatliederen) and the last song of ES, there's also miniscule details sound wise in gtt songs as well that aren't really noticeable on first or even second listens which is just so cool in my opinion they're definitely one of my favorite projects to listen to lol
I think it was my proclivity even very early on to be interested in concept albums that drew me to GTT. Doubly so for my enjoyment of Dark Ambient as well as Dark Electro/Industrial sounds. L'arrivee I consider to be the best record from this discography but I am partial to Cloak of Altering and De Magia Veterum as well. I admit however that it's been a minute since I've heard any Mories, thanks for refreshing my memory Wyatt.
When it comes to..idk.."Our music"..(and i dont know what i mean by Our music. But i bet you do..??) Knaw Their Tounges, so far, is fuckin...i just find it best expression im aware of interesting, intense, exciting and its powerful. I appriciate this guy's fuckin more than his art(if you will). And holy Fuck, whats crazy, is Seriom may be even better. I fuckin love the entire output. Love and respect, my people.
man i had some dark days listening to broken fingers point upwards in vain off of the dread magnificence on loop. i wasn't totally fucked up though, i did have to skip the female vocalist sample cuz it made me physically wince.
My buddy got me started with Blessed Hands Touch The Ophanim Under The Golden Rainbows, but I am in love with Golden ashes, specifically Golden are the ashes of the restorer
For what about me I love Bethlehem and Deathspell Omega but all right, I'll listen to Gnaw with more attention today. By the way I see Gnaw as some sort of disciple of Atrax Morgue and I believe Atrax went much deeper with his work, it was more real and less of a pure and simple shock tactic for getting noticed. Personal opinion... anyway these things we have already hear 2k times before, especially in Italian industrial projects.
Now that you said it, I cannot unsee it... Though I find Mories' works to be sonically richer (you know, when he drops the neoclassical part or the black metal moment). But, for what I've listened, Mr. Corbelli was more interested in the rawest and truest expression possible of his feelings, and that is admirable. (e sarà cringe da dire, ma saluto il compatriota. Vedo che anche Lei è uomo di cultura🙂).
@@enri_mucca haha si si i agree with u anyway. Also if it is true that at the core of Gnaw's inspiration were the throbbing gristle, Throbbing's initial stunts (I cannot name otherwise RU-vid censors me) also used sex and pornography to create a stir so all comes together logically. The idea in that case was opposing the bigots more than dealing with genuine paraphilias... let's say it was more political. I love Throbbing Gristle don't get me wrong here... I just think Corbelli's operation had nothing political about it and nothing commercial about it, it was just an attempt to articulate his issues through art so that he did not have to act on them. He could up to a certain extent and then we all know how it ended.
also I also just thought that politics and sex - traits that are very pronounced in Italian industrial music from Atrax to Bianchi to Officine Schwatz etc etc but not necessarily so in German or American Industrial projects - are the evergreen pillars of satire. .. who knows maybe this is why we Italians are drawn to them more than other cultures. ;)
@@n3r0n3 "initial stunts" is a beautiful euphemism for those crazy COUM days :). And your statement about the "political" side of TG makes total sense. Since the inception of the industrial movement there has been pendulum-like movement between exposing the horrors of society for a satyrical and "journalistic" intent (TG themselves said, after recording some "music" and then listening to the urban environment around them, that they were not artists/musicians but reporters... or something in that vein) and simply embracing the fascination for that said horror. So it seems logical that artists like Corbelli or Mories have their spot in the scene (though I surely hope for a better ending for our beloved Dutch guy).
Can you make a video on black metal musicians who actually apply their dark music into their daily life...? In rap and hip hop there are notorious musicians who really do what they sing or write about, Murder, robberies etc.. But Apart from Varg Vikernes i don´t know of any other truly dark black metal musicians. black metal musicians seem to try and scare their audience with the music, but in reality they´re for the most part benign human beings.
This would be an interesting video. It's not really helped by the fact that a lot of BM artists tend to be quite private people, so you wouldnt really know if they actually live that life. Example of artists who have definitely done pretty extreme stuff would be BSoD, Members of Dissection, Faust from Emporor and Gaahl.
Is the fact I find Gnaw Their Tongues soothing a symptom of insanity ? My personal favorite is 'An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood'. That one seems to strike the best and blackest balance of what he does.
You actually got me listening to this band - started with All The Dread Magnificence Of Perversity - couldnt get the vinyl anywhere so got the cd - i did however manage to get the Kapmeswonden En Haatliederen vinyl - so i have 2 now, not many to get - LOL
Yo Wyatt, i was wondering if you have listened to the band named Vampyroteuthis Infernalis or if you know any information about them. Personally i find them one of the "creepiest" bm albums ever despite all the known stuff like Emit, K.F.R etc. And probably because of the combination of the sound, album cover and theme which most likely is lovecraftian based or maybe for a reason i cant yet describe. But i'd like to know what you think of them !
If you could do a video about satan panonski that would be nice, he is a yugoslavian punk musician, i am from croatia as well and i think that he dosen't get a lot of the deserved atention outside the balkan area, he is compared to gg allin a lot but he is defferent mabye even better
Back in highschool i was given a therapist and idrk why cuz i didnt do anything weird really besides the music i bumped but first week of it he asked me what i was last listening too and it was G.T.T and he was like ok cool ill listen to it tonight and the next day he was like...look man i asked you if it was good to listen to and i was like it is?,whats the problem? Turns out he played it in the car with his homies and they stopped chillin wit him😂😂 and i was like i said its good to play alone 😂so long story short he added a extra year of counseling
Tried to get into Gnaw Their Tongues, particularly the "All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity" album, but just couldn't. Which is strange since I like Whitehouse and Deathpile.
I saw one of their CDs at half price books recently, and didn’t buy it. I was near my budget and didn’t want to drop the cash. Kinda wishing I would have grabbed it and finally gave this band a shot
I randomly stumbled upon Mories a few times on the internet. He seems nice, tho a bit snobby. It's nice however that he actively participates in music discussion with other metalheads on the internets.
Being a native Dutchman I'm still a little in doubt of being proud 😅. Nevertheless, his 'music' is undoubtedly terrifying original...horrifying, frightening and disgusting. I can appreciate it in a sense but don't recommend it to listen with "narrow minded" human beings. I think"they" will accuse you from being very insane in the membrane 😉
