Explaining what Broke on Gold Dust & Why! 

As someone who has owned, driven & abused more than a few old 4x4's, including old Fords, up here in the rust belt, where bodies rust out, body mounts go, frames flex & everything twists, I kinda knew what that sound was instantly: T-case out of sync & just needed to be pushed back into 2WD, or whatever, so I'd suggest setting up a shifter for sure.. Then take that thing offroad some! Maybe Pismo beach dunes would be fun, but since we are both on the eastern end of the country, we have Silver Lake sand dunes up here in Michigan. That truck shouldn't be slopped through mud, but dunes are a blast & easy on the sheet metal while also not filling the frame with sod. Summer is also a good time to get out of Florida. Hearing sounds in the shop makes me think of the phrase "into each life some rain must fall"....it's good you have friends all along the way for help and shelter! (trying hard on the analogy LOL)

Definitely a bummer to have happen but I always try to look at the positives. When It DID break you had a safe-ish area to pull off the road. You weren't somewhere offroad isolated with no service. You've got good friends willing to help get you to the next stage. It's a fairly easy t-case to source. Doesn't need any major fab modifications to get back on the road. The shop gets to look over the work performed to address anything after all the miles you put on it. Some people look at it like it's the end of the world when it's really not too bad.

You need a 1356 transfercase with autoshifter..that way you dont need shifters inside the floor. its like you built a Lamborghini and your drive shafts are Nissans ...your a mechanics dream...work on them yourself more ...love ya buddy

Get you some free spin locking hubs to help with gas mileage and ware on axle and transfer case , but you will need 2 High

Do they make transfer cases that allow you to select not only 2 wheel drive rear, and 4 wheel drive, but as well to select 2 wheel drive front?

What tire size and wheel size are you running
