The pensidora seems like a good stance to use when you're close to your opponent. Then you can try to shift between other stances.

Hi Ryan i trained in Keysi for 2 1/2 years, i have been to seminars of Justo and fernando gomez you need to get over to Europe and feel the intensity of the training its like nothing else.
@akayokaki
@akayokaki 9 лет назад
I would love to go over for a seminar, or another period of intense training sometime. I'm very impressed with Fernando, from what I've seen from him on RU-vid. Justo, of course. I've been slowly increasing the intensity here with my training parter(s). It's to the point now where it's difficult to even hit each other any harder with the mitts, haha! But yeah, we're going to keep plugging

I've learned several different forms of martial arts over the years, the ones that come most naturally to me are wing chun and systema, my sparring partner is all keysi and karate. He has yet to win one of our sparring matches
@akayokaki
@akayokaki 3 года назад
Yeah... but there are some good techniques in keysi. One or two of them have made their way into common-knowledge mma, which is how it should be. In general though, Keysi’s trained mostly in shadow-boxing and the ‘street situations’ approach. You can see it’s roots in JKD. Those who train it formally, I wouldn’t consider them fighters. I have yet to meet a fighter who’s incorporated more than the very auto-responsive pensador guard into their game. Most of the Keysi techniques are designed for surviving (hopefully) a multiple attacker situation. I think some fighter could one day take up Keysi inside technique the way Tyson took up peekaboo. But we’ll see

@@akayokaki you are very right indeed! I started learning keysi a little over a year ago, and have combined it with my knowledge of Jete kune do, systema, wing chun, karate, krav maga, three gun tactical (my time in marine corps MARSOC) and jiu jitsu styles, all of which I have 14 years combined experience, and I have come to find out that keysi is one of the most if not top notch in defending against chaotic street fighting style, it's a very useful form, and I definitely am looking forward to adding it to the list of forms I can confidently say I have mastered

I’ve been mostly in (occasionally breaking, but never really) martial arts since I was twelve, so more than three decades now. I serve on our local combative sports commission, and we work with a couple significant promoters. I’m exposed to good fighters, though I train mostly with novices, cops and people looking for intro Jiujitsu. Keysi is appealing, for it’s use in a tight-quarters may-lay with more than one assailant... really the only kind of actual fight experience where I’ve been compromised in my life

@@akayokaki that's impressive, I train occasionally against a group of four friends, all knowing various styles of martial arts, and I come out on top 7 out of ten times, I have been told my entire life I'm very naturally skilled beyond what many have seen, and I would like to maybe create my own fighting style out of the various styles I know, and maybe start a school, but I've no clue where to even begin honestly

+dr.knightx dr.knightx It comes from a couple of guys (Justo Dieguez and Andy Norman) experimenting with things on the coast of Spain. Both of them had Inosanto Academy backgrounds, and I'm not sure what else. Could definitely have some Muay Thai too. In fact, they could have even got it from Inosanto

I do not mean to troll or be the bull shit caller here, Just an honest question. Why the wide elbows? I originally liked the wide elbows form a bjj, jjj fighting stance. However, I started training Muay Thai and took upper cuts to the chin all day long with the wide elbows. Hence I have closed my elbows for this reason. Soooooo long story short why have the elbows spread apart?
@akayokaki
@akayokaki 8 лет назад
+robbie Eisenrich Actually, you don't have to have the elbows spread wide, exposing the chin like that. This is just the most basic form of the pensador, applicable against many strikes by untrained fighters. There are several other forms that a guy can alternate into though, and in fact pretty much has to use, as you note, against certain strikes

Your Body Mechanics are totally wrong. Do you know what Somriza, Circullo and Rodomundo are? If you can not answer those questions, whoever told you youre doing Keysi has misled you. Keysi Wetterau by Justo Dieguez
@akayokaki
@akayokaki 9 лет назад
harvydent7154 This video was made around Week 1 of my Keysi inauguration, and it is me attempting to share what little I knew (mistaken or not) with my training partner of that time, who wasn't really convinced that it was something we should bother with. I do now know the term Rodomundo for the around-the-world type drills that take us from the standing position, down through a couple stages of defence-posturing to the point where we're prone, and then back up again. I've probably been introduced to Somriza and Circullo as well, but may just not have learned the terms. I have improved a lot since this video, but of course am still growing, and aim to continue that progression life-long. I do not have any Keysi instructors in my area, but have been fortunate to find people here and there online who were willing to offer free tips toward my Keysi development. Currently, I'm doing a lot of experimenting outside the standard curriculum, but using some of the core concepts
@harvydent7154
@harvydent7154 9 лет назад
You seem to be getting a lot of hits and many may think what they see you doing is the real Keysi ciriculum as laid down by Justo Dieguez.. There is a reason why most videos posted about Keysi, with the exception of those coming from either Fernando Gomez or Justo himself are several or more years old. Its because the system has been greatly changed since the split between Andy Norman and Justo Dieguez's KMF days. Keysi cant be learned via dvd or long distant learning. Caveat Emptor.
@akayokaki
@akayokaki 9 лет назад
harvydent7154 The reason this video has received so many hits is just because there are so few videos on RU-vid that include the name Keysi in the title... and that mainly for legal reasons, I suspect. Anyone who looks at my channel would realize that it is simply a training journal, not representative of the company or corporation. But even I have received some pressure in the form of people who did not want to share teachings with me if I called it Keysi, because they were worried about being considered black sheep in the organization. All that money haggling and business stuff is what I'd consider the most unfortunate aspect of KFM, Keysi, Defense Lab, and all such derivatives. As far as learning from a distance goes, my opinion is that someone could definitely do so. It just hasn't worked well finance-wise (again), because people were sharing training videos and such. So it's frowned upon. But I have had official representatives of Keysi today offer to train me online, for the right price. So apparently they believe it can be done, as long as I have training partners and such
@harvydent7154
@harvydent7154 9 лет назад
The reason why Keysi doesn't work long distance is because there are many nuances in the style that needs to be felt hands on. Many postions, grips movements that have to be explained and properly executed due to requirement of fine motor skills which ensure successful execution of skill sets. Sure big movements like punching a pad can be duplicated but not wrist locks , arm breaks, joint destructions et al. .Many think Keysi is standing around with your palms glued to the forehead like an idiot. Thereby not allocating the respect the style is properly due. Pensador is but one aspect and its more than a static position in fact one shouldn't even employ pensador until one is in range of attack. I agree " Business aspects " have caused much collateral damage, Though I cannot speak on Defense Lab, Keysi by Justo Dieguez is an effective and pragmatically brutal style to be employed in real world situations. The fact that online doesnt work comes directly from Justo thats why you wont find any updated how to do Keysi DVDs. The online marketing scheme by offical representatives is a side Hustle henceforth Caveat Emptor. Anyone claiming to be an official representative should be listed on keysi dot net. Im not attacking you, just making you and others aware that there exists many offshots and former students staking claims of a legacy not theirs to do so. Nunca Te Rindas
