This video brought back so many happy memories. I’ve done that hike at least five times, the last being at least 40 years ago. I do not remember the trail being that rugged. But it is as beautiful as ever-thanks so much for sharing!

A little talk-story from an old man. After my junior year in high school _(1970),_ me and 3 friends of mine, hiked up to Fish Lake, in the Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness. It's 8.8 miles of a very steep trail, going in from the Montana side. We went in for two weeks, even carrying a rubber two-man raft. So our packs ranged from 80lbs, up to 120lbs. _(Mine with the rubber raft, plus my gear, was the 120lb one.)_ While the trek up looked quite similar to yours, Fish Lake is a lot larger than your Leigh Lake. But just as clear, and with lots of trout. _(Which we ate; at least once a day.)_ We ran out of salt after about the first week. So when we got back down, we stopped off at Trips truck stop in Lolo, each of us ordered a chocolate milk shake, then we put all the money that we had on the table, and told the waitress that that was all we had, but to bring us the biggest plate of fries that we could pay for. She brought out one of those metal mixing bowls, about 2ft in diameter, and heaped as high as could be. We loaded those fries down with salt... and there wasn't a fry left when we were done. If I remember correctly, $3.75, was all we had together. So thanks for bringing back some almost forgotten memories.

Wonderful video Mary! What a long long trek but the final destination was simply beautiful. Surprising there were no mountain lions or bears or wolves on that trail??!!
