I found a Nazi memorial on an island that has been used as a prison camp during World War II, a lookout point before the dissolution of the union and securing a strategic airport on which the German occupation forces depended on the first years of war in Norway.

1895: The development of Bergen's fortifications started with Kvarven as the first construction stage. Land bought for a battery on Skarvøy, but this was not built.
1902-03: After a lot of doubt about location, the work with mine barriers etc. in the Herlø section started. All facilities completed December 1902. At Skarvøy, this included a sighting station for a mine barrier in Jacobsøysund, one battery with two 65 mm cannons, two 8.4 cm batteries, all with hand-held ammunition magazines and cannon sheds, floodlights at Parisholmen with machine station at Skarvøy, batteries and monier magazine at Ypsøy as well as an underwater sjeté between Jacobsøy and Kalvøy. Supervisor's home built. Jetties and roads established.
1905: «Welhavens Minde», a stone hut with a stamped earth floor built for accommodation as previously used accommodation on vessels was not sufficient. Movable barracks also received from the Navy.
1913-1918: World War I. Neutrality guard at all facilities under Bergen's fortifications. Great activity and new construction. A simple relocation shed "Skodje's memory" erected in 1913. Later built barracks for crews, non-commissioned officer barracks and three mobile barracks for the operation of air artillery. In 1916, field guns and rock guns were mounted against air targets. Watchtower built on Parisholmen and a number of places in the Herløavsnittet. Detention center and new water pool. New covered command post in 1917. Cover embankment for machine station and ammunition house built. Electric light on the system.
1920-39: Mine barriers in outer sections reinforced. Neutrality protection established at all facilities under Bergen fortifications in the autumn of 1939.
1940-45: The occupying forces dismantled the cannons. One of three prison camps for Russian prisoners of war used in connection with the construction work on Herdla, was located on Skarvøy.
1945-2007: Taken over by the Norwegian Armed Forces. The facility is still owned by the Armed Forces and is partly used as a training area.
